Sometimes Daniel really does drive me insane.
Like a few minutes ago, for instance…Daniel seems to enjoy pointing out that while what I may be learning may be good, its still no good and lame, etc., because he sees it all over the internet already. Like with this new program I have…ugh. Ive spent over an hour figuring out where different things in the program are at and what they do, and another half hour or so following a tutorial to make one of those swirly things (I did make it. Its right here). And when I finally got one, his only comment was something like “couldnt you make an actual shape instead of a swirl?” He always puts down the things I do… I guess he feels that Im not imaginative to do things myself, like heaven forbid I have to use a tutorial or do something similiar to something thats already out there. But his brother is OH so wonderful and oh so creative and everything else because he can do interactive flash layouts. So I always get to hear how good HE is… and then how unoriginal I am. Its like, how am I supposed to learn otherwise? Like I said to him, I wanted to follow a bunch of tutorials to get the hang of doing things. :(

    I think your blue swirly is original. who cares what anyone else thinks… if its something that you enjoy doing, then go for it! :)

    I dont recall his brothers site being so spectacular last time i visited it. What does he expect? Teachers at college teach programs like flash through tutorials, then students are assigned to come up with their own stuff. I learned flash the same way you are Jenn, you use a tutorial to learn the basic tools, then you start making your own stuff when you are familiar with the tools. Geez… so much putting down.. like a big power trip. Im currently downloading Maya, and guess what? Im going to follow some tutorials to see if I can make something! lol.. does that mean I suck and im not creative? hehe

    Honey, Daniel is an immature . He hasnt proven himself otherwise, his rude juvenile attitude just proves further how intentionally hurtful he is. Hon…I remember seeing his site when you hosted his webpage…didnt YOU help HIM to make that layout? I didnt see HIM being creative, not one bit.

    Dan…you can think whatever you like, but dont VERBALIZE it unless you want to prove how much of an inconsiderate brute you really are.

    Im sorry I was so negative about it, but to tell you the truth, Im completely [b]sick[/b] of all those spikey things Ive seen. Youve had at least a dozen different desktops with different spikey things and Ive seen more in various websites youve been around in. I wasnt trying to put you down or your work, I just dont like the object. It was even more irritating to me that all you found was tutorials for making spikey things. That implies to me that theyre widespread tutorials JUST for making big spikey things (which would explain why theyre so popular) so I get the impression that they dont teach much beyond that. Im sure you could find better tutorials for making something better than a big spikey ball. Im sorry I hurt you.

    Contrary to popular belief, Dan, spikey things are not the spawn of the Devil. I say: If Jen wants to convert her site into an enormous archive of spikey thing photos, more power to her. If she wants to compose her layout entirely of various spikey thing images, woo fucking hoo. Always support the people you love no matter what. Unwarranted negativity doesnt help a thing.

    Well…I dont want to sound mean, but I kinda agree with Dan. I mean, ya, you made the thing by yourself. But whats the “you” component thats in a piece of thing that was made by following step-by-step instructions from someones tutorial? There is nothing WRONG with making tons of layouts with spikey things, its just not unique, thats all. Ya, it looks cool, but looking cool and being original is two different things. Its really inconsiderate of Dan to yell at Jenn for it, but he has a point. He just didnt say very nicely. And to Whitneys post, I dont think you should support a loved one at whatever they do, nooo way. Say, they want to use drugs, you going to support them? I dont think so. I think people should only support ppl if whatever they are doing is right. Dan was only stately his opinion, just a little “not so nicely”…

    Supporting someone and condoning illegal activities are two different things, Michelle. If a loved one was abusing drugs, they might need your support more than ever. No, dont support the behavior, support the person. Let them know that you love them and are willing to help. Screaming, “YOU WORTHLESS FUCKER, YOU AND THOSE DAMN DRUGS!! I HOPE YOU ROT!!!!” will hardly help the situation.

    Well, did Dan use that kind of language? o.O I hope not… If he did, then nooo, its not right. But to express an opinion is not all that wrong… Especially if you do it nicely. Anyway…
