So yesterday didn’t go as planned. For starters, I didn’t get to bed Tuesday night/Wednesday morning until 3:00am. I was up by 8:30am and at the plasma center at 10:00am on the dot. Only one problem – they were gone. The building was empty, and there was a for lease sign up. :blah: I was about to freak. I needed the gas money, but more importantly I needed money for cat food. :cat: So…
I went home and looked up another plasma center in the phone book. I was there by 10:30am. It wasn’t until 11:30am when they started the intake process (watching a video on the procedure, paperwork, physical exam, urine test, health questions, etc.), but once that was all done things moved quickly – I was hooked up to the machine and getting blood pumped out of me by 12:35pm.
At 1:45pm one of the techs came over to unhook me. I asked about receiving the saline solution, but she said I didn’t need it. Um… what? :wow: I just donated 880 cc’s of fluid and I won’t be given replacement fluids? More importantly, the saline solution has some stuff in it that helps clot up the entry area, so it helps to prevent excess bleeding. Well, she insisted I didn’t need it, and pulled the needle out. Even though I immediately pressed my fingers tightly against my arm, blood spurted up in between my fingers and gushed down my arm, onto my shirt, the bed I was on, down the side of it and then onto the floor. :shock: She then gave me a dirty look as she helped me clean up. :sarcastic: Geez…
Well, after I left there I was feeling a bit dizzy – tired from not enough sleep, hungry, thirsty, and woozy from losing all that plasma and then a lot of blood. 
Ack. So I then bought cat food, ran that home, packed things up, drove to K-Mart to get oil, and then was on the turnpike by 3:45pm. I was in [private] by 7:00pm. I met my mother at her pastor’s house for dinner. We were home around 9:30, and spent most of the night watching TV and talking.
I got up this morning at 8:00am and helped her get my brothers ready. We took them to the schoolbus and then went out. She needed snow boots for the kids, a coat for Yusef, and two layaways at K-Mart to get out. We planned on coming home around 10:30am and napping. :ha: We got home at 4:00pm – we hit up three K-Marts and three Wal-Marts, and did lunch somewhere in the middle.
Of course the day couldnt be complete without drama. Usually Yusef and Amr’s bus arrives around 4:15pm. It figures that today we got there at 4:10pm and the bus had already came and gone. So I drove down the lane towards my mother’s street when we see my brothers walking. We get closer and see Yusef is all dirty and he’s crying. This fourth grader, a chunky obnoxious shit named Eric, beat the crap out of him once they were off the bus. I feel really horrible for not arriving a few minutes sooner – if we had been there sooner, that wouldn’t have happened. :whimper: Anyway, Eric has been shoving my brothers around since September. My mom has complained to the bus driver, their teachers and even the principal. Obviously, nothing was done. So, I drove to Eric’s house but only his babysitter was there with him. I informed her of what went on and she said that she knew Eric was bothering them, and she would tell his mother. Well, we came home and my mother called the police to file a complaint. The school isn’t doing anything, and the mother? She leaves for work at 6:30am and leaves her kid out to roam the neighborhood until the bus comes at 8:30am. So… perhaps a visit from the cop (who was here about an hour ago to get a report) will change her tune and she’ll crack down on her brat. :sigh: My poor brother… I feel horrible that I wasn’t there to protect them.
Anyway… I’m taking a mini hiatus for a few days so I can fully enjoy my stay with my family. So don’t throw a shit fit if I don’t respond to your emails within an hour. My computer will actually be off most of the time. However, I’ll be back in Pittsburgh Sunday night, so I’ll be doing lots of updating with sites and all then. Have a great weekend everyone! :wave:

I no longer trust people with my blood. I was taken to some shifty clinic once when I passed out. They took about 3 vials of my blood.. I’m anemic and there for passing out, err I think I need that blood :dammit:

ohh my goodness just reading that made me feel wheezy :shock: i remember when i was little, they had to do a blood test on me, and the guy was new so he put it in the fridge, forgot about it and it froze. so i had to re-do the whole thing and let’s just say blood and i don’t quite go along very well :yuck:
