Oh oh oh.

Well, Alyssa is back with us. I took my brothers home Sunday night around 9:30pm, and got Alyssa and her things together and brought her back home. Daniel was very happy to see her. :hearts: I missed her too, of course, but I don’t think I missed her quite as much as he did. Heh. Does the fact that I did not miss her at all Friday night make me a bad mother? By then I was just pooped out from being up and down and stressed, and I was looking forward to unbroken sleep. By Saturday night I missed her a bit, and by Sunday evening I couldn’t wait to get to my mom’s to see her.

Oh! I forgot to mention that the home visiting wellness nurse :nurse: came by last Wednesday. Alyssa and I are fine, of course. :) The nurse had a digital scale with her, so we got an accurate reading of Alyssa’s weight: eight pounds, nine ounces. Obviously, the :doctor: doctor’s scale was off by a pound. That’s not too surprising, since it was one of those manual scales that involves sliding that little thing back and forth along the numbers, and Alyssa was fussing at the time, and not lying very still for the nurse who was doing the weighing. So, I’m assuming that at her doctor’s visit (November 11th) Alyssa weighed around eight and a half pounds or so. I definitely don’t think that she weighed 9lbs. 4oz. on November 11th and dropped down to 8lbs. 4oz. by the 17th. Not with the way she likes to eat! :haha:

As you can see by this picture (taken about five hours ago), Alyssa still has her rash. However, it is finally clearing up! It’s about damn time, considering I first noticed it on her face around November 8th, and started applying a prescription cream on November 12th (I had to wait all week to get it thanks to slow doctors and retarded pharmacy techs :irked:).
Anyway, I showed it to the nurse last week, and she said it looked like a fungal rash, rather than a viral one (which is what the doctor thought it was, and hence prescribed a viral rash treating cream), and to try applying tinactin to it twice a day. I bought tinactin on Friday, so she’s now had five applications. What a difference! Before there was a few small areas that were healing, but overall it continued to have red edging and honey colored crust. Now, though you can’t really see from the picture (her forehead looks shiny from the cream; the actual rash is very dry and scaly), the redness is gone, the rash is very dry to the point of peeling up and flaking off, and some of her forehead is actually completely cleared up! :bounce:
I can’t wait until it is completely cleared up, because I really want to get Christmas portraits done (ones of just her as well as ones of the three of us ), and would prefer to not have that nasty rash included in the picture.

In the past 25 hours I have pumped 27 oz. of breast milk. That’s not too bad, considering that in the past 31 hours Alyssa has drank about 24 oz. worth. I WILL catch up dammit!

Alyssa is definitely a daddy’s girl…

Yay! Thank goodness Alyssa’s rash is clearing up. I hope it hasn’t caused her nor you TOO much distress. Also, an occasional break isn’t BAD at all. You need all the rest and alone time you can get.

I’m glad her rash is clearing up. I know if I had a newborn with ANY kind of problems (no matter how small they seem) I’d worry like hell. I worry a lot in general :P It doesn’t make you a bad mother at all. I’m sure having her around is a huge change in your life. You’re entitled to be tired and all. If you went for weeks without missing her I’d say you’d be a bad mother lol
