Alyssa’s rash/fungal infection is FINALLY starting to go away. :) Most of the crusty/scaly spots have fallen off; there are only a few places left around/on her eyebrows. It’s taken several days of two daily doses of tinactin to finally make some progress. Last night I took a warm, soapy washcloth and gently washed her forehead. The water seemed to really loosen up a lot of the places, because a lot of scales/dead skin came off when I was drying her head. Thankfully, there’s nothing but fresh, clear baby skin underneath.

Right now Alyssa is dozing in her seat next to me. Yesterday evening I went over to my mother’s for dinner (pork chop cutlets, noodles, sweet corn) and to watch the boys for her while she did a few errands. While I was there Alyssa and I took a two hour nap. Last night on the way home I stopped at Wal-Mart and picked up dinner for Daniel (boneless bottom round steak :yummy:) as well as a few other odds and ends. Daniel was nice enough to stay up through the night with Alyssa, so I went and crashed  around 4:00am and slept blissfully and interrupted until 9:30am. I’m still tired though, so I’m hoping Alyssa will do more than just doze!

Oh! I weighed myself at my mother’s last night (can you believe that for as long as Daniel and I have lived together (1.5 years in Pittsburgh, now going on four months here) we have never bought a bathroom scale? :haha:)! I’m down to 268 lbs. (I was 274lbs. as of November 10th). I was telling Chrissy at Seduced that breasfeeding must be the best diet ever! :angelic: I definitely gotta keep this up! :bounce: My goal is about 225lbs. Who knows, I may reach that goal by spring. :bewbies:
It’s amazing that since October 27th (at 8:06am to be exact :sing:) I’ve lost over thirty pounds! Of course, about 12-15 of those pounds were Alyssa (and placenta and body fluids, yum yum ), but still. I can feel the difference in all of my pants, and I can see the difference as well. YAY!

I’m alternately looking forward to and dreading Thanksgiving. I’m looking forward to getting out and having a nice holiday with Daniel and Alyssa. I’m looking forward to seeing my mom, brothers, grandparents and father. I’m even looking forward to seeing Dan’s aunt and various other family members. However, I am not looking forward to seeing Dan’s immediate family (parents, siblings). Why? Quoted from this morning’s e-mail to Whitney:

To be honest, I can’t stand my in-laws. It’s not that I hate them. I don’t. I’m just disgusted and repulsed by them. It’s Daniel’s mother, father, his two brothers (ages 20 and 16) and his two sisters (ages 11 and 9). They live in a house that’s infested with cockroaches, flies, and god knows what else. There are rats/squirrels in the walls, and Daniel once stayed there for two days and after leaving he found a maggot in his keyboard. There’s trash and dirty clothes piled everywhere, black grease/sweat marks all over the couch and recliner, and both bathrooms have semi-working toilets and toilet bases and floors that are stained with urine. Daniel’s father is an alcoholic (though according to Dan he isn’t because he doesn’t “get drunk”. Um, last I checked an alcoholic is someone who drinks all the time, not someone who gets drunk from drinking alcohol. Alcoholism is not defined by the side effects you have as a result of drinking! *eyeroll*) and smokes pot all the time, and Daniel’s mother smokes like a fucking chimney.

I loathe the idea of setting foot in that house, and I’m dreading tomorrow because Dan talked me into us going over there for a quick visit. Well, if either of them are smoking I’m not setting foot into that house with Alyssa, and I already told Dan that. I won’t go out of the kitchen, because while the kitchen is grungy, his mother does make a half-assed effort to clean that, so it’s not quite as repugant as the rest of the house. I’m also bringing along anti-bacterial soap to have them wash their hands with before they even TOUCH my baby, and I’m bringing along sanitizer for myself and her. Ugh. Pray for me. :P

Ugh I hope things go okay with going over to Daniel’s parents house tomorrow. You have completely just reasons for not wanting to take Alyssa into their house – I wouldn’t to either, especially if they are smoking! And speaking of Alyssa, her rash is looking SO much better. Yay! :highfive:

Good luck for tomorrow. Take care of Alyssa when you go to Daniel’s parents house!

Daniel’s family’s house sounds aweful and I’m sorry you have to bring Alyssa in there, but it is Dan’s family, and you sort of have an obligation being his wife and all :)

Alyssa is adorable! And I’m glad the rash it almsot completely gone. Good luck with tommrow, and before I forget.

    Happy Thanksgiving :)

Yay Jennifer! I think I was the first one to notice that you lost much weight ;) lol! Wow really? Is it just because of breastfeeding? Coz I need tips too :whimper: but I dont have a baby or milk to breastfeed :haha: hope you reach your goal soon :vibes: aww that pic of Alyssa is the cutest! OMg look at her eyes I so want to hold her

Alyssa looks beautiful, Jennifer. I’ll pray that Alyssa, Dan, and you survive the in-laws. Happy Thanksgiving! :)

No, her obligation is to make sure her daughter is safe from harm and sickness. If she feels that Daniel’s family’s home isn’t the proper place for her baby, she has a right not to expose her daughter to it. :blah:

Yay! Her rash is almost gone! It looks a lot better than it did. :)

Ugh, his family sounds disgusting. :yuck: I’m sorry you have to take Alyssa into that enviroment. :( Stick to your guns, and if they do something you don’t like, high tail it outta there, ya here? I hope spending time with YOUR family later in the day will make up for the time you have to spend with those people. :vibes:

Its good to hear Alyssa’s rash is getting better. I know Angel had cradle cap bad on his forhead, and I hated the sight of it… I was so happy when it finally went away and I could see his beautiful forhead again. hehe. And trust me, I know the feeling of wanting to lose all that pregnancy weight. I feel like such a cow right now. I’m lost like 40lbs since he’s been born, but I still wanna lose at least 20 more.

Is Alyssa sleeping thru the night yet? If not, she will soon!!! When that happens, it’s the best feeling in the world. Of course I still wake up all the time just to make sure Angel is ok. But to get to sleep at night feels great!!!!

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Awwwww, Alyssa is so adorable!! I know what you mean about dreading seeing your in laws. Mine are the same way. My MIT’s house is not quite as bad as yours but its close! I hate holidays because I know I have to go over there and be treated like crap. Ugh!! :(

Oh congratulations about the weight-loss thing! That must be really encouraging for you. You’ll probably lose even more when you have to chase after a toddler..lol

Finally, Alyssa’s beautiful forehead is back!

I’m so glad her rash is clearing up!
I still haven’t checked my weight since having Taylor…I suppose it will have to wait until my six week check up. I do know that I’m only one size away from my pre-pregnancy size… so that’s good. Only a little more to go!

Wow, congratulations on losing all of that weight!

Alyssa looks adorable in that picture. :)

That house sounds… Disgusting. Good luck!

Congratulations on the weight loss. I hope you continue to lose weight. :)

I don’t blame you for not wanting to go in that house or be around his family. They sound absolutely dreadful. I can completely understand why you wouldn’t want Alyssa to be there. Maybe you won’t have to be there very long.

    Alyssa looks great! SO cute.
I definitely wouldn’t want to go to a house like that either. Absolutely gross. Actually it seems even beyond gross.
I hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving!!

AWESOME you’ve lost weight! Breastfeeding really is the best diet ever.

Oh goodness! I’d have convinced them to come to my house for dinner or insisted dinner out. I would be scared to inhale even. Heck that would even motivate me to ask his mom if she wanted help cleaning house for the holidays. You should call that show with the two English ladies to come and clean that house. LOL

I am so glad that Alyssa’s rash is clearing up. She’s still adorable. ^^

Good luck with Dan’s family. I am not too fond of my boyfriend’s family either. I am thinking of you.

Her rash looks alot better :highfive:
My friend who had a baby a few months ago was quite large before she had the baby and as soon as she started breast feeding she went from a size 18 to a size 6 ( australia sizes ) which is tiny.

Oh my god! His in-laws sound repulsive. How can the younger kids live that way? Rats and squirrels in the walls? A maggot in Daniel’s keyboard? Disgusting! :yuck:
Hopefully you won’t need to stay long.

But anyway. Alyssa IS looking a lot better then before. :highfive:

    people LIVE like that?

    dear god.

  28. Jenna wrote on #

    She’s beautiful.

YUCK. Honestly, how do people live like that? I have a friend whose house is dirty, but it’s dirty in that it’s messy and somewhat malodorous, not *unsanitary*. :yell: And good-mommy props for refusing to have Alyssa around smoke! As Flanders’s kids say: “Smokers are jokers!” :haha:

aww I just wanted to say from that picture, I can see a huge resemblence (spelling?) in her and you, I dunno why.. I think its the eyes, but I think she looks just like you! Im glad her rash is finally going away, just in time for Thanksgiving! I hope you have a great one, and try to have a good time at his parents house :yuck: it sounds disgusting from how you explained it.

Oh my!! Her head looks soooo much better! That stuff definately worked well. I’m glad it’s clearing up. I bet it was annoying.

  31. Zophie wrote on #

Ahh, im so glad the rash is clearing up!!
I don’t know how people can live in a house like that. I know a person that lives like that and it’s like they don’t notice that they are living in an unsanitary house.
    Have a happy thanksgiving!

She has such a beautiful face, I can’t wait to see her without the dry skin. I also hope you enjoy Thanksgiving, nothing like family time, right?? OOH – I think if you want to get down to 225, you should try the same Power90 thing that I’m doing. My goal is 200 and being as I’m so used to being a big girl I don’t plan on going much lower then that. Good Luck on getting down to your goal though :)

Funnily enough, my little boy had a similar rash that became infected when he was about the same age as Alyssa. With us though, it developed along his tummy and was so sore in places the skin actually broke and peeled off. It was awful. :(

Turns out it was an allergy to Pampers nappies and my HV told me that it’s incredibly common. He was Summer Baby and so the perspiration and heat in that hot weather were stopping the rash from healing, so we needed the fungal cream to cure it too.

It’s so nice to see she’s improving. Isn’t it wonderful to see that healthy pink skin beneath? I remember the relief well! :D
