Ipod!

My Ipod! My :ipod: ipod is here! The shipping service came with it around 10:30am this morning. It’s a good thing I made Daniel get up to answer the door – signature was required to receive it! :ack: Otherwise, I wouldn’t have had it today (oh, the horror). Right now I’m sitting here waiting for my nails to dry, and then I’m going to play around with my Ipod. :)
The wrapper that the Ipod comes in amuses me. It says, in bold lettering (in English, Spanish and French): Do not steal music. Um, of course! Steal music? Now why would I ever do a thing like that? :haha:
Well, early this morning the appropriate communication between the therapists, caseworkers and C & Y was made, because the C & Y caseworker called me and told me that everything was unfounded, and not to worry. :whew: Now, to worry about Yusef. :worried: We think a big part of the problem is his medication – he’s on 12 different kinds. It’s ridiculous. We’re trying to find a child psychologist that takes his insurance so we can get him weaned off of things, pronto.
Dave called to check on how many hours/days I wanted per week, and I managed to sweet-talk him into giving me five hours tonight (4pm-9pm). So, I don’t have too much time to sit around, since I’ll have to be leaving for :burger: work in about an hour.
Here’s a question for you. What do you think of review sites? Good? Bad? Have any “horror” stories from reviews you’ve had done? I’m geninuely curious as to what other people think of review sites (I’ll share my opinion in a moment), so post!
My opinion on review sites: Personally, I dislike review sites that review the type of content you have, and your blog. There are so many varied tastes that there’s no pleasing anyone, so why bother? Reviewers should simply review the site’s layout – how good/bad it looks, does it flow, does it work in their browser, is it easily accessed/navigated, etc. After all, reviewers are people too, with their own tastes and preferences. It’s impossible to be 100% unbiased.

Oohh nice ipod, 20gb!! :D I hope the whole Yusef thing gets sorted and I HATE review sites because they just want all sites to look the same/have the same content so yeh, they kinda suck.

oooo congrats on getting it! Hope everything with yusef gets sorted out soon ! xXx

Congratulations on the IPod! I want one! :( I like review sites, but I agree that to review content doesn’t make much sense. To some extent it does, because there are quite a few sites out there that could pass for mirrors with all the same content over and over again. So whenever I go to get a review, I pretty much ignore the content section. I just like to know whether the site is easy to navigate, view – you know, that kind of stuff. Basically I like reviewers to review mechanics above all else.

  5. I would definately say he’s being over-medicated. I hate how quick doctors are now-a-days to medicate children for everything, it’s pretty sad :(. And lucky you, an I-pod, I tried getting people to sign up for mine and haven’t been sucessful :(.

YAY so glad your Ipod made it! I want mine to arrive.

Review sites…I REALLY don’t like them! There is so much variety online, and if ONE person doesn’t ike your style, then they give a bad review. But they can also be good for tidying your site, and giving good ideas.

Perhaps they shouldn’t be scored but just opinions.

Glad that the situation with your brother was sorted out, and, to be honest, I’m amazed that iPod thing was official :D I’m a pessimistic cow sometimes. Enjoy it, I know my friends do with theirs.

    RE Review Websites:
I don’t mind review websites if they give in-depth, honest reviews, and offer suggestions to the web site owner. I hate reviewers who cross the line between honest and cruel, and just end up spending ten minutes insulting the website owner.
I also hate reviewers who take ‘points’ off or add them on to reviews because someone’s layout features a celebrity they hate/love. They can judge whether the picture/blend/vector etc is good in terms of composition and quality, but whether you like/dislike the pictured celebrity(s) has nothing to do with it.
In fact, I hate the ‘points’ system entirely :D

awesome! you have an ipod. *does an ipod dance with ya* I got the ipod mini :D

I don’t like review sites, nor do I believe in them. If you are happy with your site then I think that’s what should count the most. It doesn’t matter what others think. If they don’t like it they can just hit the little “x” on the right hand corner. Anyway that’s just my opinion.

Lucky you getting an ipod! I want one but unfortunately I haven’t got enough referrals yet. I’m not a big fan of review sites coz I think some people can be a little harsh and unfair. I have my site coz I enjoy designing, blogging, meeting new people and I don’t need reviews but that’s just my opinion. :)

I don’t think you can have a full review without having a review of the blog itself. A lot of people care to know if others find their blog interesting or not, etc. If you have a personal site/blog and you’re having it reviewed, it should be expected to have the actual blog reviewed. By the way, hurrah! for the Ipod.

I’m glad they’ve decided that the whole thing was unfounded. Medications can be a big part of the problem. They can be helpful, but they can be harmful as well. And he’s way too young to be on so many meds. I understand having trouble finding psychologists who take certain insurances. A lot of them are so picky that you sometimes can’t find them.

I don’t like review sites. I would prefer ones that review the content of the site, as well as the blog, but I can never find any of those. I usually get ones that are solely about the layout, and I don’t think that just focusing on that really gives someone an adequate perspective on the site. I think the site is more than just the layout, and if they’re going to do a proper review, they’ll check out more than just the look of the site.

    :yay: for your IPOD!

I’m glad the situation with your brother was taken care of, as far as you are concerned. Hopefully they’ll be able to help him out now with his problem.

As for review sites, I’m pretty much on the same page as you. I never bother to have my site reviewed, because I see the people slam too many sites and just make people feel like shit. I made my site for ME, so I don’t care what anyone thinks of it, as far as not liking it. Unless someone really wants to know what could make their site better, they’re better off not getting reviewed.

i used to run a review site but i lost time for it…. personally i like revew sites… just not suggary coated ones that offer no constructive critisim…. and congrats on your new Ipod :D thoes things look pretty neat ^_^

YAY for getting your ipod! Did you get a mini? If so, what color? Those things are so neat, and very handy. I take mine with me everywhere.
As for review sites, I used to have one and I enjoyed it for awhile until I got bored with it. I don’t submit my site to be reviewed because it’s my site and I don’t really care what people think of it. Like you said, everyone has different tastes.

yay you got your ipod! :highfive:
I’m not fond of review sites even though I was addicted to yoursite.nu once upon a time. I think that a site is the owners choice to make it the way they want to be. They can do whatever they want to do with it. The review people are just people seeing it one way…one person thinking doesn’t make it true.

  17. Jessica wrote on #

Meh… as far as reviews go… damned if you do, damned if you don’t. If all you review a site on is it’s layout, they bitch because “there’s more to a site than the layout!”. If you review a site on ALL of it’s aspects, then you start getting into personal opinion. I don’t know. Personal sites/blogs nowdays are so… cookie cutter. Every one is the same. Visitor content is just “bait” to try to attract visitors to their site, because all their content is the same – a couple of avatars, maybe some cute HTML c&p codes, a few email forwards… nothing to keep me interested for more than a few seconds.

I’m sorry to hear about everything that has been going on with Yusef. I couldn’t imagine for one second what it must feel like to be in that sort of state. And I’m glad to hear that things got worked out with the social workers. That must have been so scary for you.

Congrats on getting your new iPod! That must be exciting :) Have fun ”borrowing” music, Jennifer! :) hehe

  20. Wow! I thought that thing was a scam or something. I didn’t think they’d really send out an Ipod. Congrats! :D

I think of review sites as fun. I don’t really take what they say to heart. It’s just nice to know what others think of my site. If they like it, they like it. If they don’t, oh well. The only thing that bothers me is how some reviewers complain about personal websites blogging about offline stuff. Um hello… it’s a PERSONAL website. Of course owners of a personal website are going to blog about personal things. :sarcastic:

    Enjoy your new toy!

IPOD! iPods are so much fun

I just wrote a long-ish blog entry about the different cases I’m looking at. I can’t decide on just one, but it seems silly to have more than one iPod case.

I got an iPod yesterday :D donät they rock? take good care og it ;)

  23. I’m jealous. You got your Ipod …. and I am still working towards getting mine. Too bad alot of the sites I have gone to for the free ipod thingy do not have the little lock on the bottom of my browser showing me that it is secure when I go to complete an offer … it’s a little odd I think. Though Congrats on getting it :) :highfive:

I’m glad that situation with your brother has been resolved, though 12 differnt medications, that’s just too many. Hopefully you can find a good theripist for him. Is’nt there any sort of “free therapists” based on income and stuff like that? Their is things like that around here I belive … hopefully you do too.

Review sites, I am not a big fan of them though I have to admit I have submitted to a few. I normally get deducted “points” because of my spelling and grammar. One even went off about how I spelt colour with a u. (I’m Canadian, and that’s how we spell it) … though it is nice in a way to get input from absolute strangers sometimes. I also hate how they diss visitor conent on how it’s all the same and they want to see something origional … it’s hard to be origional on the internet, their is not that much that you can do about having unique things that are your own creations (unless your good at writing stories, or poem, but even then they get knocked on because they do not understand or whatever… ) I can go on and on about this …. I think I’ll stop now.
