Before I go…

While I was out Friday, I stopped by :burger: BK to pick up my paycheck, and was informed by one of the managers that Helen’s husband had just died the day before. Apparently, some time Thursday afternoon Helen called in and told BK that she didn’t know when she would be in, because her husband was having chest pains and acting weird. She called back an hour or so later to tell everyone that he had died.
:jawdropping:
I can’t imagine being the person to take that call. Sheesh. I feel so bad for her… just last week we were joking around about our hubbies making messes for us to clean up, eating all of the food, etc. Sigh. There’s been a collection set up for her at work – I plan on contributing to it.

Later on Friday I ran into my eighth grade crush. :hearts: Come to think of it… we both had crushes on each other. We acknowledged it, and our friends knew and encouraged us to “get together”, but we never did. For some weird reason, we mutually decided not to… :oh2: I wish I could remember why, but I can’t. But seriously… if you liked someone, that person liked you, and you each knew of the other’s feelings… wouldn’t it make sense to hook up, rather than not? Well, whatever…
It was a bit awkward seeing him… him looking good in jeans and a black shirt, checking me out – alternating between staring at my chest (that particular shirt rides low, and Lissy tugs on it, so that doesn’t help things) and gawking at the baby (Alyssa, of course :P ) I had propped on one hip. Eh. He had his chance – he should have pursued me a bit more diligently. ;) So yes… we said hi, asked how the other was doing, got caught up on what was going on in each other’s lives, and that was it.

Then, at Wal-Mart, I had to deal with the creepiest, sleaziest “mechanic” ever (but then, it serves me right for going to Wal-Mart for an oil change, now doesn’t it? :dammit: ). He wouldn’t stop checking me out, and when he saw that I wasn’t interested in that particular method, he began asking all sorts of questions – how old I was, my relation to my brothers (I had picked them up from school since my mom was at an appointment with my grandfather) – I guess he was wondering if I was their mom? – how old Alyssa was, what her name was, etc.
When I began pointedly dropping the word husband he didn’t even budge – instead, he tried to physically lead me further away from my brothers and Alyssa (she was in the shopping cart basket, they were holding onto the cart) under the pretense of getting my car information from me. :wtf: First from the inside of the auto area to outside the door… then down near the second car entrance… then finally at my car, where he actually got in and sat down while talking to me, so that I had to lean closer to him to hear him and answer him. Fucker. :irked: Finally I was like, “I really need to get back to the kids… and go shopping. Do you have everything you need?” I suppose he got the hint, but if not, oh well – at that point I tossed the car keys to another mechanic and stalked back inside.

And on top of it all? I told sleazeball as well as another mechanic that I did not want their next oil change due date sticker on my windshield. I even left a note on my windshield stating this. Somehow, I wasn’t surprised to come to the car after everything was finished and find a fucking sticker there. :swearing:

Some random things…

Before I go (my bed and my husband are both calling my name :flirt: ), some adorable pictures I took of Alyssa this evening (can you believe she’ll be 11 months old on the 27th? Where does the time go?!)…

I am so sorry about your colleague’s husband. I remember once at work, I took a call from a calleague to tell everyone that she had had stillborn twins. It was awful having to give everyone the news.

The sticker is easy to peel off since it’s more of a vinyl cling rather than an actual sticker.

Maybe that guy was dense as in socially or mentally retarded since he didn’t realize you were busy with kids and then put the sticker on your car when you asked him not to. That’s so odd he was talking to you rather than just changing the oil. When I take mine in I give the person at the desk my keys ,which is the person that gets your info, not the person working on your car, then get on my merry way then come back when called. But maybe y’alls Wal-Marts are different than the ones in Orange County?

That’s so sad about Helen’s husband. I hope she’ll be okay.

Wal-Mart mechanics are evil. I’m sorry you had to deal with that one.

Alyssa is so cute. I can’t believe she’ll be 11 months old in two days. It seems like it wasn’t that long ago that she was born or that you even found out that you were pregnant.

Helen will be in my thoughts. It’s horrible that her husband died so suddenly. :(

I’ve been a Joshua Gracin fan since he was on American Idol. I always hoped he’d come back as a country singer and I was (still am, actually) so excited when he actually did!
