I have determined that this printer is officially a piece of shit and a major waste of money.
Up until a few months ago it worked fine. Actually, before I reformatted back in July (to make sure there were no conflicts between my newest HP printer and the two older ones I had), it was working.
Now all of a sudden, it won’t. Come to think of it, it won’t do a damn thing. My computer claims that the USB device has malfunctioned. The fucker won’t even print from the camera or memory card, either. Oh, it tries to, but then one of two things happens:
1. The printer attempts to feed the paper into itself, can’t, beeps randomly, then gives me a “printer jam” error message.
2. The printer manages to feed the paper through, then puts it in and out four times, and finally out, claiming that the printing is complete. Meanwhile, the paper is still blank.
Software-wise, everything I’ve tried hasn’t work: uninstalling the sofware, reinstalling the software. Downloading updates. Uninstalling everything and reinstalling from the website rather than the CD. And my latest drastic measure? Reformatting my whole fucking computer in the hopes that wiping everything out would solve the problem. Surprise surprise, no luck there…
…So, there’s $175 down the drain. :swearing: I swear, with Kodak it’s like pulling teeth when it comes to getting any help. My mother and I went around and around with them over the phone before I finally sent a rather lengthy e-mail to a service tech – and finally, three fucking weeks later, we got a response. They’re very reluctant to accept responsibility for defective/damaged/non-functioning merchandise – and even if they do, they expect you to pay for the shipping and handling fees. :wtf:
I might give them a call anyway, just to see what comes of this. I’m really, really annoyed. But thankfully, I have a camera dock as a backup, so I can still transfer photos directly to my computer (without having to take the memory card out of the camera).
I’m really, really tired, and really, really annoyed. I’m using IE because I haven’t downloaded Mozilla yet. I haven’t customized anything; I don’t even have my e-mail accounts added to OE yet. :sigh: I won’t be able to get to any of this crap until tomorrow night, after work.
And speaking of work… my job rocks. :heart: Guest services is great. Hah, I’m sure I won’t be saying that a week from now! However, I do have a little comment/rant – you can view it here.
Anyway… I need to go. There are dishes to do, and a racoon to chase off the roof – it has itself wedged between the top wall of the house and the roof and has been happily chewing away for the past hour or two. The sound is annoying, but more importantly I don’t want the little bastard to eventually chew a hole through our wall! :eek: I need to go out there with a broom or something – and pray that the damn thing doesn’t launch itself at me! :duck:
P.S. You know it’s bad when you’re doing spellcheck for racoon. I really, REALLY need to get into bed ASAP…

That’s so odd you have issues with Kodak EasyShare software and customer service bc I’ve had no problems with the software or their customer service. Heck they email me regularly after I registered my equipment with them.
:ohmy::wtf: Mine works PEFECTLY! Well, my dad’s works perfectly, because I don’t own it. Kodac is SO weird.
my dad had a racoon at his house like 2 weeks ago (he has a trailer), when he saw it he came back around the house and came inside to tell me and the darn thing followed him! it tried to get in for over an hour before my grandpa finally came over with a gun
cause my dad had to leave but it was climbing on the door. it was so playful :worried: they thought they missed it but a week later we realized it had crawled under the trailer & died cause of the horrid smell. i hope your was easier to get rid of.

I will never buy another printer but for Canon. My printers ink is cheap and it is one of the newest model out right now. I paid around $100 for it. I can buy ink for around $10 (ebay) and have it within a week. It’s great. I haven’t ever had trouble out of it. Maybe you should look in to it. My husband and I have the same two printers and his dad has one as well.
I’ve waited around 4 months to hear back from EA Games about my Sims software. AND around 2 months to hear about my Logitech webcam.

Mmm yeah, anything that is EasyShare by Kodak is a POS. We get the cameras and printers people try and return at work all the time. I just wanna laugh at them, I mean really, what computer store is going to take a 5 month old opened and used return :P.
I have to disagree-I got a Kodak Z700 & a series 3 printer dock for my b-day this year ( I still have my old DX series & printer)
Both worked fine-never had any issue with them or the customer support-as someone mentioned ther4e- they mail regularly with software updates and such.Its kinda unfair to rip a company just because you were unlucky enough to get a dodgy one-it happens but I’m sure you get something sorted with Kodak-there customer service policy is very fair :vibes:

Printers can be a pain in the butt!! I swear after 6 months of having a brand new printer, they dont work well.. I think they have a switch for that LOL I hope your feeling better

Reformatting your computer? That’s not drastic, that’s just compleatly silly. You DO need to get to bed Jen. Try plugging something else into your USB port that the printer is in to see if there really IS something wrong with the port. You also might want to try to make the cables prefectly straight from where they come out of the printer (=D It always works with my uber-old super nintendo). =S Where did you buy it? It’s always a good idea to buy the 1-year warranty when it comes to printers. I personally think the HP printers are better though, Kodak is only good for printing out big copies of digital camera pictures at Shoppers Drug Marts and stuff.
I have an HP Printer. Maybe you should buy those. Not sre how much they cost, but so far, I like this printer better than my last one.
My brother has one of those printers. I hope it doesn’t start to give him problems.
I hate reformatting my computer. It takes forever to get everything back on it and everything how you like it.
Wow I haven’t been to your site in so long. Alyssa has grown up so fast. Good luck with your printer situation. If you can’t get that printer straight, get a refund. My kodak camera dock is acting funny to the point that I can’t even charge my batteries.

Reformatting the computer sucks, especially when it doesn’t do what you want it to afterwards. Hopefully the guys at Kodak will give you your money back and do everything satisfactorily. It’s amazing how major companies still don’t take care of their customers, given how important it is for their salesnumbers.

I had problems with my HP printer as well, but I called a specialist and he did his magic.

Yeah sometimes hardware’s like that. Just like my motherboard. My computer worked fine last week and before that but suddenly a few days ago, in the morning, when I first turned on my PC, it didn’t work. And now my motherboard’s broken so my dad has to get me a new motherboard and 2x 512mb memory but it may take a while and now I am forced to use my old PC (which is my mum’s now). Now I realise how slow this PC is. *slaps PC* Argh broken hardware sucks. :yuck:

Ack, a racoon? (thanks to your spellchecking, I even spelled it right!) Those things can get pretty fiesty, watch yourself! My dad has a kodak digital camera and has had no problems with their stuff. I’ve heard from a few people that they suck so I bought an HP camera to be on the safe side ;) I think this layout is gorgeous (lavish) Did you take the picture? It’s beautiful…*takes a breath since she’s rather longwinded*…bye!
I currently use a lexmark printer/scanner/copier. I was a little skeptical with the product at first but I have had no problems with it at all. Just a suggestion if you’re looking to get another printer. And I would absolutely not reformat myc omputer because for the most part that’s not the problem (I usually juts do system restore on winXP)
Electronic devices cause so many headaches… but we can’t live without them. Sucks, doesn’t it?

That’s what I was worried about with the kodak printer.. I was pondering buying it when I bought the camera, but never did. I was just too cheap to buy the supplies for it all the time. :haha:

I hate hardware my computer has a mind of its own it works when i dont need it and stop working when i do need it. Sometimes i just feel like strangling it LOL

I think I would have spent some money on something stupid like a printer instead of buying something nice for my daughter or saving up more for a car. Maybe your daughter would like good clothes from a boutique instead of target. not that there is anything wrong with target………..lol.

That’s exactly the kind of luck I’d have with a printer. Probably why with my next paycheck I’m going to get a cellphone, instead of a new computer (and the works, printer/copier thingy).
