Introduction.

kitty.nu is a domain I’ve wanted for a long time. A couple of years, in fact. When I consciously thought about it, I didn’t have the money. When I had the money, I wasn’t thinking about it. Last week things came together, and I registered kitty.nu over the weekend.

All entries before this one (this goes back to January 2002) have been closed – hidden away from public view. It’s time to wipe the slate clean, so to speak. Perhaps I’ll re-open them, perhaps not. I’m satisfied that they’re still here. I wouldn’t be able to just delete years of journal writing. I plan on keeping these written recordings of my life intact – just private.

So consider this an introduction.

My name is Jennifer. I’m a 20 something female living in [private], Pennsylvania. I am married to my sweetheart of five years, Daniel. We’re happily blessed with a one year old baby girl, Alyssa. We own a cat, a dog, a car, and over $50k in debt. We both work (he is a restaurant manager, I work as GS team member at Target), and we both love each other and our daughter.

I’ve been maintaining a personal website for several years (I owned my very first domain in September 2001), and blogging before the term was really put to use. I manually updated journals on Geocities websites from 1999 to 2001. During and before that I used kiwibox.com and bolt.com as journaling outlets.

Is the switch from KMK.com to kitty.nu permanent? Absolutely.

Ooo, starting anew always feels so good. This design is fresh, like this site and this domain. I like it. Thanks for finally publishing RSS feeds! It makes coming back easier to manage when you read dozens of blogs. Well, best of luck with everything.

I love this name. :) What do you think you’re going to do with kmk? I don’t want it or anything, I’m just curious. :)

Welcome to your new home Jennifer. Bolt…I had an account with them a very long time ago…jeez it must have been 2001?

  12. Great new domain name. It’ is always fun to change and starte new with Domains. I would’nt even concider deleting my journal files. I might keep them myself for save keeping if I ever wanted to start new, but I curently enjoy every now and then going back and reading and seeing how I have grown :) Yeah…

Jen you have done so many changes in the last few days. No longer hosting, new domain name, and well newwp theme which to me seems very mellow and relaxing that seems to say I’ll post when I want to….

  13. Chau wrote on #

Wow… The new domain name’s great!

Oh, I really like this domain name! It’s so much easier to type, too. lol. I’ve been thinking about making all my old archives private or friends only, too. There’s just too many idiots out there that I wouldn’t want reading back on 5+ years of my life, ya know?

p.s. you linked me wrong on the sidebar ;) you forgot stariah at the beginning.

  15. Ally wrote on #

Nice to meet you, Jennifer! ;)

I love the new domain name *goes off to switch out the links*

  16. Nicole wrote on #

Congrats on the new domain! :-D Starting over again can be fun!

Also, does .nu stand for anything? Like how .com is commercial, .net is for networks, and .org is supposed to be for organizations. I was just wondering because they seem rather popular.

    Hey Jenn, I’m Ashley! hehe

Awesome change, I love kitty.nu. I’ll change my links asap.

  18. Yay for NU names! Are you going to keep it more of a minimalist style? {As in no plugboard, Q&A, etc.}

  19. Krissy wrote on #

Wow… new and different. I like it! But I will miss KMK :/ xoxo

Oooh I love the new domain name, simple but cute and still has the kitty theme going on ;) Ever transition I have made from blogs (like using different scripts from b2 towp etc) I pretty much lost all of my enteries haha. Good idea to keep yours, and to keep them private as well :) I love this theme as well, clean, simple, sleek, and pretty :D

Delicious layout. It’s so fresh, and clean. I know what you mean about the whole fresh slate thing. I don’t like what pn.org has really held the last year of so I’ve had it, and I’ve been considering not reregistering it, and just going back to my livejournal. It’s strange how you can be so into having a blog one moment, and then not care the next. I hope kitty.nu goes well for you. :)

I love it! The name is so cool, and this layout reminds me of eating oranges on a beach lol. (random..)

    Good, good, good.

Welcome to the .nu! I have one too and thought yeah, I’ll put that url up instead of the other one. They’re lovely, nice and new and shiny. Expensive, but somehow more special. Good luck with kitty.nu!

I love the new look and the new name but I have to say, my favorite feature about your site was the archives section- I love that it is like a big long story and really set your blog apart from the others out there. I hope you consider opening it back up to all or certain people in the future.

  54. Yvonne wrote on #

It looks fantastic Jenn! Awesome work. As much KMK was almost a “netmark”, kitty.nu sounds very chiq and sophisticated. =)

  55. Jenni wrote on #
