I volunteered for the 6:00am-2:30pm shift on Black Friday. What the fuck was I thinking?! One of my co-workers, A, offered to swap shifts. She’s scheduled for 12:00pm-9:00pm. I need to think this one over a bit.
6:00am-2:30pm is a bumfuck early shift. Working it means just about no sleep. But on the plus side, the day would most likely go pretty quick, and I’d be gone by 2:30pm – meaning I’d miss the real Black Friday “rush”.
12:00pm-9:00pm is an okay shift, during any other day. I’d be able to get a decent amount of sleep. However, this is Black Friday we’re talking about. I’d be there for the worst of it all… and probably ready to kill someone by the end of the evening.
So, it’s sleep vs. sanity. I think sanity is going to win this time around!
Daniel let me know that his brother already signed the paperwork for his new car, so us getting his car (2003 Kia Spectra) on December 5th is definite! Ahh, that day is going to be here before I know it. I’m really excited. I’m sure my mom is too. For the past month I’ve been borrowing her mini-van. In turn, she’s been using my grandfather’s PT Cruiser.
Speaking of the PT Cruiser… I think it’s an ugly car. Worse yet are the ones with racing stripes, and ones with car bras, and ones that are convertible. But worst of all? A convertible PT Cruiser complete with racing stripes and a car bra! I saw one this morning and could only stare in awe and such an ugly looking vehicle.
No offense meant to those PT Cruiser owners who may be reading this. I realize that what I am saying is my opinion, and should never be taken as fact.
I think the worst part of early pregnancy is the sleepiness. I just want to sleep and sleep and sleep. Seriously, if I were home right now (I’m at my mother’s), I could easily go to sleep and not wake up until sometime tomorrow.
I don’t like PT Cruisers either. Good luck on working Black Friday; hopefully it won’t be too awful.
My Dad’s girlfriend is obsessed with PT Cruisers. I think they look like hearse’s that have been kicked in the ass.
I was always tired during my first and second trimesters.
PT Cruisers suck. I can’t wait til Black Friday with all the sales and stuff! Lakeside Mall, here I come! Good luck with the pregnancy. Only 8 more months to go, right?
Car bra? Is that the thing that goes over the front end, like around the lights and such? I hate PT cruisers outright. I don’t see any value in the opinion that some people hold that allows them to buy them. They’re just wrong.
If only most of the men I know could have such an excuse as pregnancy to explain away their sleeping habits ; )
I personally am not a fan of PT Cruisers, but there is a dealer nearby that has about 50 of them on the lot.
I was always dead tired when I was pregnant with Jonathan. And that’s when I was working nights … really takes a lot out of ya.
I hate PT Cruisers too..my husband calls them “PT Losers” lol..

Oh god I HATE the PT cruiser. That car = fug. Don’t get it. Just buy a nice used Honda if it’s cheap (I have been on hiatus from the carmarker for awhile, don’t take my word for it!) But the PT’s ARE under 10k now.

heyyyyyyyyy!!! I used to have a PT Cruiser back in Puerto Rico! In fact.. I LOVE THEM! but it’s ok… most of my friends hated it haha! I’m glad you’re doing well Jenn
I meant to post on your last entry, but I had to run and get my niece and didn’t get back until later. Congrats on the second pregnancy…I can’t even seem to get one…I want a child so bad. Black Friday? What is it exactly? The really early shift sounds like crap but I work from 11am to 9pm about four days a week so yeah….I’m a little out of it in the sanity and the sleep department. Since you’re pregnant, just make sure you don’t get to stressed out and be sure to get enough rest.
I would take the 6:30 am shift. I know you need your sleep – but then you can go home, take a much needed 3-4 hour nap, and spend time with alyssa and Daniel at 5 pm instead of 10pm you know? Thats really awsome about the car! You all are really running into the best of luck lately!
NOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo PTs ROCK Seiriously. I used to think they were ugly too. Till I test drove one. Then I owned one. They are friggin awesome, and I wish I could get my hands on one again.
I don’t think I ever said congrats, but congrats! You must excuse me, I’m a bit saddened by pg women right now. That’s cause I can’t really be one right now.
You know, I’ve always thought the PT Cruisers looked like huge chicken thighs going around the street. That, or giant eggs. Either way, I wouldn’t want to see them going down my streets u_u;
Although 6:00 really is an early assed time to be at work, at least you wouldn’t have to go through the real Black Friday @@; Working on little sleep until nine-thirty pm really doesn’t sound pleasing :x
I pretty much think that the PT Cruiser looks horrid aswell. I mean, when they brought it back did they really think they’d have success with an older looking car with modern aspects? I don’t think so, and I feel that’s why they’re so new now..
Anyways I hope you have fun on Black Friday.. It’s just going to be another day for me.

Wow I only just read your previous blog, CONGRATULATIONS! I am so happy for you Jenn, when I read it I was completely in shock.
Sanity is definitely better than sleep I suppose but lack of sleep can make you insane sometimes so it may not even matter.
Yeah I never liked those PT cruisers. Congrats one more time Jenn and hope everything goes well.
Man Black Friday is rough I worked from 4:30 AM to 3:30 PM in a toystore that day it sucked.

Is Target like Walmart in regards to early sales? If so, keep in mind that there’ll be a HUGE rush early in the morning… without all the animalistic fighting over electronics, I hope.
Isn’t the early shift always the most hectic? Whenever Black Friday rolls around, my mom is always getting me up very early to go shopping.
Ya ^ Everywhere I’ve shopped for Black Friday [incl Target one year] in Texas and California [on and off base] the early shift is the most hectic. If shoppers don’t get there early they don’t get the good deals is the mentality. So why go shopping on Black Friday if you’re not there when the doors open in the AM? This year I’m heading to Wal-Mart for the $398 laptops!

Oh man, see, my situation is worse. I have to work from 5:45am to 2:15 on Black Friday…and I had zero say. We’ll get through it though. Really. We will get through it.

Geez, hope you get the better shift and survive black friday hell. I vividly remember working that day at Ames when they were still open up here and it was horrible! People were willing to break each other’s arms off to get something first.
