How it seems to go.

Can someone tell me why moving during pregnancy is always such a popular thing? And not only that, but moving during late pregnancy!? I was about 29 weeks pregnant with Alyssa when we moved to our two bedroom home. This time around I’ll be pushing 34 weeks. Nothing like last minute, eh? ;)

But then, it makes sense that a lot of people would move during pregnancy… after all, most people don’t rent or purchase a home based on the amount of children they might get accidentally knocked up with have (not that this baby was an accident; he was planned!). No, they go on their current family size. And then, oops, there’s a baby coming, we need more room! But you’d think people would try to get this nasty business of finding a new residence asap during their first or second trimester… not their third. Unlike me (twice now), and in fact when my family moved from Philadelphia to [private] my mother was well in her third trimester as well. Pfft. It must run in the family.

Of course, there’s a few nice things about moving while pregnant. Actually, okay… maybe just one: not having to haul ass and do all sorts of heavy lifting and moving. Sure, I’ll be organizing and packing and labeling boxes, but other than that and dictating overseeing the placement of furniture and said boxes in the new house (something I’m sure my husband and his brothers will love), my work is done.

Anyway. I just wrapped up paying some bills (one of which took about twenty minutes, since my electronic company insists on using faulty, half-deaf voice-recognition-based phonebots), and I think I’m going to go take a nap for a bit. I’m still waiting on a call back from the development managers on when we can head over to the house, and I’m really anxious to hear from them. We have our work cut out for us. For Alyssa’s bedroom, it currently has three walls that are light wood paneling, and the fourth is plain white. We need to get in there and get some joint compound into the grooves of the paneling, then sand away the excess, then put the primer on, and finally the fun stuff – the paint (which I’m sure I’ll manage to get all over everything, including myself and family members, since I’m sloppy like that)!

And hey, just for kicks, here’s a fun little “Ask me anything!” meme:
Go ahead and ask me anything! This is your chance to ask questions on things you feel you should know but don’t, or questions about vague things mentioned in past blog entries. Go ahead, don’t be shy (but don’t be rude!). :)

P.S. Dear Baby (whom we still have not chosen a name for, but believe me we’re looking!),
There are two things Mommy is kindly asking you to stop doing:
1) Jamming your feet/hands into my ribs. You do it to the point where I feel my ribs pushing outwards/onto each other to make room. This really, really hurts. Please keep your hands and feet in their upright and locked position – next to your head and tucked up against your butt!

2) Rapid-fire punches and kicks at my ribs. One isn’t enough? Please tell me that five isn’t really neccessary.

3) Stretching out. Stretching is not bad, but positioning yourself lengthwise across the width of my belly so that your feet are at one side of my body and your head and hands at the other and then stretching as much as possible is not cool. This causes my belly to physically protrude outwards from both sides of my body, and not only does it look weird, but it feels weird. Very weird.

Love and chocolate,
A sore and achy Mommy

  1. not to be rude, but are you sure it’s wise to paint and prime while you’re pregnant? and before anyone says anything, i do have a child, so i know what it’s like to be pregnant…..

I’ve done some researching on it, and even though the results were inconclusive I’m not going to risk it. I’ll help with scrubbing the walls down (regular detergent) and applying the compound and then sanding the excess away, but I’ll probably leave the actual priming and painting to my husband. -Jenn

Every major paint company now makes “baby safe” paint. Ask you pediatrician, as long as you get the right paint, there’s no reason you can’t do it while pregnant.

Haha, aww that’s sounds like a whole lot of adventure while pregnant. However, congrats with the move. I love moving into new places. What color scheme are you planning on for the baby’s room? That would be so much fun picking out paint though… always lived in apartments, so I’m used to white… it’s sad really!

  4. Here’s a thought drop the kid off in the same exact developement as your mother where you will be painting. Probably 5 mins tops. Then move everything you can except daily necessities. Then spend one night at your mom’s and take your blow dryer, hair curler, etc. with you when you leave. I don’t see the logic of anyone moving into their mother’s house when they currently have a house that they are paying rent on. Now I have friends who have put most of their stuff in storage and stay with friends/relatives when the lease was up on on their apartment and their house wasn’t ready to be moved in, ye.t Just because it will be easier to move stuff? And she can watch the kid? Is it a PA thing or something… ?

I just want to know why I haven’t gotten any replies back from when I have emailed you about the renewing of my domain. I sent you the money order for it to your PO Box almost 2 months ago. It was a 20 dollar one. Please, please, please let me know. I have sent a few emails, plus asked in the question and answer section (Sorry about that by the way). And the domain was http://www.blissful-vengeance.org and my email is in the comment.

    Congrats again on the house!

Stephanie, I had e-mailed you a few weeks ago on this, but I’ll respond here & e-mail again. By the time the payment was received your domain name went into redemption. When that happens the cost of renewal goes up – big time (around $160). The hosting is still in place and so are all of your files; I’m checking on the domain daily to wait for it to be released so that it can be renewed. -Jenn

Congrats on the house. I completely missed the entry about you moving. I was so confused. I bet you are excited though!

Oh, and the reason why I sent the money order is because you said you could renew it for me.

Just so ya know – my midwife told me it was A-OK to paint in your third trimester as long as the room is VERY well ventilated – open all doors and windows so you have a steady stream of clean air going through. Take frequent breaks. It probably wouldn’t hurt to wear one of those masks – I did when painting Taylor’s room. Though, I probably wouldn’t do the priming or the sanding – especially the sanding.

Look for a low or no VOC paint. We bought a low VOC paint at Lowe’s.. I can’t remember the brand off the top of my head.

  9. Stephanie, click my name which will bring you to my personal “contact me” link and I can get that domain of yours registered through a more reputable source

  10. ok wrong link… try clicking on my name again ;)

First off congrats on the move. We still haven’t gotten to that yet and I only have one week left, if that.

I found the “Dear Baby” very funny and cute. I can totally relate.
