LiveJournal.com and breastfeeding
Recently, some of the administrators have decided that having breastfeeding icons set as default images are a big no-no, due to breastfeeding being so damn obscene and all that (can you detect the sarcasm?). Please, take a few moments of your time to read and submit this letter. Also, if possible, try to choose a breastfeeding-related icon to use as your default icon. When it comes right down to it, they can’t ignore letter after letter, and they can’t suspend thousands of users (how on earth would they begin to find them all?)!

A few days ago somebody (I’m so sorry, I can’t remember who) tagged me for the “Show us the contents of your makeup bag!” meme. So without further ado, the contents I have in my bag right now. I say “right now” because usually there’s a lot more, but it’s all packed away.
Pregnancy
So I’m now 31 weeks pregnant. I’ve been feeling very achy today, as well as feeling really full and uncomfortable in the whole pelvic region. I also had some painful contractions off and on. Oy. And of course, lots and lots of baby movements. In fact, the other night Daniel and I got to enjoy fifteen minutes of uninterrupted baby movements, due to the gummi bear (that’s right, still no name) having a case of the hiccups.

Aww! That is a very cute and good vexel of Alyssa. That whole LJ thing is kind of crazy. To let something go for so long and now want to say and/or stop something now really doesn’t make sense.
Your make-up bag looks pretty full now lol.. I’m curious what it looks like when completely loaded.
Unfortunately I don’t really wear much make-up. I’m addicted to M-A-C Cosmetics, but all I really wear is mascara and a little lip liner with lip glass.. If not that, just some gloss. I am so damn plain lol. Anyways, take care and congratulations on your 31 weeks!

*frowns* I’m not overly fond of (o.k., not fond at all) of the nipple-baring icons but breastfeeding ones in general? I could understand a ‘no nudity’ rule but no breastfeeding sounds very stupid to me, yes.
Are those metal-free pony-tail holders? : P I love those. I’ve snapped several of them trying to put them on too tightly but they’re worth it. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten one tangled in my hair.
And thank you, by the way. People have been asking me, ‘Does Jenn like the vexel?’ I want to say, ‘Go ask her! You know where she is!’ But of course, not frustrated at all *ahem*
Yes! I love the metal-free ones. The metal-free ones are horrible when they break, because somehow it’s always the metal piece that snaps back onto your knuckle, and damn does that hurt. And you’re welcome. I wanted to post this to 1) show off your awesome work and 2) put a halt to the various comments and e-mails that I was receiving as well, “blabbing” about what you “did”. Wow, that’s a really fantastic vexel – is it good print quality? Can’t understand how breast feeding icons are so offensive either… I guess people forget that they were babies once, who had mothers, who had to feed them…
The breast feeding thing is ri-fucking-diculous. I could understand if your default icon was a raging penis, but a child eating? Mmmkay, whatever.
Not that I want them to get rid of the raging penises. Not at all, really… just… uh… yeah. Yeeeeaaaah.
i saw that vexel on v.net and instantly recognised little alyssa even though echo added more hair. shes so gorgeous, and i knew you would love echo’s artpiece.
I dont have a livejournal so I cant really do much about the fact, but I do agree with you and think they are total idiots for thinking breastfeeding, a totally natural thing, to be “obscene”

Wow I sort of stumbled upon your site and I just wanted to tell you that your daughter is beautiful and that I hope your next pregnancy goes well. I adore children and I hate waiting to have my first one if I could choose I’d have one now but alas college must come first.
I went ahead and sent a letter to livejournal, that really is stupid. It happens to be one of the most natural things and yet they think its obscene. I really hope that they fix the problem.
wait…that doesn’t make sense?! how can Livejournal allow nudity and pornographic images in icons but not breastfeeding which is not obscene at all? i cant stand how the LJ team is messing with LJ so much and changing things around. i liked it before it was run by the people currently in control of LJ >:/
a bunch of people showed their makeup bags & had bonne bell chapsticks & stuff in there and i felt so good because i thought i was the only person over 12 that used that stuff!!!! so now i see that many are coming out of the bonne bell closet ;) (plus they don’t test on animals – so yayaya!)
as for the breastfeeding icons… the world is becoming sadder each day. *sigh* so disappointing…

If they can have default icons of people flashing off their bits, then they should be able to have icons of breastfeeding. Afterall, you’re not really seeing the nipple or anything.
LiveJournal’s abuse team has never made any sense. They’re reknowned for being arbitrary and ridiculous (see my blog). I’m not even a mom and I’m going to find a breastfeeding icon to set as my default now.

Ok, Kat’s earlier comment was right on.I tell you, I can’t count how many ejaculating peters I’ve seen in LJ icons. I never understood the whole thing about people being weirded out over seeing a mother breast feeding. It’s a natural thing. Now I understand why I haven’t been on LJ for a while.
