Hear me roar.

I’m all for being proud of being a woman and all the lovely little tortures joys my body puts me through, but Mother Nature, cut me a break! Why am I bleeding already?! It’s only been eight weeks! And I’m exclusively breastfeeding, on demand and around the clock! We don’t use pacifiers! We co-sleep! I sling him! I shun formula, Wal-Mart and disposable diapers! Doesn’t that please the Powers That Be enough to hold off with the periods for at least another month or two?

I didn’t have one for over a year when I breastfed Taylor. I breastfed the twins for 2 months and my period started. Frustrating, I know.

Oh.. lucky lucky you… You’d think that mother nature would just give us all a break from our little “friend” but of course not! Hopefully it isn’t TOO bad.

*shakes fist at the m. cycle*

I hate having periods,. Must be even worse after you’ve had a baby, what with the… vagina stretching and stuff. *shudder* =P

Bummer. Screw the granola for today – what you need is doritos and a chocolate bar.

Well, we try to tell mother nature to stop with the damn hurricanes, can’t we?

Is co-sleeping safe? Don\’t you think it\’s a bit irresponsible and risking your child\’s safety?

Co-sleeping is safe when done responsibly; ie: not having sheets/blankets/pillows near baby, keeping baby on his back, not allowing baby to roll into the mother, mothers who are heavy sleepers shouldn\’t co-sleep, etc. Ryan goes to sleep in a cradle next to our bed at night; when he awakens throughout the night/morning for feedings I bring him into bed with us to nurse and sleep.
Although I do sleep when Ryan is sleeping with us, I don\’t sleep heavily at all: the moment I hear a change in his breathing pattern, he wakes up, or rustles around, I wake up.

Believe it or not, most parents who practice co-sleeping (whether it\’s all the time, some of the time, or even for naps) are very aware of their child\’s presence, even when they themselves are sleeping.

Referring to the comment above, co-sleeping, not sleeping the same bed, as in when Ryan goes to sleep so does Jenn. right?

Aww, I’m sorry it’s come back so soon, & it sucks naturally anyway, but yeah.

I hope you feel better soon. :]

Don’t you just love the irony?

    “Dora the Explorer.
(Along with any other child’s toy that promotes any language other than English.)
Call me racist. Call me close-minded. Call me ignorant. Go ahead. I don’t give a damn – my daughter lives in America. The primary language in America is English – and I intend to do my part to preserve and encourage that.
If she wants to take Spanish or Latin or German or Russian or Pig Latin in high school, more power to her. But I refuse to dump other languages into her vocabulary and brain before then. English only, thank you.”

Ahhh! We can’t control what our children like to watch no matter how much we’d like to. I’d like to shoot Barney in the head, but Sydney likes him. Not so much anymore, but I have to say at about 1 and a half she was really like *squeals* Barney *squeals*

She’s always been in love with Dora though, but she hates Diego really unless Dora is on there. I find it’s helping her with the whole acceptance to different shades of people and she’s picking up rather nicely on Spanish. That can’t do anything but help her seeing as how our town is 50% plus hispanic.

Gosh, this had nothing to do with anything. Haha.

Jenn, shunning that stuff you listed does not make you a better mother or person in the eyes of “The Powers That Be”. Especially enough to stop your cycle. No one deserves something bad all because their child needs a pacifier. To have your cycle 8 weeks after birth is natural and normal. Why wouldn’t it be otherwise?

Arleigh, as far as I can tell Jenn speaks English so I assume that she’s taught her daughter English also. And like it or not bilingual people have an advantage over those who are not. Here in CA a bilingual person will automatically get paid more than somebody who is not on the same job. So I don’t see how Alysa learning how to say Agua and Azul is going to be BAD for her. *shrug*

Dora also teaches that stealing things is cute and that when you are doing it everyybody will stop what they are doing and pay attention to only you. And! That you will get away with no punichment every time. But that doesn’t mean that Alyssa is going to be a cornic shoplifter when she gets older either. Dora won’t turn you into a Mexican and Telitubbies won’t make you gay. Barney CAN cause you to go insane though. ;)

I didn’t have a period till about four months onto breastfeeding. Although, my normal cycle is so screwed up that I’m REALLY not one to be telling you what is “normal” in that regards!

    AND SCREW YOU MOTHER NATURE!

yeah it’s really common to get your period back while breastfeeding…….. that’s why that method of BC doesn’t work.

I sincerely hope that I get my period back pretty quickly after any of my future pregnancies. I might not enjoy it, but at least I know that when it comes my body is cleansing itself & that everything should be fine healthywise in that department.

I got mine back after my 1st at 6 weeks. With my second I nursed and supplemented and didn’t have a period til 15 months post. I can’t remember when it came back with the twins. I think it was about a year.

Angela, not having your period for a few months is not unhealthy at all. My GNY has told me before vacations to skip the 7 days of placebo pills and jump to the next pack to purposely miss periods. It’s the same idea behind the Seasonale that Ranee takes to skip periods for three months at a time.

And you’ve never had kids so you don’t have a first had appreciation for the amount of bleeding you do in the days after birth. Believe me, it’s enough to last a YEARS worth of periods. You’ll be just as happy as most new mothers are to NOT be having it for awhile. ;)

Ranee started her seasonale pack on Sunday, that’ 13 weks of no period. So far so good. Unfortunately 13 weeks is right at Christmas. How mean are the powers that be on that one? So I’m skipping the placebos and going right for another week and then I’ll just do them. Ahhh a period free holiday season, my first ever. And like I said if you aren’t planning on making babies anytime soon Seasonale is awesome! If you can get through the first 3 months.
