What the hell?

Shooting at Amish schoolhouse.

^ This happened today, about fifteen miles away from where I live. I’ve driven by that schoolhouse countless times, stopped for the buggies going by it, waved at the children going to and from it… what the hell is the matter with people today???

I just heard about it while logging online today. Strange thing is, I read “[private]“, and instantly thought of you.
All we need is another columbine.

Katy, on October 02 2006 at 2:51pm:

OMG. I just don’t understand some people at all.

Off topic – I LOVE the new theme.

Nan, on October 02 2006 at 3:03pm:

I saw that in the international news as well – I saw that it was close to [private] county and I remembered that it is around where you live – crazy.

What are those dressed up people – dressed up in a old fashioned way?

They\’re Amish. -Jenn

Amy, on October 02 2006 at 3:32pm:

I saw it on CNN, when they flashed [private] county & immidiately thought of you. Hope your family and friends are all ok.

Sara, on October 02 2006 at 3:47pm:

What is up with people and school shootings lately? I mean, what the hell?! Of all the places. Why not shoot up a bank instead, or somewhere logical… Geez. I hate this.

My boyfriend told me the story, he has relatives in [private].

The Pajama Mama, on October 02 2006 at 4:11pm:

I can’t belive that. If you want to take your own life, go for it. But why take innocent young victims with you? What a horrible event!

Kari, on October 02 2006 at 4:13pm:

Thats very sad :( It’s horrible to think that people are so freakin….I don’t even know because stupid doesn’t cover it. These kids did nothing wrong, and for them the be punished and killed “execution style” for something that happened, what did it say? 20 years ago? Ridiculous. Makes me sooooo angry….

Raisy, on October 02 2006 at 5:23pm:

I was shocked. Especially considering the fact that this is the third school shooting that we’ve seen in a WEEK, and the fourth in a month (including that tragedy in Montreal). It’s crazy. Innocent children are being killed for no reason. What on earth has the world come to?

Lena, on October 02 2006 at 7:59pm:

Yes this is very sad! I wish people would leave children alone! I dont understand why people do these things it’s so sad and my heart goes out to the families.

Kimberly, on October 02 2006 at 8:44pm:

Wrote you on vox, dear. :)

Leesha, on October 02 2006 at 10:02pm:

I can’t understand it either…people really make me sick. I’m starting school in January to be an elementary school teacher and Joe is terrified because of all the school shootings lately.

The sad fact is that no where is really safe anymore. If a person can’t feel safe sending their children to school, where else can they go?

Kimberley, on October 02 2006 at 10:28pm:

what the hell is going on with the world? :( the thing was … is that something happened to him when he was *12* and just NOW he took it out on the three females? (and, more who were injured!) — i wonder what the heck happened to him 20 years ago to make him kill little kids. especially when he had three of his own!!!

Ashley, on October 03 2006 at 12:11am:

Those poor little girls :(

Chaz, on October 03 2006 at 2:07am:

I don’t understand what’s wrong with people. I honestly don’t. People can be so stupid at times.

Pip, on October 03 2006 at 2:20am:

The world is pretty screwed up now-a-days. I wish people listened to their mothers and thought before they acted.
I live in NZ and everyone thinks we’re this innocent little country and hardly anyone knows we exist but I was watching the news this evening and just everything on it is about killings, shootings and what-not. Shame on the world! Lol.

Leslie, on October 03 2006 at 2:31am:

People are freakin’ crazy. It’s no wonder WHY I worry about sending my son to school every day. It’s terrible we even have to worry about that sort of thing in our schools.

Hilary, on October 03 2006 at 8:32am:

I saw that on the news yesterday, thats really sad. i heard that it was about revenge for something that happened like 20 years ago but i may not have heard right. i dont understand how people can do that stuff.

Agnes, on October 03 2006 at 9:16am:

i just saw it in the news, here in norway. It was the fifth shooting on a school in USA this week or something :o
And the man who shot, had to revenge for a thing 20 years ago!

Laur, on October 04 2006 at 12:07am:

I heard about that, he had a check list of stuff he had and whatever, he shot i dont know how many girls, and a couple are in serious condition. He said he did it because a while back he raped some of his family members and he was having dreams about raping again, his intentions where to rape those poor girls… Some people these days, he could of went to a mental hospital and got help for his thoughts. To think we have men and woman lirking around this earth as horrible as that :(

Nikki, on October 04 2006 at 6:13am:

I just heard on the news that there are going to be some people picketing the funerals of the little girls because they have a beef with the governor or something. These are the same people who picket US soldiers’ funerals. I think it’s awful that people would push their agenda in this manner, especially doing that to people who have nothing to do with the governor. I hope that the people in the community will do everything to keep those crazies away from the grieving families..

alana, on October 04 2006 at 9:13am:

Yeah the amish school killing is all over the news even here in Australia. He’s sick. It was on the news that he molested reletives as a young boy and wanted to again.

Aidan, on October 04 2006 at 12:20pm:

Yeah that story is truly sick. I dont even want to fully think about all of it. I have been reading up alot on everything that I can about this school shooting. It is simply crazy how he was wanting to “seek revenge” about something that happened twenty years ago. Though with further reading, I found out that he had molested some female family members, and had confided in his wife telling her this, and how he was having dreams of doing it again…. yikes!

What is the world comming to? What is the US school system coming too? There has only been three Canadian School shootsing that I can think of, though there are always reports of children/teenagers/gang members bringing handguns to school, or knifes etc. Though they get caught. I’m not saying how Canadian school system is better at keeping the bad stuff out, just that school violence sucks.

Nicolah, on October 04 2006 at 12:27pm:

I think that’s the saddest thing.

Dorka, on October 04 2006 at 2:29pm:

It’s insane! They said that’s the 3rd school shooting in the last week. Things like that make me never want to let AJ out of my sight.

Sarah, on October 04 2006 at 6:30pm:

It was headline news here in Australia yesterday. To be honest, when I first heard it was near [private], i thought of you. :S

I’m so thankful we don’t have school shootings here in Australia.. god…

callan, on October 04 2006 at 8:35pm:

yeah I heard about it yesterday on the news. And I just don’t understand why…. seriously did they have any reason. Some people are just sick.

Sara, on October 05 2006 at 2:44am:

First of all, congratulations on your second wedding anniversary, second, your family is as beautiful as ever. Everyone is growing and changing.. its amazing how fast time goes by…

The shooting was amazingly scary. I remember watching the news at work (the stock market) when they immediately and suddenly switched to scratchy images of the schoolhouse…. and not knowin anything that was going on. The amish are so quiet, keep to themselves… I’ve only seen them being peaceful.. how could someone be so hurtful to such a community? Furthermore, how could someone shoot children? The youngest was six.. that is just a wee bit older then Alyssa.. what if she had been there? what if the situation was different? Its so scary.. I’m happy I do not go to a public school..

Last week with the Colorado shooting, leaving the principal dead… then the shooting scare in Las Vegas, where the gunman ran off campus into a housing development (about an hour/2hours before the Amish school shooting).. its appalling..and scary.

Rachelle, on October 05 2006 at 6:15am:

Congratulations on your anniversary :D

I’ve heard about the shooting in Singapore from the newspapers.
It sounds scary.

Jenn As the domain name suggests, my name is Jenn, and I own this blog. I'm 26 years old and married to my one true ♥, Daniel. And while I have two kids (Alyssa is five, and Ryan is three), you won't find "mommy" in my username or email address, nor does my blog revolve around them. I'm a mother, but most importantly I am me, with a passion for love, blogging, reading, and photography. I'm also a busy freelance writer, web designer & SEO goddess.
