I'm so tired, and so frustrated. Boy Child has been a pain in the ass all day in regards to nursing. He'll nurse for a minute, pop off and look around, then whine and fidget when he can't latch back on without my assistance. After fifteen minutes of this I gave up and put him in his crib, where he proceeded to wail for the next fifteen minutes while I did my best to tune him out.

Girl Child hasn't been napping very well lately, and for the last few nights hasn't gone to sleep until after 3:00am, and is then popping back up by 10:00am. Have I mentioned her bedtime is at 10:00pm? We've checked her diaper, given her a refill on her sippy cup, gave her a bowl of hot cereal, re-tucked in her, read her stories, etc. All to no avail. Last night Husband and I just shook our heads when, at 2:00am, we were ready for bed and Girl Child was banging on her toy piano. So we went to bed. Who knows if she did.
Because she isn't sleeping much (if at all?), she's been a whining, crying, miserable little brat from the time she gets up until her “bedtime” (ha!).

Today, I had it. Boy Child wailed in his room (see first paragraph), Girl Child whined and threw toys around in hers, and I went into the bathroom, drew a bath, got in and cried. I admit, it's days like this that I just want to slap myself silly for wanting to have two children so close together. I look in envy upon the mothers and fathers who spaced their children three or four years apart. WHAT THE FUCK WERE WE THINKING?!

But it's okay. Breathe. I brought the kids over to my mother's house, just to have a different set of walls to look at, more people to be around, and different toys to play with. Amazingly enough, Boy Child went back to nursing with uninterrupted gusto, Girl Child fell asleep on the couch, and I had a bit of quiet time to myself.

And Husband has off tomorrow, and has graciously offered to take over kid duties for the day. I've accepted, and plan on holing up in the bedroom with snacks, the laptop and the breast pump. Tomorrow can't come soon enough!
