Silly Jenn decided that it wouldn’t be a big deal to wait until last minute to go grocery shopping. Silly, silly Jenn.

Traffic was hell. And that’s saying something, since I live in the boonies and “traffic” consists of some pick-up trucks, some cars, and lots of Amish buggies.

I had to go to two different grocery stores to get everything I needed, and I probably spent more time fighting for parking spots and trying to navigate in and out of lanes in each grocery store’s parking lot than in the store itself, but I got everything. Our uber yummylicious Christmas dinner will consist of a roasted chicken, stuffing, homemade mashed potatoes, green been casserole, buttered corn and dinner rolls.

Dessert will be just as tasty, if I have any room for it. My mother is bringing a Christmas tree cake that she’s going to make herself, and I’m contributing three kinds of cookies: shortbread Christmas tree and stocking shaped cookies (the trees are topped with green sugar crystals and the stockings are topped with red sugar crystals), M&M (red and green, of course) topped cookies, and finally, shortbread sprinkled filled cookies that Shannon posted an awesome picture (and recipe!) of. The only difference is that my sprinkle filled cookies will be all red, as an old woman beat me to the last container of red and green sprinkles at one grocery store. At the other grocery store I nabbed the very last container of red sprinkles. As it was, I nearly elbowed aside another hellbent-on-sprinkles-soccer-mom heading towards them.

Today will be spent baking cookies. We’re going to my mother’s house for a Christmas Eve dinner, and afterwards we’re going to a Christmas Eve mass (we found a Catholic church here! Yayness! More on that later…). Then my mother and I are going over to my grandfather’s house to wrap all of her presents. Once all that is done I’ll come home and fall into bed.

Tomorrow will be busy, busy, busy. We’re having a Christmas breakfast here – just the four of us. And opening presents, of course (I’ll finally find out what this is!). Then we’ll go to Daniel’s mother’s house, Daniel’s grandmother’s house, hit up his aunt and uncle’s house, and possibly stop by another aunt and uncle’s house. Then we’ll come back home and get Christmas dinner going. My family will come over and we’ll all have dinner and exchange gifts.

Whew. I’m going to be knocked out by tomorrow night. :P
