1.What did you do in 2006 that you’d never done before?
I underwent surgery (c-section). I also breastfed without the aid of nipple shields. Yes, this is lame, but it means a lot to me.
2.Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I believe so. One of my biggest resolutions at the end of 2005 was to work on relationships with my family. I think I’ve accomplished that (Mom, feel free to correct me).
3.Did anyone close to you give birth?
Besides myself? Nobody.
4.Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully, no. Between our two families we had a death in 2003, 2004 and 2005. 2006 seems to have broken that trend! (Now watch, someone will drop over within the next hour and 19 minutes)
5.What countries did you visit?
None. USA is good enough for me!
6.What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
More money, haha.
7.What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
July 26th, 2006. My son was born that day.
8.What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Personal: becoming closer with my husband.
Financial: learning to budget better!
9.What was your biggest failure?
Pfft, like I’m going to air that publicly.
10.Did you suffer illness or injury?
No.
11.What was the best thing you bought?
My new digital camera – HP Photosmart R967
12.Whose behavior merited celebration?
My youngest brother’s. He is really coming out of his shell and making more of an effort to talk to people and make friends. I’m very proud of him.
13.Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My younger brother’s (not the one mentioned in #12). He has turned into one of those tyrant children who get hustled onto the Maury show and then hauled off to boot camp. Sigh.
14.Where did most of your money go?
Bills, where else?
15.What events did you get really, really, really excited about?
The birth of our son, and moving into our new home. In that order.
16.What song will always remind you of 2006?
Um. I have no idea. I haven’t paid that much attention to songs.
17.Compared to this time last year, are you:
i.happier or sadder? Happier, definitely.
ii.thinner or fatter? Thinner, by about 30 lbs.!
iii.richer or poorer? Richer.
18.What do you wish you’d done more of?
Socializing. I got rather wrapped up with family and such, and didn’t leave much time for getting together with others.
19.What do you wish you’d done less of?
Spending money. Our savings account is just pfffffffffft.
20.How will you be spending Christmas?
Opening presents, visiting family, and having dinner here.
21.Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
My mom, haha. I am lame.
22.Did you fall in love in 2006?
Yes… more in love with my husband, more in love with my daughter, and definitely in love with my son.
23. How many one-night stands?
NONE. Geez.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Nip / Tuck, fo’ shizzle.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No.
26. What was the best book you read?
Too many to name just one.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery or rediscovery?
N/A
28. What did you want and get?
A new home. Whee!
29. What did you want and not get?
Besides more money? New nightstands for our bedroom, and a new computer desk.
30. What were your favorite films of this year?
Silent Hill was decent. Other than that I didn’t see too many new movies.
31.What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I fought with my husband* and my mother. I turned 22.
*My husband has ruined three occasions this year: his birthday, my birthday and Halloween. Jerk.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A few people being honest about the things that bothered them. A few other people learning to shut their mouths about things that don’t concern them. And finally, a few family issues that still aren’t resolved, and cause continual frustration day after day after day.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Casual and comfortable. Must fit over preggo belly. Must not ride up to expose preggo belly and bunch up around the huge boobs. Now that I’m not pregnant, the shirts must fit my increased chest size and come down low enough to cover the “pouch” my son left me with.
I am a mess.
34. What kept you sane?
Sanity is relative, don’t you think? Anyway, what kept me sane was having people to vent to. You know who you are – thank you.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most/least?
None.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Probably the war in Iraq… but isn’t that going to be a lot of people’s “pet” issue?
37. Whom did you miss?
My grandmother, my father.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Lisa!
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
People need to stop worrying so much about others, and concentrate instead on their own lives and issues. I’ve really followed this advice (and reminded others of the same), and have been so much happier since doing so. I live in a “Jenn” bubble, and that’s just fine with me.
40. Do you have any lost feelings of others.
…what?
41.Quote a song that sums up your year:
Sorry, but I’m not having anything worthwhile come to mind.
