Who needs a title?

This kid is just happy. All. Of. The. Time. He wakes up smiling. He laughs when we change his diaper. He giggles, coos and shrieks randomly throughout the day. He chuckles (like he’s doing in the above photos) when he knows he’s going to be fed. Seriously… I’m beginning to think someone slipped me happy pills the entire nine months of my pregnancy. Ryan is my little ray of sunshine.
Alyssa, on the other hand… oy. She’s very grumpy. My mother has dubbed her the little black rain cloud, and I really think she hit the nail on the head there! She glares, she frowns, she stomps around. She’s just very grumpy, always looking sour faced.

Speaking of attitudes… WTF is with most people on the internet nowadays? Seriously. Everybody is just so freaking bitchy. The cattiness and snideness has invaded just about every corner of the internet, it seems. Now don’t get me wrong; I’m not looking for rainbows and flowers 100% of the time: I am realistic. But everyone is so busy being bitchy and moody and nasty that there’s no room left for anything…nice. I’m sure that most of our mothers taught us the well known line, “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”. Anymore I feel like I’m one of the minority that actually follows that…

But maybe it’s just a trend. When I first started using the internet in 1999, everybody was cool, happy. The internet is new, it’s exciting! Let’s chat in horrible browser crashing chatrooms. Let’s talk on ICQ. Let’s e-mail. Let’s be bestest friends forever!
Then the emos came along. Woe is me, let me write poetry with the blood that runs from my everlasting and invigorating wounds…
Then the punks. A bunch of angsty little shits who were pissed because Mommy grounded them and Daddy wouldn’t let them drive his car.
And now we have the group that’s in serious need of some midol, stat.

I’m so glad I was a part of the first “scene”. A little eager and dorky perhaps, but at least we weren’t out tearing everyone down all of the time.
Seriously now… where’s the love?

  1. I could think of a lot of different theories why there are more problems ‘now’ than ‘then’ –

It could have to do with your perception of the world as you age. Maybe there were problems back then, but they just passed by you?

It could also do with the amount of bloggers there are now as opposed to then. The numbers don’t seem different (it seemed like there were a lot of people around then too), but I’m pretty darn sure that there are a LOT more personal sites and blogs out there now. And with more people comes more chances of shoulders rubbing the wrong way.

I don’t really think that there’s a trend of bitchiness. I’ve noticed some people who make sites and all they do on that site is… well, say mean things. And maybe for those people, it’s a phase. But I don’t think the whole internet is going through that phase – I remember people doing stuff like that ‘back in the day’ as well. Belinda of immortalised.net (She didn’t own immortalised back then, though) left me a rather scathing review that made me feel like she was one heck of a bitch.

I re-met her recently (er, two years ago), and you know what? She’s a sweetheart. So either she changed, or else the way I saw her changed. I’m not sure which.

As far as Alyssa vs Ryan?
I’m not a mom, so I have no idea. Maybe she’s just jealous?

  2. Well, at least you can say you have both sides of the coin with Alyssa being a grump and Ryan being super happy :P.

As far as the cattyness, I think we’re just getting old :P. Seriously :(. That and theres so many more websites and blogs out now then there were back then.

  3. I forgot, yay for buying Graco baby products :P! My Dad has worked there for like 15 years and he swears by them. He says his grandkids won’t have anything less because he knows how well made the kid seats, etc are.

Lol, I know what you mean! Apparently every little thing sets off someone and then it’s a cycle of blogging revenge!!

Ryan is adorable. Maybe Alyssa has a case of the “sibling rivalries”?

  5. Heh, what a happy lil boy. I wonder why Alyssa’s being a grouchy pants..

I don’t think there’s a trend of bitchiness, it really depends on who you associate with. There are probably people who seem wonderful to you but other people think of as bitches : P

Ryan looks so adorable, as always.

As far as the bitchyness goes on the net, I think I’ve noticed it gone up within the past few years. I’ve been active on the net since 2001 so I’ve seen a bit of a rise. Not to mention I’ve noticed a lot more tween sites which have the same celeb em layouts talking about how bored they are. Bleh.

I hope I get a happy baby like Ryan one day. I know about the grumpy ones. My friends baby (he just turned one) is crying and screaming constantly. He is always upset about something.

I LOVE happy babies, smiling all the time. I’m sure Alyssa is just going through a phase. Jordan can get extremely grumpy and I have no idea why; we live in a positive household.

I wish I knew what was up some people’s asses (you know one for sure that I’m talking about). They feel the need to bitch and fucking moan about everything and it irks me to no end.

  10. I found you, I found you. I had a feeling you had a website going again Jen. I just did not want to email you about it, or question you on Lavish. I missed you while you were gone! Yeah …

Infants are always so cheerful, though the little toddlers learn about grumpy moods, and have all sorts of fun with it. I have realized that with working with those age groups! :) Yeah! I’m sure your little black rain cloud will grow out of it by the time she is a teenager :) *hehe*

I too remember the good old days of the internet. Everyone just automatically became “Friends” chatting in java chat rooms, back when everyone exchange ICQ numbers (I still remember mine!) I guess the internet has now collided with the real world attitude! I’m still the nice and kind person I once was, I dont get myself involved with any of the ranting, bitching and drama between others!

Maybe Alyssa is feeling alittle jealous? (but I’m still in highschool so you shouldn’t judge on that :P)

I don’t think there’s a bitchiness trend, I guess it’s just where you go.. I think I ended up on the net ’99, too.. ‘cept mine wasn’t to do the things I do now (mainly looking at show sites) and then I ended up in the crowd of funny/dorky/Elvish-speaking people and now, in these circles. Which, throughout all the scenes I’ve been through.. I see the bitchiness but I think it’s died down alittle.

J went through a grumpy phase. I think it is part of them learning to convey their emotions. *shrugs* He’s pretty happy most days, so it was definitely just a phase with him.

He definately is a happy little guy. Such a cutie pie :) I think AJ is a little bit in between…. happy, but also has his moments. Of course, when he was a baby. he was always happy. It was until he started hearing the word NO that he acted out. hehe.

I remember the good ol’ days. I do miss them. But for the mostpart, I just ignore the drama and attitudes that happen on the net.

Rosemarie – the numbers thing definitely makes sense. And could it be perception? Perhaps. Maybe it is just me getting old, haha.
With Alyssa, I try my best to make sure there aren’t any jealousy issues. She has been a little grump since birth, though. Looking back at her photos, I can’t believe how few there are of her actually smiling!

Angela – that’s true. I have my little opposites.

Yvonne – blogging revenge. Someone should make a movie of it. :P

Lisa – I don’t know. Maybe I should send her to you? Surely you and Sasha could make her smile!

Ashley – I think I know who you’re talking about. There’s another one who is so far up my ass she probably sees what I eat even before I eat it. Unreal, I’m telling you…

Aidan – yes, you did. How are you doing? :)
