I just spent the last ten minutes referencing ingredients to find out how many calories are in these incredibly delicious pancakes:
My calorie counting, portion controlling and routinely exercising is paying off! Even with skipping the past three days because of my back hurting So.Freaking.Bad, my weight is down to 281.1! My starting weight on January 6th, 2007 was about 289.5 lbs. Eight pounds in thirteen days is not bad at all.
After I lose twenty pounds, I’m going to reward myself with a trip to Victoria’s Secret (I love, love, love their Dream Angels collection!). After another twenty, I’ll do Victoria’s Secret again. When I reach my fifty pound goal, I’m going to buy myself a new computer desk (I’m beginning to really hate the one I have; it’s too tall, too rickety, and the laminate is coming off in different places). The one hundred pound mark is so far away that I’m not even thinking about it right now. But I’ll most like go crazy shopping for clothes, as my goal weight is somewhere around 200 lbs.
Quick question for the parents: for those of you who have had a bit of trouble breaking your baby/toddler from a pacifier, did your child go through withdrawal at all? I admit that we’ve had some issues with ridding Alyssa of her pacifier. She’s loved hers since she first had it, which I reluctantly admit was not too long after she was born. By the time she was a year old I started taking her pacifier away from her in the day time, to encourage her to babble more and amuse herself in other ways. By her second birthday she was getting it only during naps and at night. But she’s been very reluctant with giving it up even then, throwing tantrums and attempting to steal Ryan’s (he’ll sometimes use one at night). Following the advice of her doctor and speech therapist (she’s a little delayed with expressing herself), we cut her off from them completely about three weeks ago. Now that she doesn’t have anything to suck, she’s been going crazy with chewing on everything in sight! Paper, books, crayons, colored pencils, puzzle pieces, shirt sleeves, etc. Anything that she can shove into her mouth and chew on is fair game.
Will this end any time soon? I’m getting tired of constantly watching her and checking her mouth, and picking up and vacuuming up chewed bits of paper, crayons and toys.
Anyway. Some quick plugs before I go…
1. Happy Birthday to Lisa!

I’ve got 3 kids. My oldest just gave his paci up out of the blue one day at 9 months old. My daughter on the other hand was a little over 3 yrs old when we finally had to take it away from her. Several pediatricians had told us that as long as she gave it up before she was 4, she’d be fine. But it didn’t delay her speech at all because she would take it out to talk lol. We finally had to take it away thought because she was biting holes in them and I was afraid she’d choke on a piece of it. We warned her if she didn’t stop biting holes in them, we’d throw them away. So when she kept on doing it, we threw them away and that was it. She threw a fit for a couple days that week, but after that, she was fine. My 19 month old still has one and I don’t see him giving it up anytime soon. But he talks a lot so it’s not hindering him in that area.
I’m so proud of you!!! Good luck the rest of the way
AJ still has his bobo (pacifier), although the only time he really wants it is when he’s sleeping or when he drinks milk (don’t ask why). Other than that, if he does have it, he normally takes it out and throws it ’cause he doesn’t want it anymore. For him (and maybe most kids) it’s soothing to them, which might explain why Alyssa is chewing on other things. It might make her feel better. I’m definately trying to rid him of it by the time he’s 3. I think it’s something that’s just going to take time with her. There’s no point giving it back if it’s been 3 weeks. Just wait it out I guess.
Those pancakes look really good… I try to keep track of my calories, I guess it’s good that I don’t cook or I’d go crazy.
I’m not sure if you looked for anything on it, but I’ve been plugin hunting for my site and saw this one. http://smallestbusiness.com/2006/03/02/front-page-filter-plugin/ You may have already seen or tried it, but it couldn’t help to share.
Oops. Couln’t hurt* to share.
Sorry.
Keep up the good work! You’ll be skinny minny in no time!
Thanks for the birthday wishes
Chelsea gets her pacifier at night when she sleeps, and when she naps at home. I can’t get her to sleep with out it. But when she naps at daycare, she does fine with out it. She usually chews on stuff too. She’ll take crystal’s teething toys, or chew on the couch and occasionally attempt to chew on my leg. I would guess that its because she is so used to having something in her mouth.
And Crystal wont even take a pacifier. I tried giving her one a while back when she pulled an unconsolable all nighter. She just doesn’t like them.
I want those pancakes. Pancakes sounds so good right now. lol. I am so hungry. *tummy growls*
If I remember correctly, we ‘weaned’ Taylor from the paci around age 1. She was only using it to sleep with, and for a few nights it was rough because she missed it, but eventually she just didn’t notice. I think it was because she wasn’t ever attached to the paci that it was easier to give up.
If she’s gone three weeks without it, definitely don’t give it back. As for the other chewing, I’d keep everything out of reach (like her crayons and such) and when you’re with her coloring and she goes to bite onto something, just tell her no and attempt to redirect her attention to something else. It’s going to be rough, no doubt about it. But I think with a lot of repetition and patience she’ll get it.
Mm. I remember when I visited America ages ago and had pancakes there and they were so much better than here in England, really thick, and more fattening, which I guess explained why they tasted so much better lol. x
Well, I just have to congradulate you on actually working on taking away the binky. I work for a daycare and these moms are still giving their 3 and 4-year-olds their binkies! I’m sorry, but enough is enough.
Also congrats on the weight loss! We have about the same weight loss goals. I’m about 20 lbs or so less than you, but soon you will have caught up with me! ^^ I wish you the most of luck.
Congrats on the weightloss Jenn, I’m sure you will reach your goal.
You ahve me craving pancakes now. Hehe.
YAY for weightloss. Rub some of that off on me. The weight loss, not the WEIGHT. ;)
And YAY for finally having somebody else to add to my Twitter account. I’ll go add you now. Now you need to add the little Twitter java app to you sidebar!
As for the binkie, my daughter stopped using hers all on her own with no fight at all… because she started sucking her thumb. > :
I dont know anything about babies too much, so I cant help you out there, but those pancakes sure look really good!!!! Drinking alot of water, I mean alot of water drop the weights off FAST! I learned that the hard way!
I think all infants and toddlers go through a phase where they want to chew on everything they see. Mine did when they were 9-12 months old. As for taking the pacifier away, we use the 3 Day Rule: it takes babies about 3 days to forget about something. When we were ready to get rid of the pacifiers (usually around the time teeth started sprouting because we’ve got bad teeth in our family and didn’t want to risk it) we’d hide every single one and the screaming and headaches (for both baby and parents) only lasted 3 days. They’d totally forget about it after that. I agree with Allison: don’t give it back no matter what and keep all small, chewable things out of her reach. I’m sure she’ll stop chewing things once she gets interested in something else.
Those pancakes look lovely, and they are making me hungry!
When my mum took my dummy away from me when I was about 2 I had a habit of putting things in my mouth, especially the corners of my books so I ruined them all. I also ‘stole’ a packet of dummys from a supermarket we were in because I wanted mine back, I apparantly took it off the rack it was on and started sucking on the corner of the packet because I couldn’t get it open!
