I am totally amused by the fact that zillow.com has my house on satellite. They were a little off on my last residence, though. They had me pinpointed in the middle of a field, next to a farm. Close, but not quite… that house was nestled in a cluster of woods next to the farm and field. :D And… you can definitely tell that the photo of our current residence was taken during the spring or early summer. Everything is just so lush and vibrant!
Guess what guess what guess what! I am so totally a bona fide housewife now… I had an honest to goodness vacuum cleaner salesman knock on my door today! He was really nice, actually, and not pushy at all. We invited him in, let him demonstrate his product by foam cleaning our pink recliner (it was in desperate need of cleaning, let me tell you!), gave him something to drink, and chatted. And… yeah. We got suckered into thinking about financing (you know it’s bad when you have to finance a vacuum cleaner). But nothing is final… yet. We haven’t quite made up our minds. It’s kind of hard to bite the bullet and purchase a vacuum cleaner that costs almost as much as my desktop computer did. Eek… The vacuum/steam cleaner is really sweet though, and did about ten times better than our current vacuum cleaner in several side by side tests. And Dan is right about one thing: it would be an investment. It comes with a sweet warranty, all sorts of accessories and cleaning supplies, etc. And it did a fantastic job on the recliner, much better than I was able to do by hand or with our steam cleaner.
So, here’s a related question for you: what was the most expensive household appliance you purchased?

The most expensive appliance I’ve ever purchased is probably a microwave. Unless we’re counting the ones that came with the house – fridge, stove, washer, dryer, dishwasher.
The most expensive appliance we bought was our fridge. It cost us $1,100, but is so worth it — self defrosting, handle-less (grooves in the side of the doors), you can switch the sides to which way you want it to open… it’s neato.
My most expensive appliance??? The $50 vacuum I just bought. LOL All the rest of my appliances came with the apartment.
haha I’m actually happy that I’m not the only one who’d consider paying that much money for a good vacuum if given the opportunity and I could make a way for it to work out financially – stuff like that is just spiffy
The most expensive househould appliance I’ve purchased though, sadly, has been a $65 vacuum haha Budgets suck. Zillow.com doesn’t have anything other than a street map of my general area LOL Yay for living in the boonies
The most expensive appliance I have bought so far would probably be the washer and dryer. They were something around 1500, but well wroth it. That vacuum sounds awesome, and you guys are right, it is an investment. My aunt bought one of those Rainbow vacuums back in the 80′s and she still uses it, and it still to this day works like a charm.
I always get scared when my house is on sattelite somewhere. Not that anyone is stalking me, but I always worry about it. I don’t think we’ve ever had a travelling salesman knock on our door. That is so cute!
Don’t do it. Just go out and buy a Dyson from Target… cheaper and works better, IMO.
ohh was it an Electrolux? I’ve been trying to talk my mom into buying another. That vacuum lasted us a good 20 years. Amazing piece of equipment
I’ve heard how great the Electroluxs are.. But I agree with Ally.. Those Dysons are teh shit. Assuming there is a huge price difference, I’d go with the Dyson.
