I got a D in my tenth grade gym class. Care to know why?
I refused to wear the disgusting bile-yellow gym uniform. The shirt was scratchy, and the pants had tapered legs and a drawstring waist. I participated in all physical activities and did my part, but because we were also graded on being dressed in uniform, my grade went down the shitter. But honestly, I didn’t give a crap (pun not intended). Despite my gym grade factoring into my total GPA, I had excellent grades in all of my academic classes, so they supported the D and still kept my GPA at a very decent level.
But I was still pissed to get “punished” with a D simply because I participated in jeans and a plain t-shirt instead of the uniform. Now imagine, if you will, how things would have been different if schools had gym uniforms that kids actually wear. No more bad grades (grades that reflect badly on the student as well as the school, and then up into the district and up even more into the state!), no more pissed off teachers, no more disgruntled students.
If more schools would look into gym uniforms that students would actually be comfortable wearing and not too embarrassed to wear, I think that things would improve all of the way around.
ciscoathletic.com aims at providing schools with the opportunity to purchase gym uniforms that are a little more pleasing to the eye and definitely more comfortable on the body.
