We’re homeowners!

keys to our house! We nodded our heads until our necks ached, read over paperwork until our eyes were strained, signed our names on line after line after line until our hands cramped, and promised our first, second and hypothetical third born in the event of us defaulting on the loan, and now the house is ours. Swoon.

Things are very surreal right now. We went to our house (our house!) afterwards to take measurements of the rooms and windows. Alyssa kicked off her shoes and took off her coat and proceeded to run around as if we had always been there. Ryan did his own part in “christening” the place – I changed his diaper and then nursed him while sitting on the living room floor while Dan played with his tape measure.
We then did some grocery shopping, came home and had a breakfast lunch (pancakes, sausage, English muffins), and then I made a few phone calls to see about having utilities transferred over and turned on.

Speaking of utilities… I’m cringing at how much it is going to cost to have propane tanks installed and filled. We’re looking at nearly $500 for that. Then we need to get a washer and dryer. Daniel’s aunt was going to give us her mother’s (Daniel’s grandmother) washer and dryer, but the washer isn’t working too well and the dryer will be going to Daniel’s mother. Daniel’s brother, Chris, thought that his girlfriend’s father had a washer and dryer that he wasn’t using, but now he’s not so sure. So, we’re looking at another $600 for a basic washer and dryer. And those are definitely a necessity, seeing as how there are four of us and both kids being in cloth diapers!
And finally, I’m cringing a bit at our mortgage payment. We went into this thinking, “Okay, nothing over $xxx.xx”. Then we realized that we may need to up that figure by another $100. Okay, we can handle that. Well, the smoke has cleared, and because of our crappy credit ratings our monthly mortgage payment is going to be $150.00 over our initial thought of, “okay, nothing over $xxx.xx”.

In theory and on paper we can do this. Our mortgage payment is about 1/3 of Daniel’s monthly income. But still… we’ll be budgeting very, very carefully. And I’m going to be doing PayPerPost and Blogitive religiously. So, I’m letting you guys know in advance… I will be blogging plenty in between, and I’ll have the sponsored posts marked as such (categorized and tagged appropriately), but… the posts will be there. We are going to need as much extra income as possible.

Anyway, we’re very, very happy and excited and relieved and nervous and just really hepped up about this. Our own house! It’s ours!!! :)

Well, reading something on mylot about how much money you will make monthly working at home made me think about it so I logged into ppp and looked at it. For exactly one month from now until April whatever, I’ll get paid around $550 from ppp. I had one blogitive in there. I’ve slacked off a ton. I’d hate to see what would happen if I get serious about it again. But if I can do that you can compare pretty good. I have two blogs, but one really doesn’t get any posts.

Sigh, and I know all too well about that crappy credit rating. Sometimes, that is what you need to make you go ok protect the credit. And you can always refinance later.

    !!!!!!!!CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!

It’s probably a great sign of relief to actually know it’s YOURS. When my mom bought her very first house, she was such a mess the day of closing but was sooo happy afterwards. It’s a wonderful thing.

I read some posts back that you like the freebie stuff, as do I. I’m a member of slickdeals.net (not trying to promote at all, sorry if it seems that way). If you have any extra time, you should check it out. It’s the most active, up to date freebie website I’ve found. I also found this survey site for new & pregnant moms there that I think you could appreciate. Just thought you’d like to check it out as I know you are looking for some ways to earn some extra cash! Congrats on sealing the deal!

Don’t go out and buy a new washer and dryer. People are throwing shit like that away all the time. Check out craigslist.com first. (http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/pa and pick whatever place is closest to you). I bought a brand new air conditioner on there that retails at $300 for $50. I know it’s still cold outside but when I tested it out it seemed to work fine. Check it out!
