A few gripes

My husband has his head up his ass on the realities of moving. He thinks that the twenty or so boxes he has brought home so far are going to be enough for everything. Um… I don’t think so! It took five boxes to pack up our bookcase, and another six to take care of movies, video games and related stuff, scrapbooking supplies and the delicate dishes in the hutch. One large box went to pack up half of my kitchen appliances (Chrissy, Lisa, I don’t need your “help” with the KitchenAid mixer ;) ).

One thing that I’m really thankful for knowing about is FreeCycle. Forget all the cool, free shit I’ve scored off of there (portable dishwasher and a lawn mower were the best, I think), but what a great way to clean house without having to drag everything away myself! I’ve gotten together a bunch of Alyssa’s clothes from last spring and summer, five different pairs of shoes (hardly worn, as they were packed up during the last move and unpacked after she grew out of them), two JJ Cole bunting bags, a Fisher Price Step & Play piano, and some other kitchen things. Plus our sofa, recliner and other chair, as Daniel’s aunt is giving us her mother’s (Daniel’s grandmother) gorgeous sofa & matching chairs, since the house they’re in is going to be cleared out and sold. It’s really convenient to just post pictures and descriptions of things, and then arrange to drop them off or have them picked up.

Thank you all for the comments about the situation with my mother. I’m not going to wash my hands of her, but I will admit that it is tempting sometimes. The situation is really aggravating, especially right now, when I have enough on my plate as it is.
