Decisions, decisions

I have this issue with curtains. I can’t seem to make up my mind on what kind of curtains I’d like for any room. It took me about six months to figure out what kind of curtains I wanted for Alyssa’s room here, at our rented place. Now that we have a new place, a place that is our own, I don’t think I want to have the same curtains up. They look kind of blah.

Alyssa’s new bedroom is painted in “fragrant lilac”. These pictures don’t do it justice (I need to take pictures tomorrow, in the daylight), but they’re close:

Now, I managed to narrow down my curtain selection to the following two…

Which do you think would look better? For what it’s worth, her toddler is is a very, very light oak, and the dresser I’m going to buy her next month will be the same color. Her storage bin is white with pastel colored buckets.

Well, my personal opinion is that they’d both look nice, but I’m more partial to the style of the first curtains you have there. I don’t know why, but they’re just… cuter. A little more stylish. But then again, I always sway away from the norm and traditional. So maybe you shouldn’t go by me. ;) I love decorating rooms! I need to find curtains for my bedroom as well. It’s about time, considering I’ve been here for three years. Good luck!

  2. I think the curtain on the right side looks much more elegant than the other one. It really is beautiful! So I would definately go with that one.

I’m afraid to put curtains up in our house (even tho we need them) cause I know my husband will bitch about the place being to “girlie”. But those are really nice. I like the ones on the right.

I think the curtain on the right is a little too elegant looking for a child’s room, so I’d probably go with the one on the left.

I really like the curtains on the left. They are timeless and won’t look dated in a few years. Very classy & simple.

I like the left curtains personally. Besides, with two little ones, it might be best to have curtains that are off of the floor.

The one on the right! The one on the right!

practicality says to me to choose the ones on the right for previously mentioned reasons (two little ones..last thing you’d want is them to get tangled into the big curtains)..but the ones on the left are SO beautiful..and plus the ones on the left look like they would leave a big open spot for people to peer in through and that’s just kind of creepy to me..hahaha..you could always get both and put up the more elegant ones when they are both a little older?

i love the ones on the left. the ones on the right, to me, look dated…almost something that i had in my room as a kid. the ones on the left are simple and pretty.

  12. I really really like the left curtains. They’re simple, but elegant looking at the same time :D!

I like the second set. They’re elegant, but I reckon they’d suit Alyssa. It’d go with a princess theme.

You don’t have to keep justifying yourself, Jenn. There will be people out there who keep harping on about you having a rented place when you don’t. So what? Let them think what they want.

I’d recommend darker curtains if you can – kids are very sensitive to light and she may get up earlier than you’d like in the summer! Alternatively, go with the light ones (in which case the left ones are my preference) but invest in a blackout blind. That’s my number one recommendation to any mother!

  15. You know, if you really wanted to get creative, you could tye-dye plain white curtains. I did, once. They pretty much go with anything, especially if you use a rainbow of colours. =)

Aww, I love them both but I think the ones on the left scream “child” more.

And for the curtains, I would take those on the right picture ;)

They’re both beautiful, I wouldn’t know which to choose! But, personally I love longer curtains.

The set on the right are more detailed. I think you should get those and I agree with Christine, tye dye would make them funky-elegant.

  21. I vote for the ones on the left. The ones on the right are a little too old-fashioned.

I adore the ones on the right, the frills are gorgeous.

I like the ones on the left. The right side is too frilly for me ~lol~
