Time to unwind

These last three days have been busy, busy, busy!

Sunday…
I went to bed way too late. I waited up for Dan, who didn’t get home until just about 3am. I went to bed with him at 3:30, but I tossed and turned until after four. I continued to wake up every hour or so, and finally gave up at 8:30 and got up. Did some last minute packing, nursed Ryan. Dan took Alyssa to my mother’s. Chris arrived at 11, and the two of them went and got the uhaul, came back, and begin to fill it with our stuff.

After making a trip to the house with the computers and TV stuff, I took Ryan and went to my mother’s. Dan called me at 3:30 to tell me they had unpacked everything, and did I want to go with them to pick up the sofa and chairs? So, I left both kids with my mom, made a quick trip to the old house to gather up a car load full of odds and ends, and then went over to the new house.

We made decent time in getting to Dan’s grandmother’s house, considering what we were driving (24′ uhaul is not exactly a fast moving vehicle). We got the sofa, two chairs, lamps, a few things to hang on the wall, and bonus! a twin sized bed for Alyssa, barely used, complete with gorgeous and immaculately conditioned head board, foot board and frame.

After stopping for a quick bite to eat, we head back to the new house. Chris needs to get home, so I take him back to our old house (where his car is), while Dan stays to unload the uhaul. I get another car load worth of odds and ends into the car, drop off McDonalds to my mom, brothers and Alyssa, and then take the car load to the new house. Unload. Back to the old house to load up again, and pop the car seats back into the car. Then over to my mom’s to get the kids and come home (home!!!).

We get the kids in bed, toss around ideas for arranging the living room furniture, decide we’re too damn tired to actually do any arranging, and we go to Dbed. It’s not quite midnight.

Monday…
Ryan has me up at 8:30. Alyssa is up by 10. We feed them breakfast, spend fifteen minutes hunting down the shower curtain and our toothbrushes, toothpaste and deodorants, I take a quick shower, and then we head out to return the uhaul. Then it’s over to the old house. Try to get the Kia started (it died in late December). The battery is dead as a doornail, as battery charger and jumper cables don’t do squat. We load it up with a car load worth of odds and ends, and make plans to pick up a car battery later that day. We load up the Hyundai with as much as possible, check on the cats, take down most of the blinds and curtains, and come home.

The rest of the day is spent rearranging the living room, hooking up the television, enjoying peace and quiet while the kids nap, and then scrounging around for something to put the dinner on and something to eat the dinner with (dinner consisted of a crockpot chicken and potatoes…thing… from Marie Calendar. SO good!)

9pm-ish. Even though it’s late, we need the car battery. We make a quick list of things we need around the house, such as new shower curtain (Kirin made windows in our old one), toilet paper holders, towel racks, caulk, bread, toothpaste, cat food, etc., and head out. We get everything we need, including the car battery, and head over to the house. I unload and pack up the contents of the fridge, freezer and under-the-sink and next-to-the-sink cabinets while Dan installs the new car battery. We fill up both cars to the gills and head home. YAY. I have my car back! I missed it.

It’s after midnight when we get home. I give Ryan some fruit, Alyssa some cereal and a banana, bathe her after she smears the banana in her hair, and get both kids in bed by 2 (YIKES). Then we crash.

Tuesday…
Dan hooked up various cables and cleaned out the shed. He also went over to the old house and checked on the cats (we didn’t want to bring them over while the new place was such an accident waiting to happen unorganized mess), and grabbed the last bit of stuff. As for me, my whole day was spent unpacking, unpacking, and unpacking. I HATE UNPACKING RARGH!

And now? Dan is home. Earlier today I unearthed our cookware, plates, bowls, glasses and utensils, so I was thrilled at the prospect of being able to make a normal dinner and serve it in a normal fashion and eat it in a normal fashion. Bonus: my mom brought the food over and cooked it. All I had to do was help serve and clean up.

Okay, it’s bed time for me. I am so tired…

Congratulations! I smiled reading this entry because it just has a general air of “omgzhouse!” to it. I’m sure all the moving was tiring but you guys have a house, that’s fantastic. I’m really happy for you! I remember when I first started reading your blog, you and Dan weren’t even living together yet and now look at you. :)

Yay, you’re in your home! How does it feel? I imagine that at this moment it’s more like *crazy* than *bliss*, but once alllll the unpacking is done and you can really relax and enjoy everything this bliss comes :)

I had to laugh at Kirin making windows in your shower curtain. When Joe and I were in our trailer we had such a pretty guest bath, until the cats decided to “redecorate”. It’s a wonder I havn’t made hats out of them yet. Soft Paws are a great invention!

I must admit I absolutely love moving from one place to another. The whole arranging of the new place is totally worth the effort – Yet I hope we some day will find THE! House.

I hope you will remember to relax a bit once in awhile! Take some time to just sit and enjoy your new home :)

Hey! I love your site. I have a question. Which wordpress theme did you base your February layout off of (the one with the chick with flowers in her hair)? I love that theme. Thanks in advance!

  11. Excellent! It must feel great! :) Look around, that belongs to you and your hubby now. No landlords to reason with, only thing you have to worry about is what to do next and if your neighbours are goofs …hopefully they are good folks.
