In regards to my last entry, I think Anna really hit the nail on the head with her comment:
I don’t think it was a way for ‘web snobs’ to be a part of something.
There are a LOT of reasons that proper XHTML is valuable. Many.
1) Cross browser compatibility. We don’t have it now. If people would start insisting on it, we could get closer to that goal.
2) Blind people rely on proper XHTML so that when they have assisted reading devises read the site to them, they are able to do so correctly. They do this by reading only the bare bones (X)HTML. If it’s a mess, it won’t make any sense.
3) People don’t understand the POWER of CSS. The thing that you notice when you see these site’s that are ‘stripped ‘is that they pretty much all look the same. Somebody new to this would think, WOW! So all that prettyness is done in the CSS, not by bloating up the code.
4) If you have a properly coded site, you shouldn’t have to touch the code at all to completely change the look. Editing a CSS file is all that you should have to do. Think: http://www.csszengarden.com/
5) Cell phone compatibility. A lot of site’s look great on a PC, but like ass on a phone. Even with Window’s Mobile. Site’s that are properly coded are MUCH easier to read and browse.
Anyway. Enough of that, I suppose. My web snobbishness is done until April 5th, 2008!
So, today is Good Friday. The kids and I went to church this evening and enjoyed the Good Friday celebration. Tomorrow is an Easter egg hunt, and Sunday is a special Easter service. This is the first time I’ve been back to church since last year, and I’m really happy to be there. I think it’s good for Alyssa, too. She needs to be “socialized” more, and there are plenty of toddlers and young kids in the daycare for her to enjoy herself with.
Except for the pastor, his wife, and a few other members, nobody realized I had a second child. Some of the responses were so funny.
Overall, we had a great time. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to get Lissy’s butt in bed so she’ll be up and ready for the Easter egg hunt tomorrow morning!

I’m a huge snob. I mean, seriously. I have no reason to be but I am. But that’s because whenever I do something even close to right, I’m like cartwheeling all day and telling everyone, lmao.
I don’t see why so many people are so dead set against CSS removal, especially since it’s only 1 day a year. It can’t possibly be that painful to strip the CSS, unless you site is only really a layout, and the content is useless. Then I guess I understand it.
^ I don’t think it’s that people were so ‘dead set against it’. It’s not that dire. It’s just not that important in the grand scheme of things.
