The launch of Sci-Edge

I blogged before about the up and coming launch of Sci-Edge, a social networking site that is geared specifically towards those interested in science, technology, gadgets, and science fiction.

Well, guess what?

The site is up and running! I’m not really into science and science fiction (those are my husband’s interests!), but I am most definitely a technology and especially a gadget enthusiast (or geek :P). So Sci Edge definitely interests me!

I just joined it today, and I can’t believe how quick the sign up process was! I entered my name and email, waited for an activation email, clicked on the activation link, and then began setting up my profile.
While setting up my profile, one thing really struck me: the privacy settings for my last name, gender, and birthday were right there next to the form fields. With other social networking sites, such as MySpace, I had to go into another area of my account to specify privacy settings. It would be all too easy for somebody to not realize it was in a separate section and unknowingly provide their full details to the general public.

My personalized Sci Edge page is packed with features – photos, basic info, favorites, and more. Look me up on Sci-Edge – kissmykitty, and if you join, add me!

I joined too. You are right about he privacy settings. Unlike myspace where I have to search and launch a search party to find the privacy settings or any other setting.
