Daniel’s mom, sisters (two) and brothers (two) came over last night for an informal get together. There was soda, iced tea, chips, cookies, cheese curls, and the makings for various kinds of sandwiches, and lots and lots of talking and laughing.
Alyssa outdid herself with her cuteness and charm. She insisted that everybody pick her “up! pwease!” so that she could touch the ceiling. She gave lots of hugs and even more sloppy, sticky toddler kisses. She brought out an entire stack of books and insisted that Kevin read her each and every one of them. She pointed out “a butt!” in one of the books (Dumbo, I think). At one point while she was deciding which Pooh book to bring over, Kevin sneaked away from where he was sitting and headed into the kitchen for salvation to get a drink. Alyssa, meanwhile, picked out her book, tossed aside the discarded one, and headed over to where Kevin was sitting. She exclaimed, “What? Where you???” and whirled around to look for him. When she spotted him, she made a beeline for him – book in hand, of course.
In short, she was in one of those super cute moods that has you saying “aww” until you want to vomit and your face is practically frozen in one of those mushy smiles. Last night was one of the rare times when I wanted more! babies! because! they’re! so! cute!!!

“What? Where you???” – that is so cute. Definitely an “aww” moment.
Moments like the one you described are my FAVORITE moments with children.. even at their worst, they still manage to be adorable.
