My mom called me a little bit ago. “Grandpop fell”, she tells me. He went to get up from the kitchen table to get something, and she happened to look away at that moment. She heard a huge bang and looked back – he was flat out on the floor, on his back. He hit his head. Hard. He couldn’t speak at first, couldn’t move. She called for an ambulance, and when they arrived they got him onto a stretcher. He knew who my mom was and who he was and where he was and that he fell, but he couldn’t remember the date, the year or the current president. He is at the hospital now, and I’m waiting to hear from my mom. Sigh.
You know, there is always some excitement in our family. Always. March 2004 – I find out I’m pregnant with Alyssa. August of 2004 – Dan and I move. October 2004 – we get married. Later that month – Alyssa is born. December 2004 – my grandmother dies. February 2005 – Dan’s dad dies. July 2005 – I total our car. August 2005 – my grandfather has a heart attack and major open heart surgery. September 2005 – my grandfather comes home, only to have a stroke and kidney failure, and is back in the hospital not a week later. Recovers, and then goes into a nursing home for six months. November 2005 – I find out I’m pregnant with Ryan. April 2006 – July 2006 – house drama. Later that month – Ryan is born via c-section. Ensue painful recovery. February 2007 – get eviction notice, deal with lawyer and house hunting drama. Later that month – Dan’s grandmother dies. March 2007 – the big move! Same month – damaged floor. May 2007 – discover molded sub flooring, begin drama with realtor, warranty people and insurance. And now my grandfather is in the hospital.
I just want peace. Quiet. Boring. Monotonous. I like all of that.
Ryan, my sweet, cuddly little baby, is on the move. For the last two months he’s been fairly content with flopping from his back to his stomach, and spinning around in circles. Now? He is scooching/dragging/wriggling across the floor. When Dan told me he moved three feet, I didn’t believe him. So I set some toys a good distance away from him and sat back to watch myself:
Gush. My little guy is getting so big. Pretty soon he’ll be walking! And, oh God, then I’ll be chasing two of them, and wishing with all my heart that I could split in two and run in two different directions at the same time.

I was going to say I hope your grandfather is ok, but then I read the most recent post. I’m glad he’s doing ok. Perhaps June will be an uneventful month for you:) That video of Ryan is adorable! My son is 4 days older than Ryan and when he decided he was going to crawl, he started out just like that(what I call the “army crawl”) and now, he’s on the move and into everything:) I’m sure Ryan will be doing the same thing in no time.
Oh my gosh, he’s like a little inchworm! SO cute! Man, it’s amazing how fast he’s growing up.
I also am glad to hear that your grandfather is doing okay. Hopefully thing will calm down, at least for the rest of the year. Joe and I have been having a year like this too. *hugs*
