I got my nose pierced in February of 2004. Until the piercing healed I wore a CBR. Then I shopped around for nose studs. At that time, nose studs that had plain, thin posts were hard to find. I could find hoops, screws and nose bones in abundance, but no thin posts with no balls on the end (nose bones). I was sick of hoops, couldn’t properly maneuver screws, and didn’t want to go through the pain and trauma of shoving a bone in and out (my mom got her nose pierced at the same time I did, but three years later it never closed tightly around thin posts because she spent the first two and a half years using bones).
Finally I found the plain, thin posts – the “straight” nose studs, or “ubend” studs. What sucked is the cost – $12 – $15 apiece at the local mall’s body jewelry kiosk. By this spring the prices came down a bit – $8 for one, $4 for the second. But still… $8 for a tiny scrap of metal? So off to eBay I went, and here I am with eighty nose studs. I paid $35 for all eighty, which included S&H. Go me. :D
Anyway, to explain the subject line of this post: When I first got my nose pierced, Dan was pissed. He got over it a few months later, but still made comments here and there. When the nose studs arrived in the mail earlier this week, he grabbed them from me and insisted on picking out which stud I would wear and when. “After all”, he said, “since you’re not going to get rid of it, I might as well have some say over what I have to look at.” Hah!

So this is weird because I was just about to ask you where you got your nose done at? See around here they don’t do this type of thing at the mall. As soon and I literally mean as soon as I get the all clear from my surgeon (one month check up and I’m all good in late June) I’m getting my nose done. I figure the pain is nothing compared to the surgery so forget about that.
The problem for me is I don’t like the look of large things I want small much like the photo you just posted. I’m in love with all of those and on my way to ebay to look at them myself. My cousin is always searching for the small ones too and in town we just can’t find many. And the other problem? My tattoo guy is on strike and refuses to be open at normal hours. I just wondered if you went to a tat shop or if your local mall does this at a certain store.
Help a clueless woman out. And Dan needs to get over that because nose is like one of the sexiest piercings ever. You know deep down he loves it!
Eighty studs for $35? That’s an awesome deal. I know to buy them around here they are usually around $14 (for the nice looking ones anyway). Gotta love Ebay!
I was seriously looking for something to get my sister for her birthday. This seems like a great idea. Thanks!
Ranee, I went to a tattoo and piercing parlor. As far as I know those are the only places that will do body piercings, which is what a nose piercing falls under the category of. I paid $45 for my piercing, which included the piercing process, aftercare products/advice and the jewelry itself.
The pain isn’t really bad – it feels like your nose is very bruised afterwards, like somebody socked you. I found the most annoying part of the piercing to be my watering, stinging eyes!
And DEFINITELY hit up eBay. I bought the studs from shameonyoubodyjewels. They ship fast, products are just as described, and the prices are great! The studs themselves are very petite (especially the small claw-style set I have – the set on the right in the picture), and the posts are very thin.
That’s a crazy amount of studs!
There’s a nice light-blue one on the second last row of the second box that i think would suit you nicely
Joe is the same way with my belly button, which I got pierced well before I met him a few months before I graduated high school. He loves it now, and likes to pick out jewelry he can “play with” when he’s bored and we’re laying in bed. Haha. Oh boys…
That’s a lot of studs. I wouldn’t get my nose pierced, personally, but it does look good.
EIGHTY nose studs?!
I’m thinking you pick out your favourite ten, then selling the rest individually on eBay to make a tidy profit.
Holy studs, batman! Such a good deal, too- I love ebay
I don’t have the guts to pierce anything on my face, but I had my tongue & bellybutton done- took them out once I started my journey to motherhood. My ears are gauged, but I would really like to get my nipples done.. after I’m done nursing babies, that is LOL!
I got my nose done 2 yrs ago and I got my belly done while I was 5 months preg with Lillian. The nose hurt, but it wasn’t that bad. Your eyes will tear up. The belly,. doesn’t hurt at all! You should try both Ranee. lol
Both of mine are gone now. and I want to get them redone when I lose some more weight.
Jenn, those nose studs are cute!
P.S Love the new smiles. :happytear
I know exactly how you feel on this one. I’m so picky when it comes to piercing jewelry, so it’s almost impossible to find something I like. I have my tongue pierced, as well as my industrial. The industrial doesn’t really need to be changed up, and for the tongue piercing I’ve just stuck with the standard metal post and balls :p Keith totally hates the tongue ring, but I told him I’m not getting rid of it

Ok so I’m in the right place then when I go the tat parlor. Someone told me that at bigger malls they do it in the stores, my husband said like hell are you getting your nose pierced in the mall. My tat guy is just being really inconvenient right now.
I know you mentioned before your mom had it done again because she used something that never healed. Should I be asking for something special when I go in or is this an after care type thing?
And I figured with the deep bruising feel of the surgery I just had that nose piercing shouldn’t really make me whine that bad. I say this, and then I’ll probably cry like a baby.

Lindsey, I’m quite too fat to get the belly piercing done just yet. However, if I ever felt that confident with my belly I’d do it. I should have done it in the past but it wasn’t a popular thing then. (ranee is old)
I had no clue they would do it while you were pregnant. Interesting. I used to want my eyebrow done until I saw one that kept growing out and leaving a nasty scar. Nasty. I’m hoping I’ll get my nose done at the end of the month. Stupid surgeon.
It’s so funny that you post this. At like 3 am I woke up this morning right as my nose stud was falling out in the dark somewhere in my bed. I use the L shaped studs, they’re all I’ve ever used… Anyhow I realized it had just fell out and GASP it was my LAST ONE! I’m not sure if it will close up or not, I’ve had it for about a year and a half now… but after going into a panic I thought man I totally need to get some more nose studs
I ended up finding it though! I’m still gonna take a look on ebay for what I can find.
Ranee – my mom insisted on using nose bones for jewelry. DO NOT USE THOSE. They are studs that have little balls on the end of the post. These little balls don’t look like much, but they *are* bigger around than the post, and stretch your hole (that sounds dirty ;) ) when you’re putting them in and taking them all.
Stick to hoops, screws (straight posts that have been bended), and plain posts – the “ubends” or “pins”.
By the way, the balls are there to supposedly keep jewelry in place. But honestly, even with using the nose “ubends”/”pins”, I have never ever had a problem with jewelry randomly falling out!
I have, however, accidentally *pulled* the jewelry out when I was scratching my nose. I’ve done this several times in my sleep. Most of the times the feeling of the pin being pulled out fast and at a random angle was enough to wake me up and hunt down the pin. If not… well, that’s why I got tired of spending $10 or more for one. ;)
