Just another 23 year old…

Hey guys! Thank you so much for the birthday wishes. :) My birthday was uneventful, but nice. Very nice. I got the true housewife dream day! I slept in, changed only two diapers (as opposed to the usual eight to twelve!), didn’t do any cleaning, didn’t have to fold and put away laundry, and best of all: I didn’t have to make any meals or feed any kids! We had dinner plans, but had to make alternative arrangements at the last minute. Instead of going out to eat, we went grocery shopping for whatever I wanted for dinner. That’s right – I spent my birthday evening scouring sales, picking out choice meats, deciding what vegetables and sides we needed, and then hauling home groceries. But Daniel made us dinner, which I picked out – jumbo butterfly shrimp and stuffed potatoes. Fattening? Yes. But delicious? Very!

Speaking of food and calories… I’m starting again with the weight loss. My goal is simple: one pound a week for the next fifty two weeks. My present to myself is a lighter, healthier, sexier, happier me. I’m using the Hackers Diet WordPress plugin to track my weight loss, and will be getting and giving plenty of encouragement and support at Goodbye Blubber. Like before, I won’t do anything special for losing weight – mainly trying to get more activity in, using my bike a few days a week, continuing to breastfeed and pump (breastfeeding mothers burn an average of 500-700 extra calories per day!), and limiting my daily calorie intake. Wish me luck! :D

Hmm. In typical stereotypical city girl fashion, I had no idea that those neat little things you blow the seeds off of were actually dandelion seed heads! Dan looked at me in horror when I said how much I loved blowing the tops off of them. This was while he was planting grass and talking excitedly about weed whackers and Round Up and throwing around other landscaping terms. Not two days later we saw that Lowes commercial where the father is lovingly gazing over his gorgeous, perfect, not-a-weed-in-sight lawn when he catches sight of his daughter getting ready to blow the fluff off of a dandelion. As she does, he lurches forward, and you hear a slow-motion “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO” as he is doing so.
I laughed my ass off at that commercial. A few days after that I read this post on livejournal’s brutal_honesty and laughed some more.

Then today I spotted this growing out of the grass along the side of a road:

Dan’s mother suggested we plant it and see what comes of it, but I’m afraid that Godzilla himself would spring up in our yard, and I don’t think our homeowners insurance covers mutant reptiles.

Anyway, Dan just finished re-wiring a vibrator (yes, a vibrator), and I’m getting tired of staring at the laptop screen, so I think I’ll wrap this up and head to bed. Goodnight!

A Homecooked Husband Meal sounds like an AWESOME present in itself. Much more meaningful than making reservations! Not that going out to dinner is a bad thing, but still, very sweet of Dan to do for you. :) Glad you had such a nice day.

And HOLY DANDELION! Do they pump Miracle Grow into the water down there or what?!

Sounds like you had a great birthday :)

It amazes me that you just turned 23 just six months ahead of my boyfriend, and you both are in SUCH different parts of your lives. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it’s a bad thing – it’s really neat to see! :)

That dinner sounds great – what are the stuffed potatoes like? Anything like twice baked potatoes? Post a recipe, I’d love to try it!

Have a great rest of the week, Jenn :)

Sound like you had a pretty nice birthday to me. Anytime a man cooks AND does it right is a miracle! I’m gonna have me some of that there jumbo shrimp tonight! Lol at that commercial, I love it! It comes on a lot on HGTV. Rewiring a vibrator, eh?

Please tell me that you blew all of the seeds off of that dandelion puff. It would be a criminal act if you didn’t.

I havn’t blown a dandelion puff (that sounds strangely naughty) in years. I used to make a wish and I thought that it would only come true if I got all the seeds off with one blow (again, slightly naughty). Ah, memories.

Glad to hear that you had a good birthday :)

I am happy to read you had a blast of a birthday – How I wish for my husband to do my diapers for a day. Just a single day of hands not near diaper awareness. I hope the dinner was as good as expected.

Good luck on the weight loss – I wish you the best.

Ah! I used to visit your old site and I’m so glad you have another one. I’m adding it to my blogroll so I’ll be back! Glad you’re doing well! :cute:

I’m just going to echo Bobbi’s comment. I’m nearly 19 now and my boyfriend just turned 23 himself and many of the blogs I read are authored by people in our age group, it’s just so strange to see how different lives can be even when they’re the same age. Usually it’s envy I’m feeling, though.

And.. I’ve never seen a dandelion puff that huge in my entire life. I don’t think I could have resisted the temptation to kick all the seeds off.
