(Or at least I try to be!)
Before buying anything of significant cost (for my cheap ass, “significant” is as little as $30!), I browse around Google, Amazon, pricegrabber.com and even eBay to check on what’s a good price vs. what’s a not-so-good price. And you wouldn’t believe the deals I have found! For instance, I found my HP digital camera for nearly $50 less than what hp.com was charging. Granted, I had to drive to Delaware to go get the camera, but it was more than worth it, since I saved on shipping and tax!
I did my research when it came to buying my laptop battery. The manufacturer website wanted over $130 for a laptop battery. Other battery carrying websites, including interstatebattery.com, had it for similar prices. eBay was where I wound up buying a laptop battery at, with one downside: I got a generic brand rather than name brand. Oh well – as they say, you can’t have your cake and eat it too!
