It’s your turn

Three and a half years ago I got my first and only (well, so far…) traffic ticket. It was stupid and easily preventable, as as most traffic tickets. 3am, deserted street. I was very tired, and distracted by Dan talking to me, and wasn’t very familiar with the area and thus had no idea that a left turn from one two-way street to another would be prohibited. I wasn’t paying attention to the road signs, and made a prohibited left turn. The cop could have easily let me off with a warning, but was in a pissy mood or looking to boost his end-of-month tickets, or both, and so I was cited. $90 for making that left turn.

As soon as the cop left, Dan through a shit fit at me, right there in the car. I was already upset from getting a ticket, and I started crying. Then Dan bitched at me for crying. (A few weeks later I found out I was pregnant with Alyssa – that would certainly explain why I was so tired and so emotional!)

This morning Dan calls me. He got pulled over for the third time since he started driving (many moons ago ;) ). Note I said third time. That’s right – he was pulled over two times before then, only was lucky to have nice cops who let him off with warnings. I got the shitty cop who gave me a ticket.
Anyway, he was pulled over for speeding – doing 54 in a 25, in an area that we both know very well, right down to the speed limits and when they increase from 25 to 45 (where doing 54 would have been acceptable). Way to go there, Einstein. So now we have a $185 ticket to pay. Joy!

    Joe does crap like that all the time. I’m lucky enough to have never gotten a ticket. I’m so cliche and can’t keep myself from crying anytime I get pulled over. I don’t do it because ‘I’m a girl and can get away with breaking the law by crying!’ I do it because I seriously can’t help it. As soon as I see the lights it’s water works.

    Ohhh silly Dan!!

    I’ve been pulled over three times – all Random Breath Tests, and all whilst I was on my learner liscence and far too young to be drinking anyway (16)

    Cop: Have you had anything to drink tonight
    Me *16, but looks like a 14 year old* *looks quizically at the cop* No o_O;
    Cop: *looks at my dad* has she?
    Dad: *looks quizically at the cop* No o_O;

    I got one ticket a few days ago, I wasn’t watching the speedometer when I was going down the hill close enough and when I reached in my purse I let off the gas a wee bit to much (32km over the speed limit, 19 miles over) I know it SOUNDS like a lot but the hill is STEEP …anyways, my ticket is 194$… the cop decided to tag me before i realized and went OOPS *puts foot on break*…and then i saw him (as i was coming down from my speeding)…he decided that I NEEDED to make my wallet lighter.

    I haven’t cried after getting pulled over but it was because both times the cop was in the wrong too.

    1. Woman cop riding my butt! I move over when I finally get past a line of slow cars and put my hands up like “what the hell is your problem?” and she pulls me over! She asked if I had something to say and I flat out told her to stop riding my ass… she ended up apologizing and I didn’t get a ticket.

    2. I followed a cop on the highway doing about 80 because he was. He pulled me over, same story. No ticket, he knew he was in the wrong too.

  5. I cry like a big baby when I get pulled over because cops make me nervous beyond belief. I’ve got a hit and run for hitting a nice car in a parking lot, a failure to yield for sideswiping while merging, 43 in a 25 at a park to get to the gorge before it got dark, and a following too closely in my recent accident but I wasn’t following so I plead not guilty and will be contesting it next month. *sigh*

    I’ve been pulled over at least seven times. Each time was for speeding. I never received a ticket though. But, everytime I’ve been pulled over it was in my town and my mom is a cop, my uncle is a cop and one of my good friends is a cop. So, I got out of seven speeding tickets.

  7. I have only been pulled over once for speeding. I challanged the ticket as it was over $100, and I got the whole thing waived, as the cop was a no show in court. Also the officer put down the wrong street. (I think to help me void the ticket, but still make his quota of tickets for the month) as I had said I was a student, working part time in a daycare and he thought that was nice. I was going WAaaaay over the limit though, so I’m happy I got it errased!

    I almost got pulled over last night coming home fromt he bar with my boyfriend and some other friends in the back seat. I ran a late yellow light, then not even two seconds after *flashing lights, and seiren* … I could’nt pull over right away, but I did a few moments after … then the cop passed me! I had never felt so relieved! As I was’nt in the mood for a breathalizer test.

    HAHA karma’s a bitch ain’t it? xD

    I don’t know how many times I’ll get tickets…but I know I’ll get a few when I start driving. :(

    I can’t believe he would bless you out over something he has done….Men….

    I have been pulled over three times (twice for speeding, once for going under a yellow light, but the cop said it was red :rolleyes:) but I have only received one speeding ticket (4 yrs ago). James, on the other hand, has been pulled over countless times, has had at least 3 tickets (only one since we’ve been together) and has lost his license for 6 months (that was long before us). His excuse: He’s always the driver, so he has a much better chance of getting a ticket….My response: Don’t break the law and you should be just fine!!!

  10. People need to realize that speeding can kill, and should stop speeding.

  11. Tickets suck. I’ve already gotten two so far this year, but one was a photo radar, so no pts on the license. Anyway, I hope Dan learned his lesson this time :P

    I got my first ticket a couple months ago, for turning down a one-way street that I was pretty familiar with, so that was no excuse :tonguer: I just started driving in January, though, so I’m still a n00b I guess you could say. Mine was $140! The cop was nice but no warning. :blank:
