Alrighty then.

36 hours and over $1500 later, we have a lot of needed purchases and services taken care of. New kitchen and bathroom faucets (they were all leaking), wire shelving units to take advantage of the vertical space in the cabinets under the sink, toilet paper roll holder for the second bathroom, queen sized air mattress for sleepover guests (such as Danielle!), new phone with second handset, more plain white onesies for Ryan, two sheet sets for Alyssa’s bedroom, more toilet paper, paper towels and baby wipes. And car stuff! I renewed our car insurance policy. The Hyundai has been inspected, and I paid $160 for a new key fob. The Kia hasn’t yet been inspected, but that is because the Walmart tire department screwed up my entire day. Grr. There’s no way it takes four mechanics and a head mechanic five hours to do four oil changes and two tire changes (one of which was mine). Spending five hours in a store I hate for five hours was not fun. But I made the best of it with a romance novel, two magazines, browsing, a bit of shopping and texting back and forth with Dan. But not only did I have to sit around in Walmart for five hours, but I also missed my front and rear alignment appointment at Pep Boys, which I was going to do after the tires were put on. So now I have to roll out at 9am to get to Pep Boys by 10. Grr.
But it’s nice to have brand new tires! My car really needed them, and the ride is so much better. Plus it’s quieter! :D

We did a little bit of splurge shopping… I picked out a new silver chain for my heart necklace. Ryan likes to play with my jewelry when he’s nursing, and he broke the very thin, delicate chain the heart came on. I also picked out safety back (push on, screw off) earrings for Alyssa, as she kept insisting on changing her other earrings just about every day, which resulted in lost earrings and sore ears. So now she’s back to the locking/screw posts. And we got the first birthday present for Ryan – a Classic Pooh lamp. We may get a few toys for him, but honestly, with all of the baby and toddler toys we have because of Alyssa, we really don’t need any more toys!

Ouch. I managed to slice my finger paper-cut style while peeling the aluminum metal off of a container of dog food for Squeaky. It didn’t hurt when I did it, but now? A day later? It stings like crazy.

You know what one pre-parenthood thing I really miss? No, not sleeping in. No, not being able to decide to go out and leave the house five minutes later. I miss being able to go to the bathroom and shower in peace! Alyssa has to be in the bathroom with me, asking me a million questions and trying to do a million things for me (“What are you doing Mommy?” “Here toi paper, Mommy” ). Ryan howls from the other side of the door. If I lock them both out, there are four hands and sometimes feet sticking under the door. When I’m in the shower, I’m lucky if Ryan is the only one in the room with me. He stands outside of the tub, hanging on to the edge and peering around the curtain. Alyssa, on the other hand, rips her clothes off and throws herself in with me. Seriously. Just about every day these past two weeks Alyssa has tumbled into the tub at my feet. I don’t mind bathing her every day, but I do mind not being able to shower alone. Oy…

Okay, I’m really tired. I was up until 6am Monday morning finishing up work, and then was back up by 12, and only grabbed an hour nap a little later. Then we were out running errands and shopping until almost midnight, and Dan and I were up until 3, putting things away, cleaning and installing the new faucets. And Tuesday? Stops at the dealership for the Hyundai, the other dealership for a spare key for the Kia, five hours at Walmart, then home to pick up Dan and the kids, then back out to go to dinner and then stop at the store for milk.

I’m pooped!

FYI: Alignment jobs (and balancing) come with putting tires on a vehicle.

  2. The Walmart tire center does balancing and mounting, but they don’t do the alignments. Hence the Pepboys appointment.

  3. LOL. Wal-mart needs to do more then just tires I say!

So you didn’t say if you had a chance to test drive that car?

My van is old. 1992. IF I had a husband who wasn’t such a loser and what not. I’m sure I’d have a newer one. :dead:

Ya know I was thinking this morning while at my bank. It’s only the 17th and I’ve spent more then $1,000 depressed I like to spend money way to much.

  4. you’ve been really busy!

hopefully you’ll have a “day off” soon. I know I feel as if I am running on empty as well.

Stuck anywhere you don’t want to be for five hours is awful @@; There aren’t a whole ton of Wal-Marts around where I live (we have Targets xD), so the place is like a shopping mall whenever I go there xD. There are too many little kids though :x

    Thats oneeee busy day :x

When my sister was younger, she’d stand outside of the door when my mom was showering and cry her sad little eyes out until my mom came out and imitated a hair dryer. Your kids remind me of that n__n (too bad my sister does more than cry her sad little eyes out now. . . this girl perfected the phrase “suck up” :B)

Walmart doesnt do a lot of things they NEED to do. I was JUST bitching about how they dont do alignments when I got my oil changed the other day. They wouldnt patch my tire either for some weird reason.

  7. I take most of my showers with Taylor… if I want one alone, it usually has to happen after Chris gets home from work, which is around 6pm, which means waiting ALL day for a shower. I’m not a fan of waiting all day just to take a shower… though I will take a second shower some nights to take care of things that I can’t when Taylor’s in there with me.

I hate having to do all that car stuff. Recently, my left rear hubcap fell off so now I need to get a new one. My car looks so ghetto, haha.

I really want to know what you’re doing to make all this $! I would love to be making a bundle of money to get ahead with car payments, pay off my credit card, etc. Lucky girl :-P

I really enjoy reading your site, btw. I find myself coming several times a day (to your other sites too) to see if you have updated.

My youngest is 2 and he thinks he has to go everywhere with me, including the bathroom. If I shut the door, he bangs on it and yells until I come out LOL…

I hear ya on that one. I don’t think I ever go to the bathroom alone anymore. LOL. And if I do, AJ is always outside the door knocking or asking me to get him something or do whatever for him. I definately miss my quiet bathroom time, even if I’m just going pee. hehe. Speaking of that… I went camping this past weekend, and everytime I went to the bathroom, AJ squeezed himself into the stall with me, sitting on some little chair that was sitting outside the bathroom. Talk about uncomfortable. Definately an “invasion”, LOL.
