Seven years ago today, I got up the courage to send Dan an email to tell him how much I liked him. Would could have been summed up in a few sentences turned into several paragraphs, but the message was clear: I like you, let’s take this further. At that point we had danced around the “I like you” issue for several weeks, with flirtations, phone calls, emails, instant messenger chats, and Dan arguing with other co-workers for the right to take me home, but without one of us ever telling the other, “I like you”. The closest we ever got to it was Dan telling me, “I really, really like you…” (and let me tell you, those ellipses were the longest ever!) “…as a friend”.
Obviously, the email reached its recipient, and was received quite warmly. That evening we drove to a secluded spot, and spent hours talking. And oh yes, kissing.
And the rest, quite obviously, is history, as we are now sitting on our sofa, sporting wedding bands and engagement rings, in the home we purchased together, with the cars we purchased together in our driveway, and with our two beautiful, happy children.

Wow this hit home with me just now. I was just thinking today that I was so happy and the feeling is just amazing. House, home, family, love. I can truly say I know what you are feeling. It’s great isn’t it?

This Saturday is mine and James’ one year and a half anniversary…Like Marisa said, it’s not as great as a full year anniversary, but we plan on celebrating anyways!
