Such is the way of things

eBay and I certainly didn’t get off on the right foot. Last week’s auctions (Nikon D40 body and Sidekick II cell phone) both hit the jackpot with losers. The winner of the Sidekick II never responded to the invoices I sent. I waited seven days, as I stated in my auction that payment would be expected in seven days, and sent two invoices. Nothing. So today I left negative feedback for that seller as well, and re-listed the cell phone, being sure to mention the car charger I have for it – I found it in my car today. It was quickly bought up, and the payment for it sent not long after.
The winner of the Nikon D40 body sent me a fake PayPal invoice. I took quick control of that situation by reporting the seller to eBay and PayPal, leaving negative feedback, and offering the camera body via second chance offer to the other bidders. Thankfully, it was snapped up within two hours, and I was paid immediately. The Nikon D40 camera body was shipped to its recipient today. Au revoir, my beautiful camera. I shall certainly miss you! At least, until I buy the Nikon D40x camera body, which will be at some point next week, or possibly the week after, depending on the cost of our

deck! I picked up the permit today, while I was out running other errands (I made my very first purchase of alcohol today – a case of Mike’s Hard Lemonade for Dan. I’m “only” 23 and buying alcohol. And it still isn’t for me. Hah!). Dan has a seven day vacation coming up, starting on September 1st. He and his brother, or possibly he and both of his brothers, are going to build our gorgeous 8′ x 14′ deck. I can’t wait!

While I was out doing stuff today I picked up my brother from school. MIDDLE school. The same middle school I went to. The same middle school I first attended when the brother that is now attending it was TWO. I haven’t been there since I graduated eighth grade, which was almost ten years ago. Wait. Ten years… a DECADE? Goodness… Stepping foot inside the school was seriously a blast from the past. Same principal, same guidance counselor. I recognized one of the lunch ladies, and my gym teacher recognized me. I wanted to take the time to check out the plaques and trophies along the walls and in fancy showcases, as Dan’s name is engraved on one of them (I am ashamed to admit I can’t remember for what!), but I didn’t have time, as I had to meet my mom at the bank and swap brother for money (I fronted her some funds over the weekend to pay for last minute school supplies for my brothers).

As I left the middle school, I started drifting back to my middle school and high school days. Some enjoyable and amusing and just plain memorable memories came into mind, including:

Ah, memories. One more thing a blog is good for: jotting down random memories that pop into your head. I want to remember as much as possible. I write down dates and even times of significant events. I’m also very attached to objects and items that have sentimental value. For instance, floating around somewhere – hopefully here, at my mother’s house or Dan’s mother’s house – is a large three ring binder filled with print outs of the hundreds of emails Dan and I exchanged during the first year or so of our relationship. Also in that binder are ticket stubs, movie stubs and other dating “memorabilia”. I feel almost sick at the thought of never getting that binder back. Note to self: ask Dan about it tonight!!!

Ryan is flopped out on the couch with me. Despite being quite busy with exploring and walking, he comes back to me all the time, for a quick hug or prolonged cuddles. He also roars. Seriously. He goes around laughing and “roaring”, then laughs even harder (sometimes even falling down with the force of his laughter!) when Dan or I do it back to him. Ryan is going to bed very soon. He was actually in bed at 8:30. I put him there when he was nodding off in his high chair (he is really wearing himself out lately – he keeps falling asleep whenever he sits in one spot – such as the high chair – for more than a few minutes!). But for whatever reason, he popped back up about forty-five minutes later. So I’ll let him stay up and play for a bit longer, and then it’s time for bed.

Alyssa is in bed, but she isn’t yet asleep. Lately her sleeping has been all over the place… midnight, 1am, 2am, even 3am and 4am. It doesn’t matter if we haul her ass out of bed by 10am or 11am and put her down for a normal nap, or let her sleep until 1pm or 2pm and not let her nap at all. She will not go to sleep! Ugh! I’m really missing my “me” time, and have been staying up until very early in the morning (think 5am and 6am) just to have some of it!

I really love reading your blogs!! When I read about school memories and things, it makes me sit here and think about my own school days, and who I used to crush on, and who the biggest dork was!! :)

I’m glad the Ebay selling went okay for you…the second time around anyways. I need to buy a new camera soon, but haven’t got a clue about SLR’s.

You should definitely take a video of Ryan’s roaring and post it on YouTube. I had to show my fiance the one of him walking…he’s just so darn cute!

I bought 100 things so far on ebay and never got screwed until right now, waiting and waiting for a cd to come in mail. The guy responded but still no cd. Glad it worked out for you. Memories are a good thing

  3. It really is amazing sometimes to think of how fast time flies by; I am only 21, but much like you I have fond memories of when I was in junior high school as that really was the last time I did anything remotely fun! It’s rather interesting to find those old year books and read through some of the messages left by classmates, stating how they better get invited to the wedding of the guy that I was dating at the time, and for so long I thought he was that guy…of course how things change :P

(I fronted her some funds over the weekend to pay for last minute school supplies for my brothers) – way to put your mom out like that.

  6. Well at least after the mishap you’ve gotten both of the items sold and the deck sounds like it’ll be a nice addition (I demand pictures damnit). School sucked while there but now we can look back and go ahhhhh those days. Weren’t you the curious george with your dirty pictures, haha. I hope you can find your binder, memories like that are definitely something to be treasured.
