God only knows why, but Alyssa just popped out a little bit ago. She went to the bathroom (50%! less! diapers! OVERJOYED!), then had some cereal. Not long after, she told me she had go to potty again. The girl pees like a race horse. I think she gets it from me. On a normal day I’m in and out of the bathroom all day long. When I was pregnant I couldn’t go more than a half an hour without having to pee. Anyway, where was I? Oh yes. Small, piss happy bladder that Alyssa inherited. So she goes and sits on her potty. I go in her bedroom with her (we put her potty in there since we are now working on nighttime potty training – she has been dry for the last four mornings!), and sit on her bed and talk to her while she’s sitting there, trying to do her thing.
“Mommy – you go potty?” she asks me. I say okay, as I can practically piss on command, and head into the bathroom that is next to her bedroom. “Mommy, you pee too!”, she happily calls after me. “Yes, sweetie”, I answer, “Mommy will pee too!”
A few seconds later Alyssa hobbles in, underwear around her ankles, dragging her potty seat with her. She sets it up in the bathroom and plops down, and looks at me expectantly. “You pee first, Mommy”, she tells me. I do, and she praises me the way we praise her when she goes, complete with kisses and a high five. She then does her thing, stands up, claps, and points at her handiwork, “Look! Yay! Cici* went potty. All done!”
Anyway. She is now tucked back into bed now, wearing underwear, with a thick blanket folded beneath her. Hopefully she won’t have an accident, but if she does, at least I’ll only have to wash the blanket, as opposed to the quilt my mother bought her last week, the sheets and the mattress pad!
*Alyssa says “Lissy” as “Cici”.
P.S. Am I lame for deciding to re-paint Alyssa’s room from lilac to a very, very pale pink? I think I am, because I’m doing so because I can’t find any girls’ bedroom decor schemes that match lilac or purple to my liking!

Seems like a success story so far. We’ve just started potty training Arthur at 1.5 yrs and it was looking good. Last night we went out for dinner though and he had a small “accident”. Probably changing his routine while potty training wasn’t the best thing to do …
Wow, Alyssa’s doing so well with her potty training!
No you aren’t lame for repainting her room. Sometimes, decorating to match an existing paint scheme can be downright impossible. The stuff that was available when you painted the room has probably disappeared by now. LOL
Wow! She is doing so well. You are not lame for wanting to change the color of her room, I think the pink would look really cute!
how cute
i love it, jenn…. awwww. i can’t wait till i have these funny, cute lil stories to tell.
Awwww, what Alyssa did was soo cute! And congrats on the potty training. I hear that it is a lot easier to train girls then boys… so enjoy this while you can :tonguer:.
Aww that is so cute!
That’s great she is doing so well with potty training!
About the paint… I’d do the same thing! lol
Taylor STILL does the whole excited thing when she pees in the potty. She goes in there on her own, and a minute later I’ll hear “YAAAAAAAAAAAY I DID IT! THAT’S GWEAT! MOMMY, COME SEE!”
So, if she’s like Taylor at all.. expect this for a LONG time. hahaha
I think it’s great that Alyssa caught on so quick. It really is about catching them at the right time, to make everything as easy as possible.
Oh, and I hear you on re-painting her room. I have all of these ideas for Taylor’s room, and it’s a matter of settling down on one before I get into my redecorating stage. I’m so ready.
Sounds like its going great. Hope she’s out of nappies completely soon :).
Meghan’s room is light pink. It looks so lovely. A proper little girls room.
Alyssa is really doing great with the potty training! I hope I am that lucky…Also, I think changed the paint to a pale pink would go good with that quilt your mom bought her.
I am so glad that potty training is going so well! I hope it continues to go well. I think a pale pink would be cute for her walls.
Wow, she really seems to be nailing this whole potty training thing down. I hope it continues to be a smooth ride from here on out.
