All I want is my driveway all to my selfish self. Is that too much to ask??? Apparently so. Tonight Dan came home to our redneck neighbor’s friend’s vehicle in our driveway. Again. This was the fourth incident. The first time, we were in the process of moving in and hadn’t yet taken down the For Sale sign, so I let it slide. The second time, I asked our next door neighbor’s teenage daughter, who was talking to Redneck Neighbor’s Friend just a few minutes prior to me noticing the car he had just parked in our driveway, to please tell him to move the vehicle. He moved it, then parked it in our driveway again a few hours later. It was that night I confronted Redneck Neighbor about his friend’s trespassing.
So tonight, when Dan called me to bitch, I told him to call a towing company. He decided instead to call the police. While waiting for them to arrive, he ran out and took pictures of the car – proving it was there, and recording the license plate. At that point Redneck Neighbor’s Friend came over and moved the car, then taunted Dan for not being “man enough” to talk to him directly about the car. Oh really? And what the hell was the confrontation between myself and Redneck Neighbor from a few weeks ago? A figment of my imagination?
So the police came, took a report, asked if we wanted to press charges this time. We said no, give them one more chance, and so they headed over to talk to Redneck neighbor. Only – get this – Redneck Neighbor and Friend wouldn’t answer the door. Who’s a pussy now? That’s what I felt like going over to tell them.
But, whatever. Next time, if there is one, we’re pressing charges. And come springtime? We’re building a fence. And I may still look into a few rabid guard dogs.
And this crap, on top of a rather hellish, stressful, ready-to-snap-from-the-stress kind of day. I’m so glad it’s over, even though in some ways, while the storm rolled through, there’s plenty of destruction (I’m so frazzled it took me three times to type that correctly) in its wake to clean up after. I’ll be blogging about that later today, but the post will be protected. I do write protected posts from time to time. If you would like to read them, register. P.S. I think Fall Out Boy sounds hot. Note that is sounds, not looks. But still, I am so ashamed.

Seriously, I can’t comprehend the gall of some people. -.- I would never dream of parking in someone else’s driveway, especially after I was asked not to.
I wouldnt have answered the door for the cops either. Not because im a pussy..but because I fucking hate cops and they are not welcome in my house.
Whenever people park in front of my house/in my driveway like that for longer than a week and isn’t a familiar car, my dad will take it upon himself to slash the wheels :B And then he’d call the towing place :3
Your neighbors suck. I hope that they were crappin’ their pants when the police came
Wow, I would just have the car towed. The nerve on some people thinking that they can do just about anything, anywhere! We have the same kind of neighbours (I live in apartment building) who think they can do just about anything and terrorize others >_<
It’s a shame common courtesy is rare amongst people now.
Some neighbors just have me baffled. I think when you live in a town, a subdivision, or a housing community you have to be more aware and respectful of other people’s property.
I have a neighbor who owns a lab/rottweiler dog that they keep in a 10′X10′ kennel outside pretty much 24-7. Never once have I seen them walk the dog or give it much attention. So since it’s penned up all day, it barks and growls at anybody and anything that passes by. Not only that, it has now learned how to break out of the kennel and wanders over to our yard to pee on our trees and growl and bark at me! Can you tell I’m pissed about this??
I can’t even park in someone elses driveway if there is a for sale sign up, and I know no one lives there. I just feel bad. Heh.
I would have pressed charges, Yeah I know you wanna be nice and give them a second chance but they are looking at you like your a punk now and that they can walk all over you. By the way they came to Dan talking that crap they will wait and do it again. This is all a safety issue you have young kids, and i’m sure you never leave them out side alone but these people could do anything to you or your kids or your property without you even knowing it. What kind of lighting do you have outside your house? If you don’t have motion lights you should install a few just to be safe.
Hopefully they’ll get the message now. But some people have no common sense, so you’ll probably find the car there again.
Oh and you have an error message on your register page, just so you know.
You think Fall Out Boy sounds hot?? haha.
Me too, don’t be ashamed.
I can’t believe your neighbors feel that they have the right to park in your drivway! Hopefully, even though the police didn’t actually speak to them, they will be frightened off.
I know the feeling of having bad neighbors. Just last Saturday night, my neighbors were throwing a loud, BOOMING party until almost four in the morning. Needless to say, I called the cops to have them break it up (I wanted to sleep!), but they never showed up. (????) These neighbors I’m talking about have a nine year old child, and are nearing their thirties. Insane people.
Anyway, before I feel the urge to bore you with more pointless rambling, I’m just going to be done. And I had no idea you had to register…? I’m going to do that right now.
Hope today is a little less hellish for you! ;)
That is just so rude, I don’t understand how people can actually do that? I would never park in someone elses driveway unless they gave me permission to. That is just common sense and respect, right?
What kind of moron does this type of thing? I mean hello he is clearly just doing it now for the confrontation level and that really does make him a redneck. I’m with you, fence, rabid dogs, and charges. See I’m such a wench that if he had made that comment to my husband I’d have simply went out and parked my car on their front lawn, and let the games begin.
Some people are just so rude and inconsiderate…I honestly can’t believe how someone could be that way. I’m glad you guys took action, though. I think that future fence is going to be quite a godsend (hopefully!)
Next time get a bunch of friends together and push the guys car out of your driveway and into the middle of the road. Because that would be funny. Or better yet, if your driveway is big enough, pull in behind him and block him in. Then when he comes over to ask you to move, be like “I dont have the keys, you’ll have to wait for them to get back.”
lol @ Ranee’s comment.
I’d do the same thing. It’s obvious that the guy WANTS an argument/domestic disturbance/confrontation with you. If he didn’t, then he wouldn’t do shit to piss you off – like park in your driveway all the time. Some people, sadly, have nothing better to do than stir up shit with their neighbors for kicks and giggles. In closing, a fence (make it barbed-wire ;) ) and rabid dogs, FTW.
You have some serious patience, Jenn. I would have pressed charges AND had the car towed. Really, do they not understand the concept of private property, tresspassing, and the like?
I suggest pitbulls. ;D
You have some patience. I am not that nice… I would have probably pressed the charges just to get my point across! Good luck w/ the rabid guard dogs… I’m seriously thinking that is just what you need.
Ugh. That’s awful that you have to keep telling them to move their car. You guys are being very nice by giving them so many chances. Something like that happens where I live, our driveway, and our neighbors that live next door to us driveway/parking space back up to each other. Well when they have a lot of people over, they think it’s okay to drive OVER our sidelawn, down the curb to our driveway then out to the street. Um no. So my dad started parking his car right where they drive through so they can’t get through. They are also rednecks. Maybe they need to move next to each other and drive and park wherever they want.
I registered a while ago before I had my new domain up. I don’t think I can read the protected entries though. I’d love to be able to
You selfish bitch, you.
I’d have done the same thing.. but I would have done it a longgg time ago. They had it coming.
Nothing to be ashamed of, dear. I think Fall Out Boy sounds pretty grand, myself.
You’re not greedy at all. It’s a shame that people think they can just help themselves.
You sure have bad luck with issues related to this manner.
In a previous blog, you mentioned how those kids walked up into your yard, and “borrowed” Alyssa’s big bouncy ball.
Not sure if it’s me, but it sounds like Mrs. Jenn lives with some greedy neighbors.
Since our community is still so new with not many people moved in yet since they are still doing a lot of building, we take full advantage of ALL the driveways in our neighborhood. Of course once one of these places that we are temporarily using becomes occupied, we would stop parking there since it would be THEIRS. Some people just do not have manners and makes you wonder how they really get on with life.
I’d have had the car towed the FIRST time. The second time I’d have called the police AND had it towed. The third time I’d jack the sucker up and take all four wheels off. TeeHee.
Oh, I like this layout! It’s pretty! I bookmarked you!
I just hope they finally got the message, with the cops coming and knocking on their door and everything. They may not have known you called them though…they may have thought they were getting busted for something else (guilty conscience anyone?)… That would have been hilarious if you had inadvertently helped with that!
I registered, btw!
I think calling the cops could have “fueled their fire” … hopefully it does not escalate into something more. I think Dan should have also spoken to them. One warning from you, and the other from him. ahh well, best of luck. I would start pricing fences now.
Shoulda slashed their tires!
I would have been so mad if my neighbor did that.
Shesh, and people wonder why I’m not looking forward to the prospect of them building houses around us. I don’t like neighbors and after reading this entry I have another reason not to like ‘em. I mean really, I could understand parking in the neighbor’s driveway if someone was having a party or gathering and there were just that many cars parked all over the street. Hey it’s not their fault and it was a one time thing. But after being asked and told not to do it and then doing it deliberately again and again. That just shows a lack of breeding and manners.
