Why sluggish? The weather and my mood. Also, this time of my night is my sleepy time. I can’t wait to get my second wind. Until then, I’ll be yawning non-stop and doing my best not to fall asleep somewhere.
Dan and I had big “plans” for tonight. My brothers would be in bed around 7:30pm. Ryan would go to bed at 9:00pm, and Alyssa would be in bed at 9:30. Then, for the rest of the night, we would have each other. No kids, no relatives, no work, no interruptions of any kind. We were looking forward to it. After all, it has been over a week since we’ve really had any time for each other. And it has been well over a week since we’ve done anything more than kiss.
So, our plans were executing nicely. I did the housewife thing and went grocery shopping this afternoon, after picking up one brother from the bus stop and the other from his school. We came home, and I started dinner while Alyssa played, Ryan finished up a late nap and my brothers did their homework. We ate by 6:30, and my brothers were in bed at 7:30. Alyssa and Ryan are winding down with picture books and Tom & Jerry, and I’m finishing up some work and Dan is finishing up his stuff.
Everything is working out perfectly, right? Right… well, as usual, there is a snag. I got my period. Boo. Not only does this ruin some of our plans for this evening (note that I only wrote some. We’re not very squeamish, and refuse to write off sex entirely over a little blood), but it makes me feel like chasing down ten ibuprofen with a vodka spiked with Nyquil, and then sleeping until tomorrow morning, being blissfully unaware of the rather unpleasant sensation of my uterus trying to twist itself into knots and then chew through my ovaries, burrow through my cervix and out of my vagina.
At the moment, I am surprisingly experiencing no discomfort. Of course, I’m sure the agony will rear its ugly head when Dan and I retire for the night. Isn’t that how it always works?

Well think of it this way, orgasm is one of the most effective ways to get rid of cramps and speed the period along! And Yay for not being squeamish!
Have you ever considered a menstrual cup or alternative menstrual device? They tend to be beneficial for those with heavier periods. I use Insteads, check them out at http://www.softcup.com. Some people have varying success with Diva and/or Moon Cups, which are resuable, while Insteads are disposable.
Hurray for not being squeamish! I haven’t had to deal with my period for quite some time, but i bet if I was on it, we wouldn’t be squeamish either. =D
I hate getting my period but at least my birth control makes me not get cramps anymore usually.
Thank you for that lovely mental picture of a uterus shooting out of a crotch!
I am due to start mine in the next couple of days, which is bad, since I am already stressed about the wedding. No need to add that into the equation. *Could possibly turn into BrideZilla before Saturday* At least it won’t ruin the honeymoon!
