Not always a slacker

I stopped by the store this morning to order Alyssa’s birthday cake. Believe me, three days ahead of time for ordering a cake? I’m WELL ahead of the game. Ryan’s cake was ordered the day before, and the cake for Alyssa’s first birthday was ordered the morning of her birthday! Anyway, since her birthday theme is Shimmering Butterfly, I gave the bakery one of the themed plates and invitations to get inspiration and ideas from. I’m sure they’ll come up with something nice. And if nothing else, the cake will be damn tasty!

Alyssa is going crazy from excitement over the fact that HA-WEEN! and CICI’S BIRT-DAY! are both close together. Every day she talks about the cake she’ll be having for her birthday, and the food and the people and the balloons. Especially the balloons. On the heels of that is her excitement over Halloween. Every single day she informs me that she’s going to be a princess and Ryan is going to be a dinosaur (actually, it’s a dragonsaurus costume). As if I have suddenly developed amnesia and need daily reminders of what Halloween costumes I bought last week.
If it were possible for a kid to literally explode from excitement, I wouldn’t be sitting here blogging because I would be too busy vacuuming up Lissy dust from the house.

I’m ovulating. This isn’t something I normally pay attention to, except that following the birth of Ryan I suddenly became very attuned to the monthly changes going on with the girly parts. After several hours of feeling crampy, a switch is flipped and I am suddenly voraciously lusting after and ready to throw myself at and on, oh, let’s say anyone of the male species that falls in the age range of 23-40. Considering that both Alyssa and Ryan are up now and aren’t likely to take naps at the same time, and I have a very sexy and readily available male sitting just a few feet away from me, I’m sure you can imagine my frustration at this moment!

Well, I’m off to try and distract myself from my demanding uterus with cleaning bathrooms and doing laundry, or something.

P.S. Between birthday, holidays and various appointments for the cats, the kids, my brothers and myself, I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I will probably not get a full night of sleep until January, at least.

P.P.S. Blueboy is quarantined and, while a bit perturbed, seems to be doing okay. A few more days and his quarantine will be up. It looks like I may have reacted for nothing, but better to be safe than sorry!

Wow, you have themed birthday parties? I didn’t know people did that. Isn’t that tiring? Must be fun for Alyssa, though! I hope she will have a good birthday party. Good luck with the cleaning etc. I bet it’s frustrating, though!

I haven’t attended a themed birthday party since I was probably around Alyssa’s age! I bet it’ll be fun. Butterflies are a neat theme to work with, is she going to get a set of wings to ‘fly’ around the house with for her birthday? Have fun cleaning…? I avoid cleaning as much as possible, which is kind of a bad thing because then I don’t get things done.

Those costumes are really cute, I wish that Halloween was big in the UK like it is in America because it looks really fun.

You’re going to be drinking loads of caffiene till January then in order to survive! :P

  4. I’m still trying to avoid themed parties for now. I know I’ll get my fill when Taylor’s older, so I’m trying to keep it simple as long as I can. I’ll probably still do a homemade cake, too, for the same reason – I don’t know how much longer she’ll allow it! haha

Though, I guess I should start planning the cake since Taylor’s birthday is only a couple of week away.

I’m glad your kitty is doing better. :)

My son’s birthday is coming up in a week and a half and all he can talk about is his cake and what he wants and hallow’s eve, etc. I feel your pain. :) Except I’m making his cake. He doesn’t want anyone else to. -.- He somehow thinks I’m magic and snap my fingers for a huge extravagant cake. Boy will he be surprised. lol

  6. The kids costumes are adorable & yay for Alyssa being so excited! I hope the birthday party goes off without a hitch. :)
