My car is running. I went and put two and a half gallons of gas in the tank tonight, and lo and behold, it started right up. Either the fuel pump may be failing and not having the right pressure required to grab gas from a nearly empty gas tank, or I simply ran out of gas. Somehow, I feel it’s the latter. In which case, I am a douche bag. WAY TO GO JENN. And WAY TO GO DAN, for arguing with me six ways from Sunday that it wouldn’t “just” be something so simple and stupid as running out of gas, and as if to prove his point somehow refused to take extra gas with him when he went to check on the car and try to get it started. Oh well. Better to be a douche than to be shelling out the big bucks for car towing fees and repairs, right?
Heads up to those who follow Daylight Saving (there really isn’t an S on Saving – did you know that?) Time: it’s next Sunday, the 4th of November (November?! Where has this year gone?!), and not this Sunday. Apparently Comcast missed that memo. However, they not only screwed up and did DST at 10pm, but they also moved the time forward. Since when does one fall forward? Unless you’re clumsy, like me, and if that’s the case you’ll also have another awesome talent to demonstrate: falling up (up steps, inclines, etc.).
I have really fallen off the bandwagon with returning emails promptly, participating on message boards (including Lavish), reading blogs and commenting on blogs.
I promise, I have a good reason. My brothers have been living with me for almost four weeks. They are in two different schools and also have various appointments and therapists coming and going. Add in the normal routines of taking care of meals, laundry, errands, activities, etc., with a sum total of four kids, and I find myself barely having time for a full night of rest, let alone much free time. The free time I have during the day is spent working (writing), doing laundry and catching what few precious hours of sleep that I can. We’re going broke and are stretched to the limit with the sudden addition of two boys that have men-sized appetites, and the extra gas I am using for school and appointments and such. What I wouldn’t give for $1000, even $500, to fall into my lap at this very moment. We have put off a few important bills in order to live from day to day with enough food and gas, and I am very, very stressed.
Anyway, 6:30am will be here before I know it, and I wanted to get another game or two of Sudoku in before I go to sleep, so goodnight!

The time thing is weird. My cell phone and alarm say it is 1:49 am but the computer time says it is 12:49 am. I think the cell and alarm are the correct times.
Good luck with finding money and everything.
And I’ve fallen up the stairs a few times. It’s not hard. :-)
My cell phone says it is 12:52am but my computer and everything else says 1:52am. 1:52am is correct. I checked my computer and it says that the time changes on Nov. 4th. I guess my cell phone didn’t get the memo about that, lol.
How come your brothers live with you? If I may ask
The clocks went back for us yesterday but we didn’t know and Alex got to work an hour early!
The time change used to be earlier in the year, right? I was figuring that’s why Joe’s computer keeps setting itself an hour back.
Good to hear that your car was an easy fix! Joe and I are scrambling because one of our cars is acting like the transmission is going out (for the second time in the year we’ve had the car) and the brakes on our other car are all kinds of squealy, not to mention some other, albeit happier, things that have come up. I hate cars almost as much as I hate computers
Hopefully the situation with your brothers will be straightened out soon. I can’t imagine how stressful that must be *hugs*
I know what you mean about being strapped. I hate that feeling! I hope that everything sorts itself out for you!
I don’t envy your situation. My husband keeps saying as soon as we have more kids that is when something goes wrong and then we’re broke. I guess it’s true, but who can really plan for that? Plus 4 kids, oy!
If I start griping about daylight saving(s) time then I’ll be here all day so I’m just keeping it zipped. We took part in our first one last year here in Indiana. SUCKS
Ah, I love British Daylight Saving in autumn..an extra hour in my bed rolled up in my duvet! Bliss.
I’m glad to hear that car is running and could’ve been just a simple mistake!
I don’t know how you’re handling 4 kids… especially when 2 of them are not your own! Hopefully your situation will get better soon!
Falling forward…. I tend to do that too. I mean, there’s only so many times that you fall backwards (ie. when you have a very heavy bag on, falling into someone’s lap…)
But it’s great that there wasn’t else wrong with your car rather than running out of gas.
I’m glad to hear the car works again.
And wow, since when do you move the time forward during autumn? Odd. Strange mistake they made. And the 4th of NOVEMBER? Wow.
Wow, four kids. Must be tiring, and expensive. Don’t you get financial support from your family?
Good luck with everything!
