I’m naked

Not really. But I certainly feel naked. I went this afternoon for my fitting and training for my contacts. It took a half an hour, several tissues to mop up my stupid watering eyes, and a few clumsy attempts that resulted in my contacts being folded over, flipped inside out, and dropped on the floor, but I can put my contacts in and take them out with minimal fumbling.

I have worn glasses constantly – except for bed – for the past fifteen or so years. To suddenly not be wearing glasses is just… very weird. I keep reaching up to adjust the glasses I’m not wearing, or to tuck stray hairs behind ear pieces that are not there.

The contacts feel okay. Once my eyes stopped tearing and I wasn’t blinking so frequently, I barely noticed them.

I’d take a picture of the new non-glasses me, except that my hair is limp, I have no makeup on, and worst of all, I have bags and dark circles under my eyes. I look like I’m 23 going on 49.

Well, it’s 12:15am, and since my brother isn’t taking the bus in the morning, I get to drive him in, which means sleeping in a bit longer. The idea of SEVEN STRAIGHT HOURS OF SLEEP is enough to make me orgasm. Or in this case, hightail my ass off to bed, NOW.

Ha Ha!! Yeah it does feel like that the first time. However, I–100% due to laziness–went back to my glasses. I’m up all night, so when I’m sleepy, I’m sleepy, and I don’t feel like going the the drama of getting up from bed(half sleep oh, yeah I love that, NOT!  ) to wash my hands and remove the darn things. When I could just wear glasses and take them off when I’m sleepy and lie them right next to me. No getting up and no, dis-rup-TIIOOoon. With my 48 hour days I’m surprised my under lids aren’t dangling, hanging on by a thread to my face muscles.

  2. Good luck with contacts. I’ve never worn them because my eyesight is still good. They seem tricky though.

My optometrist won’t let me get contacts. Something about making my eyes worse. But it would really help me out at night when I can’t see at all without my glasses. :D Good luck with yours! I don’t have any problems touching my eye, though, so I think it would be pretty easy for me. lol.

  4. Welcome to the world of Contacts and easy seeing … next compulsive step – laser eye surgery! I do not qualify, as my prescription is beyond the limit that they can do successfully.

Can you sleep with your contacts in? It took me a while to get a good brand of contacts that agreed with my eyes the first time I got them. I now use Acuvue Oaysis and I wear them for up two 2 weeks at one time, I can get away with a whole months wear but I hardly do that.

Wearing contacts is just like accessorizing yourself before you go out. Do you wear your glasses, or should you put on your contacts? …. What looks best with what outfit/hairstyle, so man choices so little time.

Contacts and glasses do the same things to the eyes, so if contacts make eyes worse, then so do glasses.
Get a new optometrist, that guy sounds like a quack.

Also, there are monthly wear lenses that you don’t take out at night for a whole month. That’s what I have and love. Once a month I change them.
    Piece of cake!

They say you’re not supposed to sleep with them on, but they have some that they say you can sleep in, they’ve also said other drugs were safe and five years later it’s linked to other stuff. Contacts are made from plastic, like hard plastic, plastic that you wouldn’t want near your eye because it would most likely POKE it out. So, I’m kind of scared of leaving them in overnight. I always picture them drying and me waking up barely able to get them out. Once I thought I didn’t take them out and in the morning I’m up panicing and I scratched my eyeball up a little. OUCH!(very painful) Don’t ask me how I didn’t know they weren’t on my eyeballs because I didn’t know. They clearly became too natural.

If you are 23 going on 49 I’m 31 going on 67! It’s so good to be old! Get yourself together and take a pic, I’m curious as to what non glasses Jenn looks like!

  8. Yeah, I wanna seee! My hubby had a very hard time adjusting to wearing contacts. If his rolled up in his eye or anything, he would completey FREAK out. He still does! Hah and I have to say It was quite amusing in the beginning when he would go to adjust the glasses on his face and they wouldn’t be there LOL. Have a great weekend hun!

  9. lmao. I’ve had the same problem here with my new contacts. I would reach up for the glasses and nothing was there. I’ve had contacts before. 8 yrs ago. I didn’t like them then. Not sure I will keep them now either, Just haven’t made up my mind yet. But today I’m either buying more contacts or Glasses. One contact last 1 month and the other is 2 weeks. and I hate that. I’m not sure I’ll have the money every month for contacts. I think she told me 150 something.
Anyhow, Congrats and I hope you enjoy not having the rain on your glasses and having to worry about your kids getting a hold of them.

BTW: Did you get colored ones? If not, Are you going to sleep in your contacts? Because I can sleep in mine. But the colored ones you can’t.

That’s definitely a big change and I can understand that you need to get used to them! My sister-in-law has glasses but mostly wears contacts and she looks like a completely different person when she wears glasses, lol. I’m looking forward to seeing a picture of it! :D

Ahh, that’s awesome! I’ve been wearing glasses for the last 8 years so far and my parents are reluctant to allow me to wear contacts because they think I’ll end up burning out my retinas somehow…

I have tried coloured contacts before though, for Halloween one year.. It’s was really strange to see myself with bright blue eyes.
