I decided to take Rissie’s advice and see about switching my contacts to see if my vision would improve. Well, after I took out the right contact, I looked at the outer rim of it – R. I took out the left contact and looked at the outer rim of it – R. Considering that there are no other markings on either contact except for those two R’s, I am assuming that they are marked right and (in this case) right? In which case, the eye place screwed up and gave me two right contacts, rather than a right and a left. That would definitely explain my vision issues.
The contacts I have are B&L’s PureVision. Does anyone use them and know if they come with R and L markings?
(I’m calling my eye doctor as soon as they open in the morning!)

I do not have any “R” or any other indication for left or right eye. Do you have two different prescriptions for each eye?
When one of my eye had a astigmatism I had a different type of of contact for that eye. I just had to make sure I was putting into my right eye. Not mixing up my contact case, as well as putting in my right contact lenses first when getting a new contact for my eye.
If it is something that is really bothering you, contact your eye doctor. It could just be a light sensitivity as you are no longer wearing glasses and our side natural light is bothering your eyes… it just takes a while to get use to. Even a few days, just do not wear your contact at first for long periods of time (half days best to start – at least that is what I did in the beginning)
… they put the letters on your contacts… o.O
Mine say CIBA on them, it’s pretty hard to see but I found it.
what brand are you using? my mom had the same trouble with one of the brands she used.. they swithced her and she hasn’t had any problems since… hope you get your eye balls sorted out!
Yeah I’m not sure I know about this putting letters on the contacts. Now when we dispensed them we would look at the prescription and put an R on the right eye and L on the left if they were different prescriptions. ONLY ON THE BOX THOUGH.
That R may also be an indicator of down for how you are supposed to put them due to the weights, if they have weights. I may be sad, but I can’t wait to see what the doctor says! Bored housewife!
Mine used to say 123 to show which was the right side out. If it was inside out, it would be 321
^^ My old contacts were the same as above. The would say 123 if they were the right side out, and 321 if I was putting them in wrong. I switched to AccuView Oasis… um I want to say in June, So I no longer have that litle indication but I’ve never needed it with these because for som reason they’ve always gone in the right way.
I think me having contacts actually fixed my astigmatism, haha. When I first got contacts when I was 15 (oh my god so long ago haha) I had an astigmatism. When I went back to the doctor before I started college, it had magically disappeared! ahaha.
My friend had weighted contacts, you could see the weights on them if you looked right, and it didn’t matter how she put them in, they’d automatically roll to the correct position.
Her contacts also had a tiny R & L on them, because she had two different prescriptions. But she wears glasses again now – couldn’t keep the right one in her eye! LOL
Yeah my husband said the weights automatically go the right way and it doesn’t matter when he started to wear his. I would have liked to give the office the benefit of the doubt is why I wondered that, but apparently they gave you two R contacts. I can imagine major headaches!
My contacts are colored in blue and green :3 The left eye is blue tinted, and the right eye is in green :D
I doubt that’s it, unfortunately. Since they sell the same box of contacts with that prescription to people who need it for either eye. At least I’ve never heard of a right/left-specific contact.
Wow, you look fab with your new contacts! It’s funny how much different person looks without glasses when you’re used to see her/him with those!
I hope you get that contacts issue sorted out.
