We have no hot water. Don’t ask me why we have no hot water, because to be honest with you, I do not know. I’m the stereotypical chick that, when something doesn’t work or breaks and I don’t know much about it, I point my husband in the general direction of the non-working or broken item and tell him to fix it.
I did that tonight, except the husband didn’t cooperate. Pfft. What do you do when the non-working/broken item fixer is broken himself?
Poor Ryan. I realized we had no hot water when I decided to give him a bath. I drew a bath for him, and he was standing next to me as I was reaching into the tub to turn off the water and grab a few of his toys for him to play with. When I had first turned on the water and adjusted the knobs, the temperature seemed fine. Silly me to assume it still was. As I was grabbing Ryan’s toys, that quick he leaned over the bath tub and flopped right on (note to parents of babies and toddlers: watch out for their anchor-like heads!). He let out a high pitch gasped and scrambled to his feet as quickly as possible. I felt the water- COOL! So, I scooped Ryan out of the tub, wrapped him in a towel and yelled for Dan to find out what was wrong. Meanwhile, I heated water in the microwave and boiled some more water on the stove. It took two times each to get enough hot water to warm up the tub. Ryan was much happier then!
Anyway, it is now 1am. After weeks of just being tired and wanting to sleep, I’m now overtired and can’t sleep. My first clue should have been last night, when I tossed and turned for about forty-five minutes, before being kept awake for the rest of the night by another issue. So yeah. 1am, and I’m wide awake. I have to be up at 6:30am, and will be up for the day, as Dan and I have some stuff to do in the morning. Blech. Maybe I can sneak in a nap before he leaves for work!
Still no hot water. I’d love to, oh, I don’t know… take a shower in the morning? Scrub my crock pot? Wash my hands in warm, soothing water? Grr!
Psst… I’m doing the first DITL since God knows when.

Ain’t it funny how things that we seem to take for granted are suddenly taken away and it feels like a slap on the wrist? Whether it’s as silly thing as hot water, or a car! If your car is being repaired, all of a sudden you’d need it the most. Funny
I hope you get hot water back soon!
For the insomnia, I suggest Bath and Body Works’ Pillow Mist: Lavendar Chamomile (spray both sides of your pillow) and their Scent Port plugins (Lavendar Chamomile) to help you out. I started using both products a month ago and they really help me to drift off to sleep.
I hope that your hot water issues get fixed soon. Could it be the water heater on the blink? We had issues with ours and since we’re still under our 1 yr warranty for a new house, we had it repaired at no charge. Oh, I keep having dreams about us living near each other and such… one last night actually.
We had problems last year with our hot water and it turns out our pipes were frozen! Believe me, it wasn’t fun to take down part of a wall and get the pipes fixed. That probably isn’t the issue for you though because it hasn’t gotten that cold yet., so it’s probably just the hot water heater.
I hope you get the hot water back soon!
When Eric and I were living in that place in NJ, for the first week we didn’t have a rod to hang the shower curtain on. Also, our showers had to be a minute or less because the luke-warm shower would turn ice cold!
I’ve never had a problem like that before. I hope it is fixed soon so you don’t have to go through the hassle of warming/boiling water and such.
Poor Ryan…It would really suck to be out of hot water. James probably wouldn’t mind, since he takes, in my opinion, cold showers anyways…Hopefully you can get it fixed soon!
I hate when there’s no hot water.
Especially when I want to take a bath, it is so cold that I sometimes have to go over to my friend’s house (next door) just to take a shower, lol. xD
I hope you get your hot water back!!
That totally sucks. I thought it was bad that my shower didnt heat up as much as the one in the downstairs bathroom does. I love super hot showers.
That sucks about the water. And, i read it as “crotch” pot not, crock. Silly me ;)
