A rather picture happy post

I do one of two things on Sundays: sleep like crazy or clean until I’m ready to fall over. Since I did the clean until I’m ready to fall over gig yesterday, I slept like crazy today. It was wonderful. And then, after joining the world of the living, I decided to play around with a set of hot sticks that I picked up yesterday, after admiring Anna’s hair.

Seven large hot sticks, put in half ass because I’m an idiot, and Dan wasn’t much help, either, resulted in this for me:

After brushing and having fun with bright pink cosmetics…

I think I like the hot sticks. I wasn’t aiming for ringlets or sausage curls. I wanted waves, but more than anything, body! And I got it! ♥

Alyssa decided she wanted to try the hot sticks too. Immediately after removing them she looked like she had been electrocuted, oh, seventy-five times or so:

But after a good brushing and a quick jaunt out with Dan to the grocery store, which meant being rained on, her hair settled down:

I didn’t too much else today… besides making dinner, adding tags to my Vimeo videos, playing with Alyssa and Ryan, folding a bit of laundry and putting it away, and goofing around with Dan:

I’m sitting here laughing uncontrollably at that photo of Alyssa. It reminds me of me using hot sticks on myself, electrocution about 75 times was the outcome. However, Sydney’s hair is losing the wave and I think these would work perfect for picture time coming up. Thanks for the idea!
There must be something in the air because I need a change with hair and make up. I’m bored with myself.

  2. LMFAO @ the picture of Alyssa. That is hilarious, but definitely cute. I really like that makeup on you.

My hair is naturally wavy like yours in the picture but it has no volume at all.. well, my hair is thick as fuck but still, hardly volume. I use to use this curling mousse from garnier fructis.. but I think they remade it into a spritz spray (can’t find the mousse), which I have and works great.. I just take a shower or spray my hair down with a water bottle, brush it out, then spray the curler in which just defines natural curls.. by the time I’m done (you gotta scrunch your hair on and off till it dries) it looks like I used a curling iron, but I didn’t.. and it stays all day like that.

Sometimes when I just want volume and waves, I’ll let the curling spray dry and then lightly brush it out. Works excellent. I’ll never use an iron again!

Oh yeah and that stuff completely controls the frizz, too!

Ahh…A nice lazy Sunday…I had one of those today myself. It’s nice to have one day a week where you do pretty much nothing!

You hair looks really good in those pics. My hair used to be so thick and full of volume, but it’s starting to getting thinner, and is so flat now…Maybe I should give hot sticks a try. I love Alyssa’s hair too!! :)

  6. See, my hair is naturally straight. And thick. And coarse. What’s the chances of that stuff working for me? I LOVE having body and a bit of wave… I’ll use the hot sticks every single day if I have to, but obviously I would prefer something not so time consuming!

    *Whistles* Helllllllo sexy!
I got my hair cut a few days ago and go really long layers, but did not get any length cut off.. resulting in my hair feeling very ‘light’ .. and it is! If I let my hair dry naturally after showering, it gets CRAZY waves in it. I’d love to eventually experiment and get some new styles going for myself, though.. time for a change!
For now I wanted something easier to maintain with the baby ALMOST HERE! Alyssa looks hilarious.. and you and Dan are too cute. Makes me miss Jeremiah. :P

  8. Alyssa looks absolutely hilarious there.
I’ve never heard of these hot sticks

I honestly don’t know if it will work for you like it does for me.. I would definitely try it out though! I’d get the spray gel because it’s easier to put in but if they don’t have that, get the mousse.. just make sure your hair is a little damp, brush it out, then lightly spray the stuff on.. I spray the top of my hair first, and then I lift up chunks to get in between and underneath. Right after that I immediately start to “scrunch” my hair and continue to scrunch it on and off until it’s about dry.

Come to think of it.. Garnier also has volume boosting mousse.. I haven’t used it but if it works like the curl constructing stuff, I’d imagine it would be good – and fast, all moms need fast fixes!

  10. It looks very good Jenn, I like it! Alyssa’s picture is absolutely hilarious, make sure you save that one for her to look back on. lol

lol @ Alyssa, she looks so funny (but still cute)! I also have never heard of these hot sticks, but they sound amazing. Styling my hair can be such a pain in the ass, since my hair is thick and wavy…but not the cute kind of wavy. The kind of wavy that looks unkempt and out of control. Yeah…it’s not cool.

    BTW, I tagged you! :P
