Showering, shaving, doing my hair and makeup in a flushed/seductive/just rolled out of bed style and greeting Dan at the door in nothing but lingerie and a smile definitely had its intended effect…
But dear god am I tired!!! It wouldn’t have been so bed if I had gone to sleep at 4:30am and had been able to sleep through the morning (if I had it my way, I’d be sleeping right now instead of blogging!). But nooooooooo… Dan couldn’t keep his damn plans straight. Note to husband: when you KNOW for a YEAR that you will be making a 350 mile (each way, mind you!) trip, you should PLAN AHEAD. But no. That didn’t happen. The phone started ringing at 5:30am, and didn’t stop until several phone calls from Dan’s uncle and Dan’s father’s friend came in off and on until 7:30am. Then I was woken again, this time by Dan. He was going to drive up to meet his family on his own, but decided last minute to catch a ride with his uncle. So, guess who had to get up and drive him to the central location chosen – a gas station – to meet up at! I made him get Alyssa and Ryan up and into the car before I dragged myself out of bed, stumbled into some clothing, fumbled with contacts that do not like adhering to dry, tired eyes, and dripped out to the car.
Alyssa, Ryan and I said goodbye to Dan around 9:00am. I’m such a big whiny loser, but I miss him. Already. I had to leave the gas station rather quickly, because I wasn’t sure if I could keep it together, and had no desire to look like a blubbering idiot in front of Dan and his uncle and whoever the other guy was that was with them. And more importantly, I didn’t want to upset Alyssa, who was already tearing up when Dan kissed and hugged her goodbye.
Dan won’t be back until Thursday… five days of nothing and no one to do, aside from the usual kids and housework and my own work. I need to come up with an online project to occupy myself and my time with!
So. Here we are, kick starting our Saturday, tired and bleary-eyed. If not for this morning the kids would probably be waking up in the next half hour or so. I picked up breakfast at McDonalds on the way home, so we’ve eaten. They’re watching cartoons and I’m catching up on email. We’ll probably go take a nap in the next hour or so, and then once we’re up and have had lunch, I’m going to get the kids packed up and take them over to KidzEscape. Alyssa has been itching to go to the playground, but it’s a little chilly today, and I’d rather not worry about bundling up the kids and myself!

aww, i hate it when my hunny goes out of town and i think i hate the trip to the airport even more! hang in there – im sure the kids will keep you busy!
have a good day!
I’m sorry You’ll be without your hubby until Thursday. I’m sure it will go by fast. You have kids and they always keep you busy, I’m sure.
Aw, you’re not a loser. I miss Josh when he’s only at work from 8-5. I hope that the next couple of days go quickly for you. Have fun at KidzEscape! That sounds like a pretty cool place.
