I feel fuzzy, oh so fuzzy

After taking a three hour nap, I got Alyssa and Ryan dressed, stuffed into their coats, grabbed a fully stocked diaper bag and herded them into the car. Following really craptacular Mapquest directions, we got to the indoor playground center after one wrong turn and several “Am I going the right way!?” moments. Of course, when we were almost there we crossed over a major road that, had I known came up that way, I would have taken instead. I do enough winding around back roads to get from our house to my mom’s house and the grocery store. I don’t need to do it when we’re going somewhere else!

Anyway, the kids had SO MUCH FUN. I can’t believe I didn’t know of the existence of places like these sooner! I had to pay $6 for each kid, but I would have spent that or more on tokens and other crap at the hell hole otherwise known as Chuck E. Cheese (just ask Anna about that!). And it was too cold and getting too dark for a regular, outdoor play ground… so yeah, the $6 was worth it. Especially since the inside of the building is loaded with all sorts of play sets, tons of mats and landing cushions, and large, comfortable benches and rockers for the parents. Also, the front door exit was under constant watch by the woman at the desk, and the door itself had huge bells on it, so it made a god awful ALERT, THERE COULD BE AN UNATTENDED CHILD LEAVING! racket every time it was opened.

I should see if they have some sort of monthly or even yearly pass, because I can definitely see us taking the kids there at least once a week, and at $14 a visit (I paid $12 yesterday because of coupons), that could quickly add up!

Anyway, after playing there for over two hours, we picked up dinner and went home. We ate, laid around, got changed into pajamas (well, they did), and were all tucked in bed and asleep by 11pm. We didn’t get up until 11:30am today! Geez.

Okay, I’m having an issue with my camera that is pissing me off. I had the same problem with the Nikon D40, and now the Nikon D40x is doing it, and my mother’s D40x has done it a few times as well. Basically, there are times when it won’t take photos. I’ll press down the shutter button, but nothing will happen. It will still focus on something, and you’ll hear the little beep and see the set of brackets turn red to let you know that it has focused on an object, but the photo WON’T FREAKING TAKE. I thought that perhaps it was a memory card issue, but now I’m doubting that. I have tried two different 1GB cards, one 2GB card, and now a 4GB cards – all cards being the SanDisk ultra/extremes, all cards being previously formatted by the camera itself, all cards being empty or nearly half empty. The battery is always charged up.
So, what gives? Time and time again this is happening, and I am missing REALLY good shots. :(

That picture of Ryan coming down the slide is absolutely hilarious – I love the hair, haha Looks like they had a good time, they have one of those types of places around here that my younger cousins go to all the time, they seem to enjoy it :)

It’s amazing how much your kids have grown! I wish we had a place like that around here, instead nothing. Least they look like they are having a grand time!

If you figure out why the camera’s been doing that, please let me know? I’ve noticed it a couple of times and it’s somewhat frustrating. Then again, it could be the exposure – I was finding it difficult when taking pictures of darker things

Looks like the kids had an awesome day! :)

I cannot believe you have those play places there. We have nothing like that and it’s sad. I’d be more inclined to take her there than to the park because of the epidemic at our park we’re really warned not to go there.

That place reminds me of somewhere I went when I was younger with my brother and sister, I loved it there. Looks like Alyssa and Ryan had a great time :)

No don’t ask me!! I completely wiped any memory of that place from my hard drive.

When the camera is failing what kind of shot are you taking? How far away is the subject? And is it on the auto setting or are you something like aperture priority mode?

  7. Looks like they had a really nice time. They have a really nice water park here but by the time we was ready to go, it was to cold. I’m hoping next year they can go. (I was moving back to NC but I’m not now) I’m not sure if they have a park like that. I hate the cold and don’t go out in it to much. :dork:

  8. That place looks great! it looks a lot less insane then Chuck E. Cheese. I’m glad Alyssa and Ryan had a good time. The picture of him coming down the slide is great.

I don’t have a DSLR, but I know even my point and shoot 4 year old Canon has done that same thing since I got it. I’ve gotten used to it now. Maybe just try calling them and talking to a support person?

your kids are so cute, and they’re growing up so fast! gosh, i remember you blogging about alyssa being born haha.

That play place looks alot of fun as well. haha, my little cousins would love something like that. cause taking them to chuck e cheese is just letting them pick up a staff infection immediatly after jumping into the ball pit. :/

I just bought a nikon d40x and i haven’t had any problems with it yet…though I think the stalling has happened a few times but i noticed that if you focus to close to the subject that’s when it starts to delay. so i don’t know if that’s always whats happening to yours. i hope you figure it out lovie!

I love the 1st pic of Ryan…He’s got the Einstein look going on!! :) We have a place kind of like that here called Imagination Station, but it’s fill with token-consuming games…It would be nice to JUST have playground equipment…cheaper too! Glad they had fun!!

Mine does that sometimes too. It makes me mad because when it does that. When I am getting ready to take a nice photo of my nephew and then it does that. My nephew doesn’t stand still for one second, so thats why I liked the Nikon bc it shoots so fast.

Alyssa and Ryan looks like there having so much fun! I wish they had a place like that here for my nephew, he loved it!

Awww that is so cool, I didn’t know indoor playgrounds even exsisted!

  13. We have something like that up here…. Never been to it but hopefully one day.. Glad you guys had fun.. the pictures are so adorable

  14. That place looks like alot of fun. I have been to a place like that with work, but it was much much bigger solid wall to wall and floor to celing climbers, it was insane. That place looks more like a show room for playground equipment. The Perfect place for rainy day fun and play.

Indoor playgrounds may be good here in Florida for the opposite reason – the heat! You do not want to go on a playground that’s been sitting in the sun all day.

My boyfriend has the Nikon D80 and it did that when I was trying to take a macro shot. It just would not take a picture if I was too close to the subject, even though it was in focus and everything. Very frustrating. Good luck figuring out what’s up with your camera.

I’d ask about the camera problem on a flickr group. It looks like the kiddos had a BLAST! I used to love places like that, but I only got to go a handful of times in my life. Bleh. Sounds cool!

Haha aww, ever cute. I remember my mother taking us to burger king and they had a huge play area like that. I went back when I was 12 and was denied access. :( I still miss it, lol.
