My wisdom tooth surgery is scheduled for 7:45am on Wednesday morning. I’m extremely nervous, but I’m looking forward to getting it over with, especially since the impacted wisdom tooth and the normal wisdom tooth directly above it have been giving me a great deal of pain and swelling for the last week. And I hate anxiety and waiting around. Those two or so weeks between when I found out when, short of a miracle, Ryan would have to be born via c-section and when the c-section actually happened were HORRIBLE. So I was greatly relieved when the oral surgeon was able to make an appointment for me on Wednesday morning.
Dan will be going with me, since I’ll be put under general anesthesia. I told the oral surgeon about how sick I was during the c-section with Ryan and for the first twelve or so hours afterward, so I won’t be getting any narcotics in my IV. What does that mean exactly? Mi, you’re a dental assistant… will the lack of narcotics in my IV interfere with me being put under? Or increase the pain I’ll experience during my recovery?
Anyway, I finished up the entire first season of Nip/Tuck last night, and Dan and I are now working on the second.

Good luck. I had mine done and I got to play with the magna doodle for a week. xD
I hope it turns out well for you.
Good luck with the surgery!!
If you skip the narcotics, it means you’re passing over the painkiller in your IV. If the painkiller is what made you sick during your C-section – and it could have been, some people can’t handle narcotics – then it’s not going to mess with your recovery. Just make sure you get something for afterwards from the dentist, like Percocet, which I’m sure they’ll give you, anyway.
Good luck! I recovered from my first one in a day, I was literally back to normal the next morning. So maybe you’ll be lucky ;)
Percocet makes a lot of people nauseous. I think they give people sensitive to percocet something like Tylenol3 (prescription strength tylenol)
Good luck with the surgery, I’d be a bit nervous too but I’m sure you’ll be just fine.
Ohhh good luck. I had mine done about a year and a half ago. Luckily, I had little or no pain during the recovery, however all the drugs made me EXTREMELY sick. I was on bed rest for about two weeks, throwing up pretty much every day. I hated it. But I’m more scared of pain than anything else, and the pain was almost nonexistant.
Ouch, good luck with the wisdom teeth surgery. I had all mine pulled out at once. I don’t think it was as bad a case as yours, though. I wasn’t in that much pain beforehand. I also just got knocked out with gas or whatever it is. I hope you’re not in too much pain afterwards hun. Tooth pain sucks.
PS: I love your family Christmas pictures so much!!
if it makes you feel any better, i wasn’t even put to sleep for my surgery – i opted to stay awake. and i got by just fine on aleves, though i wasn’t able to correctly eat or feel wonderful for a few days.
being awake while they do that is an out of body experience. the 14 shots they gave me PRIOR to doing it to numb my mouth… also an out of body experience. lol. i seriously suggest it though, it was wild & saved me about $200.
ps) one reason they put you to sleep? because if they get it out a certain way (or they have to cut) blood can/will squirt on your face. and you hear cracking noises. and they move your head back and forth.
LOL. okay i probably have you scared but my whole point is that if i can do it awake, you can DEFINITELY do it asleep. <3
I wonder why the world works the way it does. Why we all just can’t have perfect teeth. Why there are wisdom teeth if they are just to be taken out. The procedure of having wisdom teeth taken out scares me to death! I hope I never have to get it done, but I think most people do.
I had everything that Kalen said above. I had a very old fashioned doctor that thankfully retired a couple years after I saw him because he was older than dirt and very unkind. He did oral surgery on me and the only thing I got was shots in my mouth to numb me. Everyone else was like didn’t they give you gas? Uh no have no clue what you are talking about?
Whatever happened after he started was just going to happen. He screamed at me that if I didn’t stop resisting his huge hands in my tiny little mouth that he’d have his wife hold me down. I survived the blood, cracking, moving back and fourth, and all the freaking pressure on my head. I hated that cracking sound, but it didn’t really hurt at all.
Jenn it will be SUPER FINE! I’m sure. If I can handle that at 14 you can do it!
PS
I’m a wimp!
