Whenever I hear or see the term performance management I am immediately reminded of an asshole of a manager I had when I worked at a fast food place in Pittsburgh, back in 2003. He would do random checks on his employee’s performances at their duties out of nowhere AND while they were busy with customers. It was extremely embarrassing and discomforting to being watched, evaluated and criticized while serving customers. It was unprofessional, too. I really wish they would have canned that jerk of a manager. He created some very uncomfortable situations!
