But it apparently grows in our household. Just a little bit ago Alyssa came out with a “map”. Usually her map is a random piece of paper rolled up, but this time it was a piece of currency from the Dominican Republic. The hell? The first thought that popped into my head was, “Dude, DRUG MONEY. There must be a huge stash of it beneath the floorboards or something!” Then I remembered the real estate agent mentioning the last name of the prior owners, and it was definitely one of South American origin. But still, we went over this place with a fine tooth comb when we inspected things, and then again when we cleaned, and yet again when we painted. Where was this bill stashed that we didn’t find it? I couldn’t get an answer out of Alyssa, so I suppose I’ll never know.
How sad. I just checked out xe.com, thinking it might be worth my while to take the bill to the bank and have it exchanged for US currency. Twenty pesos is worth less than $0.60. Ouch. What the heck should I do with this worthless bill? I feel weird throwing it out, because dude, it’s MONEY. But to me, it’s useless. And I don’t exactly have friends or family members in the Dominican Republic that I could send it to!
Today was a long, boring day. I did some blogging. I reinstalled Windows Vista on my laptop. After a week of using Mac OS X Leopard, I decided it wasn’t for me. I uploaded a few photos to Flickr. I worked on a few preliminary ideas for Valentine’s Day cards. I brainstormed a new layout for jenn.nu (this one has been up for two months!). I took a nap while the kids napped. I did laundry, dishes and mopped the floor. God, I’m so boring.
$.6…. yeah I don’t think it’s worth all that much in my mind either. I have XP and will be upgrading to Vista soon *cringes* I’m not a fan of Mac either… too unfamiliar.
The saddest part of your entry is the fact that your boring day is still more exciting than my usual day. *runs off and cries* I feel like I spent the whole damn day on the computer not getting a damn thing done… Okay, I did manage to get my domain up and running pretty decently (I really have to stop moving around so much). I’d love for you to stop by and check it out if you have the time.
Haha, maybe it could be the first step for Alyssa to start a coin/bill collection with her mommy’s help? Pretty cool how she somehow found it though. ^^
I’ve used Leopard a few times on my friend’s laptop and I couldn’t use it because (for starters) I kept on going to the upper right hand corner to close windows instead of the left and I kept on wondering where the X was for me to click.

That is really interesting how she found the bill. Perhaps she knows of the secret stash of cash, and just isn’t telling ;) I would keep the bill, perhaps as the beginnings of a bill/coin collection. Just keep it as something to look back on, and when she is older you can tell her the story behind it!
Wow thats so weird, I wonder where she got it from. I agree with Aidan I would hold on to the money and show it to her when she gets older.
Let Alyssa keep it :3 Then maybe she could start up an around-the-world bill collection . . you know, amongst other weird things kids keep :o
Hm. Im surprised no one has mentioned yet that The Dominican Republic is NOT in South America. It is in the Caribbean. It shares an island with Haiti and used to be called “Hispanola.” Definitely not South American, though. You can send it to me. I collect foreign currency…I love it!

I was going to correct you that DR isn’t in South America, but Leslie beat me to it. I would suggest that you definitely start a collection for Alyssa… it could be a cool thing she looks back on when she gets older.
A coin/money collection sounds like a neat idea, if Alyssa is up to it. If not, you could just let her play with it. She could probably find some use for it.
I’m still with XP, and have no desire to upgrade. James uses Vista, and it looks cool, but way too different for me..
Save it. I love having currency from other countries. It’s fun to take out every once and a while and compare.
