Last week I was out for two hours in a failed attempt to find some farm animals to practice photography on. Of course I picked a cold, blustery day to go out on, which is probably why I only saw a handful of horses and one lonely, pitiful little cow the entire time I was out. I think the best part of my day was getting my car stuck in a bunch of muck gathered at the edge of a field I had pulled off onto, and scaring off the group of beautiful horses I was going to photograph with my spinning, squealing tires. For what it’s worth, I did get out without having to call Dan and whimper about my predicament. The car ended up being filthy though. :bummed:
Today I went out to take my mother’s printer to her (yes, the one she swiped from me on eBay; it’s okay though, because mine is in better cosmetic shape, whee!). It was delivered to me because I have a confirmed shipping address; she doesn’t. Anyway, of course I run out with the huge bastard printer box stuffed in the front of my car (I had to lay the seat back to get it in!) but without my camera, and pass probably fifty horses, cows, sheep and goats between my house and hers. Note to self: bring camera at all times!
Right now I’m procrastinating killing time with Sarah and Sarah’s new message board, Photogenic! I’m getting really into photography (hey, you can suck at a hobby; that doesn’t make it any less of a hobby!), and it’s great to have a board dedicated to it, without it being occupied by the big bad photography professionals. It’s a nice little board aimed at our age group (twenty-somethings) and blossoming love and experience with all things photography.
Here’s a funny eBay story: last week I ordered a 2GB micro-SD memory card for my cell phone (T-Mobile Dash). On Saturday morning I receive a shipping notification. Imagine my surprise when I see the seller not only lives in the same town that I do, but is literally two minutes down the road!!! I quickly emailed, hoping that the electronic shipping notification had been set up online, but unfortunately he had just gotten back from dropping off the package at the post office when he replied.
Today I get an email from him, letting me know that our brilliant postal employees read the sender’s address rather than the recipient’s address, and sent the package back to him! He graciously offered to drop off the memory card at my house, and so tonight I had my very first personal delivery from an eBay seller.
Now, to figure out how to install Tiny Twitter and the few other miscellaneous programs I have on my cell phone on the storage card instead…

I hate when that happens!! I keep telling myself that my camera is going everywhere I go, but I’m always forgetting it…That’s so weird how close the Ebay seller was to you! Leave it to the post office to screw up the order though!
I always find something interesting or something pretty that I could take pictures of but it always seems like at those times I don’t ever have my camera. I also say that I will take my camera with me whenever I leave the house but I always forget.
Call me stupid but I find photography so complicated! Film speed, exposure, lighting… I wish I could take decent photos. It’s definitely true what you said about always taking your camera with you. You just never know when you’ll see a great shot.
It’s too bad you couldn’t have stopped your memory card from being shipped. That’s funny about how close the guy lived. Just goes to show you what a small world we live in I guess. :D
ahh, what an amazing idea of a message board. i went & signed up.
i love photography & have for many years. i need to take a picture of my first digital camera. it weighs about 4lbs. heh. it’s also about 8 years old! the memory card held about 8 images!!
i think your skill is improving everyday! i just wish i had more scenery to take pictures of. i can only pose addison so many different ways :P.
I just wanted to let you know that you are a good photographer— at least you, unlike me, can take pictures without them coming out blurry!
I would kill to take pictures that look decent.
LOL I like that – the postal office delivered it back to him anyway! That’s a really cool story. And of course the animals show up when you don’t have your camera – that’s the way the world works right? ;)
Wow thats dumb of the post office. I cant wait until it gets warmer to take some photos and not worrying about sliding on ice and the snow. I still cant thank you enough for showing me your Nikon, even though Matthew was so against it at first, he loves it
ha ha!
I want that printer too! It prints the wide pages which are good for scrapbooking. That’s kinda funny your mom out bid you though hehe
